  1. If you book a corner aft on an S class you get the best of both worlds, you'll have an aft view with a view direct down on the side. Although not a true wrap around, you do "wrap around" enough to see directly down on the side of the ship. Still very exposed to the sun, something I was worried about, but the S1's have great balconies. IMHO

  2. I've been Cruising with RCL since 1986 (Nordic Prince). I've learned over the years to bring written documentation of EVERYTHING. I print my reservations and the paid receipt. I print any OBC that I am expecting, I print any upgrades that I paid for etc. it is so much less stressful to go to GS with a printed document from RCL than to try to tell them what you should have received.

I know it shouldn't be this way, but it is. Prepare yourself and everything goes smoothly.

  3. I wish Book of Morman was on some ship.

AWESOME choice. I would love to see that, but can you IMAGINE the screaming on CRuise Critic? The people here are so easily offended by the smallest of things. After seeing Book of Mormon, the hysteria would never end.

Of course they would be offended by a show that was extended to offend, but somehow I suspect the irony would be lost.

  4. You really can't disagree with facts. You may notice I didn't say the West End, I said Broadway. CATS is the second longest running show in BROADWAY history (this is a fact) Phantom is the longest running show on Broadway. (Fact).

That said, I am not a fan of either show and quite honestly, I am NOT an Andrew Lloyd Webber fan. ALW knows how to attract an audience and he knows how to make money.

My original point was I am confused that people don't know what CATS is about. Clearly it is about CATS. Have people not heard Memory? Or heard of T S Elliot?

While I agree that CATS is not the most exciting show, it is an easily mounted show. One set, no costume changes. many Broadway (or west end for that matter ) shows are difficult to stage on a cruise because of the difficulty in staging. I read many post on CC saying they would love to see Wicked on a ship. That would be great, but the logistics of that show make it unlikely. I understand Wicked is popular, but also expensive. A show like CATS is less expensive, has NAME recognition for the show and ALW and Memory.

Perhaps it is a mistake for RCCL, it is dated and somewhat dull.

Perhaps a show like Billy Elliot or Blood Brothers would fare better. Given RCI a partnership, with Dreamworks, why haven't we seen SHREK the musical on a ship?

  5. I'm not sure why there is so much confusion about what the Show is about. The title kinda sums it up - it is about CATS!! Now I understand that musical theater is not everybodies catnip toy, the truth is that CATS is one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's biggest hits and was once the longest running show on Broadway. (Currently Phantom of the Opera). I'm stunned that this many people are confused by the show. The song "memory" comes from CATS!

Have you ever heard the phrase "I laughed, I cried, it was even better than CATS!!"

  6. We did the Segway tour last year in Bermuda and had a good time. The tour was "basic", but the Segway was fun. You book it right in the dockyard. I imagine it is not worth while for X to carry the tour, their mark up would make the price unattractive. We plan on doing the tour again this week in Bermuda, we sail Sunday.

  7. My TA emailed me today that she complained to Celebrity and I am getting OBC to cover the price of parking T the port. A very nice surprise and a reason to have a TA that specializes in cruises advocating for you. My TA is part of a large consortium with purchasing power and the ability to influence consumers decisions, celebrity would tell me to have a nice cruise.

  8. I've done the Summit to Bermuda run twice and will be doing it again this summer. Typically, the Summit docks port side to the island. This comes from my personal experience and from the port Bermuda webcam.

  9. I called my TA today to check on this. Apparently Celebrity considers the Northeast to be NY, NJ, and CT. I must have missed the memo telling New England they were no longer part of the northeast. Apparently my local weather people missed the memo as well, as we had a very long and cold northeast winter this year. I wonder what part of the country I live in now. I hope it is the southeast!!!!!

  10. Cruiserone,

Glad you enjoyed your cruise. Can you tell me if 54 Below performances have started and if so who was your artist? I enjoyed this last year and have not been able to find anything on line indicating the performances have started, and/or a schedule of performers.

    Thank you.

  11. I've cruised the Summit to Bermuda in 2013 and 2012. I'm booked again at the end of this summer. (May have to cancel). Anyway, while in port you are welcome to come and go as you please. There is no curfew. The only time restriction you have is final boarding on the the last port day. The previous poster is correct, the ferry and bus system stops running at a published time in the evening. You may need to rent a taxi unless you have some other type of transportation such as a rented scooter.

When are you thinking of going?

  12. Royal is testing a new B2B procedure that started with the 3/2 - 3/9 B2Bers on Allure. Cards will be issued for the duration of the cruise with start and end dates on them. You will receive one card, the folio closes out at the end of the first cruise and you still "bing" out to bring the ship to zero count, but use the same card to re-enter. The soft ware that is used to handle this change was very buggy and the B2B procedure was disastrous. Have done many B2Bs and this was the worst. The software issues took four days to work out during the second week for the repeaters, including getting locked out of you cabin for hours. New cards had to be issued and the lock reprogrammed for the back to backers. Hopefully they have since worked out the bugs, as this new procedure should make it even easier for consecutive cruisers.

  13. Does anybody have pictures of cabin 6126 on the summit. It is an S1 with an "different" shaped balcony. My favorite room 6132, which I have stayed in several times was booked, so I selected 6126. Is this a good cabin? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
