  1. His lectures were always outstanding, even when I heard them for the second time. His encyclopedic memory of history was phenomenal. We purchased a full set of his lectures on a thumb drive, which as of several years ago included more than one hundred talks. Always enjoyed chatting with him and his wife, Carol, and sharing a meal with them.  Very much hope he finds his way back to Crystal

  2. Looks great, I can't wait to try the many interesting dishes and concoctions.

But my offer to Seabourn is still open, I'll be glad to proof read their menus and other publications pro bono (of the spelling mistakes, "Snack River Farm" and "RIP EYE STEAK" are especially egregious).

  3. They only allow pre-booking for a relatively small percentage of the available spaces (well less than 50%). You can book your reservations once onboard (you should do so on the day of embarkation).  Most likely, you will be able to make several reservations for your cruise.

When checking the SB app for the nightly menus on Quest, TK Grill is no longer listed. Must be that it’s now closed and the changeover is in process. Looking forward to learning more about Solis.

The Quest's TKG menu still shows up on my app today.

Is your next SB cruise on Quest?  I believe that's the only way to view Quest's menus on the app.

Our cabin attendant looked like she was about to collapse.  She disappeared for 2 days and we were told that she was seasick.  She  came back to work with a mask and still looked unwell.  I have a suspision that this was the source of transmission.

I can't believe that a cabin attendant would be allowed to return to work within two days of being diagnosed with Covid.  That would violate every standard of care (on ship and on land) that I've ever seen.  Additionally, Seabourn certainly wouldn't want her to be spreading Covid to all of the other passengers if for no other reason than it's not in their best interest.

Her being out two days sounds as though she was suspected of having Covid, had a negative initial test, was retested 24-48 hours later, and that test was also negative.

However, what you describe sure sounds like a strong circumstantial case for her having Covid.  Perhaps she was tested and had a false negative result.

  6. Let me split the baby in half:  there will be new ships, but they will be expedition ships. I believe this decision will be short-sighted, but these ships are smaller and command a higher premium, so for a small company it might make sense in the short run.  Hope I'm wrong!

If a major itinerary change is made, customers should be offered the ability to change their minds as well as to whether the cruise is still desirable.

That is covered in the cruise contract (Booking Terms and Conditions) that we all sign (but don't necessarily read):

"Crystal may in its sole discretion and without prior notice change, substitute, postpone, cancel or deviate from any scheduled sailing, itinerary or call at any port, and may substitute another vessel for the ship, and shall not be liable for any loss or damage incurred by a Guest as a result of any such change, substitution, postponement, cancellation or deviation."

For some reason it’s still called ‘The Grill’ under the dining reservations icon, but having booked it indeed appears as Solis. Perhaps a UK booking problem?

Same experience for us here (USA). On the booking platform it was listed as Keller Grill, but the receipt email and the entry in My Itinerary listed it as Solis.  And, as Nancy already mentioned, booking for Solis has been available for several weeks.

Promenades are dead.  They are dead for the simple reason that they take much needed space.   How many People

on a ship use a promenade ???   Less than 10 percent.  Do the Math.

Upon your recommendation I did the math and it turns out that 63% of passengers on Serenity and 68% of passengers on Symphony used the promenade during calendar years 2016 - 2019

May have to try as an alternative to my usual Jade, when onboard in July.

We have our first NC cruise coming up in several months and can't wait for our favorite Jade Martini. We have asked for it on another luxe line on several separate cruises but they didn't know what it was...except on one of the cruises when the bartender was ex-Crystal!
