  1. Advice based on our December Liberty sailing. :)

*Blue Iguana Cantina breakfast burrito and huevos rancheros (with or without eggs) are delicious.

*French fries from Guys are fabulous. You can get just fries. I recommend taking your fries over the salsa bar and adding cheese, heading back to the Guy's bar and adding bacon. Dip in chipotle and ranch sauce. ;)

*If you feel like a glass of ice water, head to the Alchemy Bar. They will put fresh berries, citrus or mint in it. Free.

*Alchemy Bar... not free but the 40 is the new 30 (or something like that) martini is fantastic. I normally do not enjoy pomegranate, but this was great.

*Head to the comedy lounge 20 minutes early if you want decent seating.

*Skip bingo until the end of the cruise. Prizes are much better.

*Say hello to Frederico at the Tequila bar. He's a great bartender.

*Be prepared for a hard sell daily on the PA system. Honestly, two or three times as many reminders to shop on the promenade than our previous cruise.

*Ask for peanut butter with the warm melting chocolate cake and for hot cocoa in the dining room. Both are free.

*Don't miss the fish and chips. It's up the stairs behind the back buffet line. I heard several people raving about the stew. This is a GREAT place to sit away from the madness of the lido in the morning. Sure you have to carry your food up a flight of stairs, but sometimes the quiet is worth it. ;)

*Also free and fun. Go to the digital scavenger hunt. Take your digital camera, ipad or cell. She will give you a list and a time limit. Sorry we got there too late. Prizes were champagne and ships on a stick.

*Another food tip... the EA sports bar has delicious hot pretzels. They are a 1.25 charge, but a yummy snack that's different.

*The fresh Italian drink, only available in the dining room, is delicious. It's about 8.25 or so, but worth it.

*The prosciutto pizza was fabulous. We didn't try it on our previous sailing, but this one was worth the non-stop pizza line.

*If you plan on buying specialty coffees, buy the reusable cup for 8.95. The first coffee is free with the cup purchase, so you're basically getting a decent reusable mug for $4.50 or so.

*The towel folding seminar was fun. and free. There is only an expense to this is buy the book. Save the $, youtube is your friend. ;)

    Enjoy your cruise. :)

  2. Over the New Year's Cruise...

*Lance Montalto --Seriously, if you are not easily offended go to the adult show. This guy is hysterical. My husband said he'd pay to see him. We went to all of his adult shows. They were all different.

*Some crazy hypnotist guy that was supposed to just do some evening shows, but due to the weather the other comedian couldn't make it. I think his name was Jacque Rene. It was just okay. It could've been hilarious, but the people he chose wouldn't go along with all of his suggestions.

*I can't recall the other two names. They were mediocre.

If you have the pleasure of being on a cruise with Carl CeeJay Jones, go see him! He is a riot. We saw him on the Victory and went to all of his shows.

  3. My area isn't an area where one would find high end designers, but I still head over to three local thrift stores about once a month. Our 16 year old loves to go to the thrift stores and has always liked a bargain.

Before this school year began she asked me to take her around to some local thrift and consignment shops. She purchased 21 pieces for under $60. She was thrilled. We had already spent more on one pair of jeans than those 21 items! I heard about a fabulous shop about 30 minutes away that I'd love to go to soon.

  4. Have you tried threading? It is a great alternative to waxing.

Also, the bathing suit discussion sent me on a search for some new bathing suit tops. I decided out of frustration to try ebay. Sure enough I found 3 tops new with tags attached that are by a manufacturer I am familiar with, so I know they will fit. I paid 29.97 for three tops shipped to my home and I already have the tracking information. I can't believe the great deals I got. One top would have cost me well more than the 29.97. :)

  5. Thanks, Marie! :) I will keep a lookout for some awesome shoes!

I'm glad you are able to get out and about now with your foot. I had major surgery in June and quickly discovered just how frustrating being stuck at home can be. It's amazing all the things you think to do when you can't do anything! lol

We are so eager for our cruise in December. We are taking my parents with us. My mom has long wished to cruise and my dad always said he'd never do it. He was on an aircraft carrier during Vietnam and said he had "cruised" for four long, challenging years, so a ship wasn't for him. Finally, in his retirement, he has decided he will try it.

Thanks again and have a fabulous weekend!

  6. Oh now we're talking sandals?? LOL

I recently bought these in both colours and they are super comfortable; I have to get WW shoes and they work perfectly for me, even though they are wedges.

I also bought these .. with that price, I would've been a fool not to!

Thank you, Virtopia! Your post gave me two new websites to shop for shoes for my daughter who has wide feet. :)

  7. We set up a cash account onboard. On day 2, my husband took down the cash for cheers for his stateroom (he was booked with 2 of the kids). He paid for the program for the remainder of our 5 day cruise. It was a little under $200 for the 4 days. You can only buy it on day 1 or 2.

He couldn't decide what to do about cheers, but once he saw the $50 tab from night one he decided to do it. It worked out great.
