  1. Last week I spent an hour on hold with Princess and then 35 minutes with someone who kept 'putting me on a brief hold'  insisting that they could get me an answer, and then finally said no one knew the answer!   So I emailed Princess and got a response that 'they were extremely busy but would get back with me soon'...I am still waiting.

  2. Homosassa, we live a few miles inland, and are 20 feet above sea level.  Didn't have any flooding or problems during Matthew and Florence.  Dorian's edge is scheduled to skirt our coastline, and only provide heightened rain and waves.

If we can get to I-95 we should be fine.  And I have several alternative routes planned.

But if Sun is planning only to cruise around the ocean, we want to cancel and reschedule for another port/ship/cruiseline.  Would be nice to know before we arrive at the port...

  3. Thanks to all that posted.  We are completely understanding of the situation, but are still very amused that the 'boilerplate' updates on Dorian at the top of the NCL web page still shows Freeport as a stop.  Now hoping that NCL will be communicating more accurately--as we must leave to travel a long distance to PC 48 hours from now.

I have received nothing via email from NCL about this cruise--learning everything from my wonderful CC posters and going to the NCL website!

    Fingers crossed!

  4. OK, Dorian has screwed up everything.

That said, our scheduled cruise from Port Canaveral on SUN 96 hours from now (Sept 7) is still showing planned stops in Freeport and Great Stirrup Cay--uh, I don't think so.  Nassau is still showing as a planned stop--so that's a maybe.

Regardless, SUN's 8/29 sailing from PC is returning to New Orleans 9/3, not PC, and the scheduled 9/2 cruise is cancelled--this makes perfect sense.

Why can't NCL tell us what their tentative plans are--and if cancelling or modifying is an option--all of us on the 9/7 SUN sailing must make arrangements NOW to (1) get to PC by car or flight, (2) figure out hotel and parking if driving (3) adding an additional travel day if driving will take us through Dorian's path to get to PC (4) make arrangements to meet SUN in New Orleans and possibly cruise to Mexican ports.

NCL--please give us some REASONABLE updates on your plans--we cannot press a Star Trek 'transporter button' at the last minute!  Even tentative plans would help us passengers to figure out what we are going to do.

  5. We prefer to enjoy a beach rather than a resort with a beach, so want to know if there is a place on Cable Beach to rent a lounge chair for four to five hours.  We also like to take local transportation, so a place on a bus line would be great.  We are two adults, no kids, very active physically, and love being in the water.

    Thanks!

  6. i walked about twenty minutes from the ship to the fabric store.  it was in a small strip center, can't recall what else was there, except next to it was a coffee or convenience store which sold cold soda.  one of the customers and i started talking, and she drove me about 5-10 minutes to this tiny beach.  it was right off the street, and the bus picked me up there to go back to the ship.

    does this help?

  7. The beach is small, and lots of trees between the road and the beach.  The entry into the water is not very wide, and the 'boulders' may just be an embankment on the sides of this little beach.  The restroom facilities are a small cinderblock building, may have an open air shower attached.  no beach chair rentals, no lifeguard, and no concessions, although an ice cream truck did park there for a few hours.

Does that help?  I am pretty sure it was on the Eastside.

    Thanks!

  8. I have been to this beach in St Thomas, but can’t remember it’s name.  Small, only simple restroom facilities, mostly locals, on th bus line, it has high boulder-like edges that you can jump off of into the water.  Don’t even think there were waves, as it is very protected from the open ocean.  Hope it wasn’t ruined by the hurricane!

If you know what beach this is, please let me know—thanks all!
