  1. Almost positive the Amex OBC will cause the same issue as some, if not all of the Amex OBC comes from the cruise line. That said, the referral is $400 while the Amex is $300 so if I am correct, you are still ahead $100 with the referral coupon. Good luck.

Thank you! We will gratefully accept the extra $100 if that is all we get...helps with the premium champagne :D

  2. First time Celebrity. Will be in port overnight on Solstice in Sydney. After we check in and put our bags in our cabin, we may want to go ashore and come back very late or even the next morning . Any problems with this? Can you get on and off at all hours as long as you are back at least 1 hour before sailing? Thanks!
  3. First timers on Celebrity and first time to these ports. Would appreciate advice for attire on ship (12days =3 formal nights???) and attire in ports (likely hot and humid??). My impression was that I could wear a little black dress or equivalent for formal nights with a casual dress or slacks/nice top for other nights. Our dining is AQ Blu but I don't know if that is less formal than the MDR. Will we need rain ponchos for excursions in Austin/NZ late Nov-early Dec? Bug spray? I am a mosquito magnet.

    Thank you!

  4. Great reply... Very helpful, thanks. We are a married couple in our 50s, love nature and water sports...experienced scuba divers. We do not live in LA but will be flying from LAX. We tend to shy away from crowds and generally enjoy smaller cruise ships like Paul Gauguin but this itinerary excited us, and the AQ verandah seems like a nice place to relax on sea days. Would love to go to Great Barrier Reef and Lizard Island sounds fun but due to work schedule cannot arrive until Monday before the Thursday sailing, not sure how to make that work. I did not realize we could do an overnight excursion in NZ...I assumed we could not get off the ship during the day we are cruising the Milford Sound. We have no excursions planned yet. The only must-do for hubby is the Bridge in Sydney. The idea of sailing in the Bay of Islands seems perfect! We will likely avoid large group tours. Your recommendations are most appreciated.

  5. Looking forward to a great cruise, but would NOT use the transfers out of IAD again. Hate to complain but want to let those of you debating whether to buy transfers that you might want to reconsider. Arrived this morning , claimed luggage, waited an hour. Unlike transfers for other Princess cruises in the past, very disorganized. Apparently they do not notify dispatch to send the bus until there are enough passengers to fill the bus, but no one tells you that and the men with the Walky-talkies were having a hard time communicating with dispatch. When the bus arrives, no help with luggage as in past, just wheel it out to bus and the driver puts it under, with lots of Princess reps just standing around. Then you go to another terminal. Be forewarned...your carryons will not fit in the bus overheads, so you hold them on your lap or put them in the aisle after everyone is on board. Then there is a 50 minute or more ride to the port, depending on traffic. Others have had positive things to say about the transfer process, and we had better experiences when we cruised from other ports. Anyhow, still excited and optimistic about the next steps. More later.
