We did a similar cruise in May. The seas were fairly calm, we had one night when it was a bit rougher when we came out into the North Sea between Fjords but nothing too bad. Of course the weather can vary from week to week so another time there could be more movement.

Personally I thought it was one of the most beautiful cruises we've ever done so I think it would be worth doing even if it were a bit rougher.

    Thanks. That was helpful! 😊

  2. Hi,

We are currently booked out of Barcelona for a cruise on 2nd October. Talked to a Scandinavian customer service rep. last week and I was told that kids over the age of 2 had to wear a mask on the ship just like adults. Here in Norway there has been no masks for children under 12, so this is a NO GO! for us. Have any of you cruise with kids in Europe lately? How is this enforced? Both of us adults will be fully vaccinated more that 14 days before departure, but the kids 7 and 3 will not. Our 7 year old will be able to wear a mask for short periods of time but our kid that just turned 3 will definitely not. How is the kids club? Do the kids wear masks in there?

Appreciate any onboard insight and experience traveling with kids.

Bummed if this cruise first postponed from 2020 to 2021 summer and then fall will have to be postponed again. This time with all my money stuck with Msc.

  3. my husband loves to buy all the pics, but at $20+ each, i knew we'd be better off getting a package for our upcoming cruise. we paid $200 for all prints/digital plus $30 for the ship dvd, we could not use OBC. we purchased this on 4/18 for a 7/23 cruise, so just under 3 months in advance.

We did also get the package for 199 $. Onboard on our one week sailing in Europe the prize was 350 $. There was some discounts available, but it only came down to 250 $.

  4. Boomerang is available. It Shows The cartoons that i watched on cartoon network when I was a kid. Tom and Jerry, Scooby doo and a couple of other shows. Dinosaur train was also shown regularly. My 3 year old peppa pig and dora fan loved it. We just got off the ship yesterday.

  5. Where does the OP state that he has a 3 year old? :o

Sorry. My bad. I read the thread while studying for my exam today and thought it said they would be sailing with a 3 year old. Obviously that was a mistake. And does it hurt to let the OP know what the square means. I really don´t think I stepped on anyones toes. But you stepped on mine.

  6. Hi. I too have an issue with dairy and this has been handled in a perfect way by Celebrity. You will have no trouble making your arrangements.

    This is what I do:

    1. Make a mark in the booking with my special needs. (I don´t think you have to, but it has certainly made things easier)

    2. Visit the Maitre'D when she/he is available after boarding. (I usually just go when its announced, but I think they call you in the stateroom and ask you to go see her/him if you don´t go by yourself.) Here we make our table reservations (we prefer private for the family) and talk about my needs. We look at the menu for the first night that clearly states what is available without lactose to begin with, and if I would like to order any of the other dishes they can prepare it lactose free for me.

    3. Every night after dinner I order the next nights meal from the next menu.

This has always been done completely without any stress or discomfort for me.

They also have soy milk in café al bacio and on select sailings also lactose free milk. (I´ve been told it has to do with availability for lactose free milk in the departure port.)

They don't seem to have the lactose free milk in Oceanview, but they will run and fetch it if needed. I find that a bit stressful as the queue seems to line up as we wait, so I prefer to have my lattes in Café al Bacio to avoid the stress. If you prefer it in Oceanview for breakfast or in the main dining room (for breakfast, lunch or dinner) I suggest you specifically ask them to stock it there for everyones convenience. I prefer it in the Café anyway (as they put the best baristas there and make it more to perfection.)

  7. Morning coffee in cafe al bacio as the ship docks. The place is almost empty around 7. We have an early riser in the family. This time she will be 3yrs, but last time she was 8months and was up at 5. We make new favourites every time we cruise.

  8. I would go for fixed early dining. We did flexible with our 8 month old daughter last time. But we wish we had fixed. Pros: you can get a high chair put there in advance (instead of repeatedly asking for one).

Your waiter will know your wishes and routines.

  9. Has anyone brought the baby jogger city mini GT on a cruise?

We brought our gt on Celebrity Eclipse. It is a Great stroller. Fits throughout The stroller period and just fitted through the cabin door.

  10. Hi all, I am hoping someone might be able to give me some tips on sailing with a toddler. I am sailing on Celebrity Solstice in a few weeks, this is the first time taking my toddler with us. Does anyone know if there a toddler under 2 needs to pay cover fees for specialty dining? I know that excursions for under 2 typically have no charge.

Please share any suggestions you may have.

    thanks

We traveled with our daughter (8 months then) last october on the Eclipse. We felt very welcome and our daughter got a lot of positive attention. The staff where very friendly and other passengers too. She loved the attention and that was what made the experience great for all of us. Many staff members have their kids at home and they are very good with the kids all over the ship. We never got any negative response.

(There was a grinning party of two old ladys that asked to be seated elsewhere when they got a table next to ours, but we didn´t feel bothered by that at all.

In the MDR there are high chairs available and they can also prepare special baby food. (If you toddler typically likes pureed potatoes and carrots with some sausage on the side, they can make it. You ask the maitre d a day in advance.)

We had Select dining. This way we got our own table every night and had different people around us. We could also eat whenever it suited us and there was no issues with us wanting to skip the starters f.ex.. She behaved well, but of course with some protesting during these eleven days. We just took her out for a spin if she got upset.

In the buffet they also have high chairs and they are open for breakfast early. We have a morning baby, so we enjoyed breakfast on our own every morning as they opened. I would consider bringing some sort of chair you can use in the cabin. They don´t have enough so you can have one there too. I like this one: http://www.totseat.com/english/home/

We did not go to the specialty restaurants other than Bistro on five. She did not pay a cover there.

We loved our cruise and went to play in the kids club every day with her. (We´ve been on 3 cruises before we had her, and the experience was of course different, but all in all, good.)

The biggest "problem" is the lack of changing tables in the bathrooms. There is only one onboard. Its up next to the kids club.Would have liked it to be one near the MDR and the other venues. We covered the end of the sofa with some towels and a changing mat at changes her mostly there throughout the cruise. That worked fine, but it was a bit annoying to go all the way to the cabin. If I had known in advande, i would have chose a cabin close to the elevator near the mdr.

You should be aware that your stroller should be quite narrow to fit through the stateroom door. Our babyjogger city mini gt just fit, but our regular stroller would not have fit.

Please ask, if you have any questions. I did a lot of research and have a lot of pictures of the baby stuff.

    Have a wonderful cruise :)

  11. On one of our cruises The kids (had none at the time) spent the cruise making a show, and on the last day, they had a show in the main theater. It looked like they had a great time. We just peeked in. I think it was about 20-30 kids in total onboard. September 2012, silhouette in the adriatic.
