We used our Skymiles. I don't remember how much the trip cost.

We cruised in late June and I packed too many warm layering pieces and not enough tshirts and light weight pants.

We are from Tampa. We flew into Seattle and spent 2 days there, took the train to Vancouver, and the next day we took a northbound cruise ending in Seward. We had 2 days post cruise in Alaska and then flew home. We packed a lot into our Seattle time and I feel like we saw all the main sights-Space Needle, Chiluly Garden, EMP, aquarium, Pike Place Market, and West Seattle/Aliki (sp?) beach. Depending on your interests in Seattle, I think you could reduce your time there and add it to land time in Alaska. Just an idea. Look into Alaska Airlines. I don't know about Miami, but they have a direct flight out of Tampa. They also partner with Delta, so we could use our miles. Enjoy your trip. The northwest was a welcome change from the heat and humidity of a Florida summer!

I booked a dog sled tour independently with ERA out of Juneau. We did the Extended Adventure and got to help harness the dogs, brush them, and feed them in addition to the sled ride. We also got to eat lunch on the glacier. This tour lived up to all my expectations and then some. It was the highlight of our our cruise. In Hoonah, we did whale watching with Misty Bay Lodge and had a great time.

Thank you for the information!

We took our 3 year old who could swim and had no fear of any kind of animal. She loved it!

If you decide to stay in Wasilla, I recommend the Best Western Lake Lucille Inn. Beautiful setting on the lake and free breakfast. Large clean rooms. Quiet. The only downside-no elevator to the second floor.

Yes there are versions for both. If you look in your appropriate app store you will see it. If it doesn't work, it wouldn't be there. You need to download and install the app before you sail. You can do it right now if you want.
Thanks for answering my question!

This is probably a dumb question, but I'm not that good with technology. Does iConcierge work with android phones or only Apple products. DD and I have iPhones and DH has Samsung.

We are thinking about doing the river tubing excursion. My husband is almost 7 feet tall and weighs around 260 lbs. He meets the weight limit, but will he be terribly uncomfortable in the tube? Has anyone who is really tall done this excursion and could offer some advice?

My daughter didn't burn, but her face definitely got some sun when we were on the glacier dogsledding. The mushers actually put sunscreen on the dogs' noses and the insides of their ears to prevent sunburn.

We all had to weigh in for the ERA helicopter tour in Juneau. Even my husband who was prebooked with the extra weight allowance.

We took the train from Seattle to Vancouver and enjoyed it very much.

Loved your first review and looking forward to the rest of this one!

Subscribing! We are looking at this ship for a cruise in March. Thanks for the great review!

I was talking to a new TA this morning and she suggested booking an ocean view guarantee on a March sailing on the Getaway. She said that since the Getaway didn't have many ocean view cabins that would accommodate our party of 3, there was a good chance we would end up with a family ocean view or even a balcony. We have never sailed Norwegian and were wondering if that idea is reasonable.

Above is the link to info for the fishing trip I did this year in Ketchikan. Also, try your cruise's roll call and ask if anyone wants to share a fishing excursion.

Try calling the Seward Hertz office directly. That's what I did when I was having trouble booking on line.

We went to the Palmer Reindeer Farm. My 10 year old DD loved feeding the reindeer and elk.

When I first started planning my trip to Alaska, I wanted to do everything--flight seeing, glacier landing, bear viewing. I quickly realized how expensive these tours were and that I didn't have that kind of budget. I decided that dog sledding on a glacier was my top priority, so I adjusted the budget elsewhere, including our time in Alaska post-cruise to just one day. My time on the glacier was magical and I'm happy with my choices. Do what will make you happy AND let you sleep at night!

Are you going for the dolphins or just the beach/water park? I've done the dolphin swim at both and the experience at Blue Lagoon was far superior.

Icy Strait Point is also good for whale watching.
