Great review, fantastic pictures. We are sailing on her 7/7/14 and REALLY, REALLY, appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences.

I am trying to decide about the cheers program.....since my husband died of a massive heart attack in September :( :( our son is going in his place ... we had 2 cruises booked before he died....our platinum cruise was in November ...and then we had this 8 day cruise next month that he was SO excited about. Our son will be 21 in a couple of days after the cruise has ended .... (and I know this is wrong...and will get MANY ugly comments.....if I did get the cheers program for just me...since it is just the 2 of us ... I could basically split the 15 drinks between the two of us? I know I could come NO WHERE near drinking that many...I have maybe 2 specialty drinks a day ... and my husband and i had Bud Light most of the other time...because that is what we do/did at home ...... but how would I figure out if I would come out ahead doing the Cheers program? How much would it be on an 8 night cruise? With just one person?
No help on the Cheers program but please accept my condolences on the loss of your husband. It is great that your son is going with you but I am sure it is bittersweet. I hope you have a wonderful time.

90 days for me. Thank you so much for your review. It helped to get me excited. Your pictures are great and you covered a lot of territory..

I just buy the $10 watches first day so I do not need to carry my phone around to make the shows etc. I do not wear one daily and always forget to put one on before leaving the house. I now have 3 @10 watches in my night stand.
Anyone want a watch for $20 :)
That's my husband. Every cruise I remind him not to forget the $10 watch and he does. I know include the $10 in my cruise budget.

Thank you in advance. I am very excited to read your review. We are on the Splendor in July of this year.

I think both ships have qualities that make them better or worse than the other.
I do still love the Miracle. I was just so certain I wasn't going to like the Splendor, that I was really shocked at how much I loved it.
But hands down, getting around the Miracle from the moment you step on board is a lot easier. But each ship has their own positives.
I hope you feel better. Thanks for coming back. I will wait anxiously for the rest of your comparision review. I am really enjoying it.

We are a group of 21. I have some mobility issues and my mom is wheelchair bound. I rented two villas for our group. I also have FTF so I am hoping to get a good choice of the villas when we board.
Our group will also have children aged 4-11-11-12. Given all that information can anyone recommend what Villas I should try and get?
thanks for your insight. We have never been to HMC and are excited about going.

I am a lover of the Spirit class ships. I've sailed the Miracle, the Legend and the Pride (3x). Going on the Splendor in July so I am really interested in your comparision review.
I have also sailed on the Inspiration and the Liberty. But they could not compare to the Spirit ships. When I am on the Spirit ships I feel like I am at home.
thanks for taking the time to share your experiences.

I am very nervous about this very issue. Traveling with three granddaughters :
one who will turn 10 on the cruise
one who was 11 in January and looks 15
one who will turn 12 two weeks before the cruise (sister to the first one)
We want the girls to be together. They want to be together. I'm worried they will make the newly 12 yr old go to the older camp.

Doesn't Carnival have the official age from the birth certificate or passport/

Unless you're me, then you drink it by yourself just to say you did it! :p
You go girl.

Going on a memorial cruise in the summer. First time cruise for most of my family and the first summer cruise for me. I am worried about the crowds and the kids. I will have 7 of my own. Four are too little to get in mischief on their own. Two are really good teens but I do worry about that crowd mentality.

We are on the May 31st cruise and went to book a cabana and they are all sold out. Does carnival reserve any for people who want to buy one on the ship or is if for real, they are completely sold out? I figured with it being more than 3 months away I would have been able to get one. I am so upset about this :(

They do not reserve them but people may cancel. There a limited amount of cabanas so they do sell out fast. I booked my villas 9 months in advance. The minute they became available.
Please don't be upset just keep checking, maybe someone will change their mind. Have a wonderful cruise.

sorry
Does your cruise card work for drinks on the island? if you buy the drink package does it work too? thanks
My understanding is that your cruise card works for drinks but the Cheers package does not include Half Moon Cay. It is one of the reasons I decided against the Cheers package.

yes they had the bean bag toss.
thanks, great review and beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing

Anything even remotely related to tips will turn into a tip removing thread. I have literally spent hours, seriously, hours reading threads like this, and I am still fascinated by them. They are such a study in human nature and different types of people.
Other top tier classic cruise critic threads:
tipping
dress code
John Heald, friend or foe?
Smoking
Saving chairs
Carnival just changed ......... and it will ruin the universe because ........
Carnival sucks because .........
Carnival will never be the same because ........
My tripped sucked and yours will too because..........
Lower tier classic threads:
I am a diamond / platinum and now I dont get ............ so my life is ruined
Another guest in the dining room did .............. and my cruise was ruined
Putting room service trays in the hallways
Pvp vs. travel agent vs. do it yourself
Getting to the port at 5AM vs. when the ship is dropping lines
Anything I am forgetting?
Great list a few more
It makes me sick to watch the amount of food others eat
The CD talks too much/not enough
Singing wait staff
Drink staff in my face/drink staff not to be found

If something like this can ruin your cruise, you should probably stay at home. Bad stuff happens everywhere, learn to live with it.

Loved the review. Makes me excited for our July cruise. Did you notice if they had the bean bag toss? We enjoy trivia but we really loved the horse race (discontinued) and the bean bag toss.

OP sorry to hear about all of your losses. I just lost my 22 year old nephew in December and I find it hard to focus and to think with a clear head. In a few years when your life settles a bit, maybe taking another cruise will appeal to you.
I am sorry to hear about your nephew

Carnival should have stitched her up at no charge.

The trivia games were really fun. Trivia is one of my favorite things to on land, so it was a given we were going to attend as much as possible. Name that Tune was my Gold Star moment as I won a ship on stick. It now resides on my computer desk at work proving to everyone of my co-workers that my useless talent for knowing words to all songs pays off LOL.
they did have some really hard trivia, like Ancient History and this one where they give you the letters of the words. Sort of like this:
26 L I T A=26 Letters In The Alphabet
My husband loved that one.
The last sea day was almost a full day of trivia. We basically stayed and played all day because it was raining.
That is my favorite trivia also
like 18 H on a GC.

159 days for me. Loving your review. Can't wait to read more.

I have limited cruise experience, but from what I have seen, the tablecloths will not be missed by most MDR patrons. On both of the cruises I have sailed with Carnival, the way people dress in the MDR looks like they should be going to a fast food joint anyway.
I will miss the tablecloths. My husband and I still change for dinner. We did not pay attention to what others wore to dinner. We knew we wanted to have a dining experience at our table.
I agree Carnival mgmt probably thought most cruisers dress to their expectations.
I have a cruise planned for July so I will go with an open mind but it may be time to look into other vacation options. I do understand that Carnival must cater to the majority of their clientele.

Thank you for sharing your vacation. Please accept my condolences on the loss of your grandmother.
How old are your children? Did they utilize any of the Camp features?
