This is an older property on a great stretch of beach. Drinks are good, bar food is better than the buffet.

Hey Scubagirl how is the beach at the Marley Resort? We never knew about this resort. Is it relatively new? As quiet and peaceful as the Hilton? Food? Looks nice, just value the comparison to the Hilton which we really liked. We like nice clear water, and go between the pools and the beach usually.Relaxing in the sun, and like the quiet atmosphere. Thanks again. Also how far away from the cruiseport is the Marley property? Cost by taxi or #10 bus? Thanks so much.

  2. Our favorite beach as well. Very relaxed and not too crowded when we there. No pushy sales but there are booths you could buy from. You can rent anything you would need for the water there if you wanted from jet ski's , snorkel equipment to a boat ride out to a close by reef. We just relaxed on the beach, had some drinks from the bar and snorkeled off the beach ( saw lots of fish). Would have liked to stay longer but we had shared a cab with another couple and their daughter who wanted to get back to port. Cab is $26 one way divided among passengers. You can have them return to pick you up or just get a ride there and take one of the cabs that are always around to get back at your convenience.

It was about a 20 minute drive

Was the restaurant opened at the hotel? Or is there food available at Long Bay Beach? Was the reef close to shore? Good clarity? Just asking since we love to snorkel-looks like the place for us and our two boys. Thanks!

  3. You are quite welcome.

As for the snorkeling- our ship friends did not think the snorkeling at Trunk was as good as what they had in Curacau or other spots around the Caribbean. There is an underwater snorkel trail but they observed that some of the coral was damaged probably by other snorkelers. They are avid snorkelers. I can say that I walked out in the water just a bit (calf heigth) and hundreds of little fish swarmed around me. :D It was a wonderful experience.

St. John is very mush worth the trip because most of the island is a National Park and just so unspoiled. We have been to Hawksnest Beach as well and there are other beaches too.

Trunk bay does have very nice showers, changing area and lockers. I am VERY picky about restrooms and showers so and I did not have a problem at Trunk.

What can you tell me about Hawksnest? Is the snorkeling good here as well? Are there bathroom or food at Hawksnest? Looking at an alternative beach with snorkeling, bathrooms, some snacks, drinks,. Been to Trunk and loved it, just wanted to try a different beach. Do you know anything about Caneel? Thanks for the help.
