I had no idea that's where that came from.  You really do learn something new everyday.

what is Rock of Ages about?

In a nutshell - it's a boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back story, but set against the 80's rock scene.  Which means (at least in the Broadway version) sex, drugs, and Rock n Roll.  Most stuff is implied, but it is still there.  As a child of the 80's it is everything I grew up with.  If you've seen the film but not the stage version, the stage version is a million times better (my opinion only).  The music is all covers of (probably best described as) either arena rock or hair metal.

  3. Our MUST every time we are in Miami is Cipriani's. Best Italian food I've had and amazing service. It can be rather pricey depending on what you order.

In April we also found a little place in Brickell, Delores but you can call me Lolita. Great outdoor dining space and excellent food and drinks.

You also probably cannot go wrong with Joe's. We are lucky enough to have one here so we've always skipped it.

  4. Hi all, perhaps my search is not working correctly, but I could only find really old threads on this topic. Do suites (categories that start with an S) still get breakfast and lunch in Cagney's? We've only done the Haven on Getaway and not sure if the Haven this time it is worth twice the cost over the same type of room on the Pearl.

    Thanks

  5. I find on most cruises that the overwhelming number of people want to be out in full sun. I, however, as a blue eyed blonde with already one melanoma under my belt, want the shade. I would think the cabanas won't be overrun.

I'm with you on this - one bout with melanoma was enough for me. I'm always hiding from the sun now on our cruises. When we were on the Getaway they had about four cabanas in the Haven area...I think all but once were we able to walk up and grab one for an hour or two. Hoping it will be the same on MSC.

  6. Wow, that's a harsh downgrade. I guess you're in the U.S.? We don't really have the option to cancel in the UK, we'd lose a substantial amount of money. Cruise lines have us over a barrel.

I didn't even think about that for other countries. But yes, I'm in the U.S. so we can cancel without issues.

  7. It is clearly stated in MSC booking conditions that your cabin number can change up until embarkation. They cannot however downgrade your cabin.

Actually they can. We were tossed out of the Royal Suite and put into a balcony in the Yacht Club. MSC blamed a computer error for letting us book. This happened after we booked the day the Seaside opened and we found this out a couple months later. Still debating if we are even going to go.

  8. We had FJS 10206 last year and it was plenty big enough for me and my DW and our two teenage kids. The second half bath is a great bonus. We also ate in Coastal Kitchen for dinner on a couple of nights which is really the only perk for this class of suite. The balcony was great and had 2 loungers and a table.

We have that exact cabin booked for our April cruise. Glad to hear it was nice with a good balcony.

  9. We booked Seaside as soon as it was available and did end up GTY Royal Suite. Our TA was assured we had one of the two. Now six months later we've been told that the MSC booking system made a mistake and we've been bumped down to a regular balcony in the YC. They offered a couple hundred in OBC. Have to say we are now thinking about bailing on MSC as I'm so annoyed with them. Glad it worked out for you though.

  10. Found the ship...

Got here at 9:45. Bags off and parked in under 15 min. Checked in at 10 am into small wait area. Moved to a little larger area about 10:15. Waiting to board with horrible cell service.

I think they are preparing me for how bad the ship is...

    Let's hope not....

Great review so far - thanks for posting. Did you have any issues parking? I'd recently read somewhere it was hard to park at the port and we will have a car for this trip.

    Thanks!
