I took only one 7 day cruise in 2016. I felt deprived as I'd take three or four cruises in some years. I love cruising but i'm thinking of making 2017 the year of trying out some all inclusive resorts.

Am I the only person who goes to sleep, wakes up, realizes they can't return to sleep and decides to check out cruise critic? I guess I'll be back in the morning. Later in the morning.

No worries. I couldn't leave now even if I wanted to, and believe it or not, I've tried. I keep coming back hitting the refresh button hoping for more. I guess I have a case of the "doug factor" too.

Deck 1 midship. Cheapest, less motion & super quiet. Other than you and your cabin neighbors, no one else goes down there. Easy access to/from gangway on port day.
I was thinking this. I've stayed in a lower deck porthole and it was like a ghost town down there. Sure it was far away but I didn't mind the walking, in fact, I welcomed it.

Zero for the past year and nothing booked but there was one year that I did sail on the Breeze twice for a total of 12 days.

I just read all 31 pages in one sitting and I almost hate that I found it prior to completion.
Your efforts are appreciated. I'll be tuning in tomorrow (if I don't check back in later tonight).

I also want to thank you for the review. I was wondering about the wreckfish and was pleasantly surprised that your husband ordered it. It looked very good.

A thread on how/when/why I missed my flight might be pretty entertaining and/or informative.

On two separate Carnival cruises I was permitted to dine alone at breakfast or lunch but not dinner. Go figure.

The option to dine alone in the main dining rooms is one of the things I like best about NCL. I am okay with joining others (on occasion) but I don't mind eating alone and sometimes am not in the mood for the "what's your name, where are you from, what do you do" from random strangers. I hate to admit it but I have created a fake persona - fake name, fake hometown, fake job.
When other lines started their versions of anytime dining I was pretty excited until I discovered it only meant flexibility with the time you ate, you still had to be seated with a group.

I've learned that I am perfectly okay with an inside or studio cabin. Before I had my first balcony I thought they must really be something special the way people went on about them. My first balcony I went out, looked around, chatted with my neighbor for a few minutes and never went back out there. Second balcony/mini-suite I don't even think I bothered with going out there. For me, balconies are a complete and total waste of money. I will likely never book higher than oceanview though I will accept a balcony if prices drop.

Barring last minute options I haven't seen much in the way of great bargains for solos lately. I've seen acceptable prices at double but no deals or discounts. I'm always looking and I'm not brand loyal. I can only hope that things will change in the coming months.

I am all about the ship and the slow, relaxing pace of sea days. I haven't yet done my first transatlantic but maybe 2017 will be the year.

Thanks for the review.
That casino win was sweet!!! I hit the jackpot twice on my Epic cruise a few years ago. Of course, I was playing a penny machine BUT the jackpot was still $300.

Glad I stumbled across this today. Your review and photos are much appreciated. I cruise solo and I buy a new journal before each cruise to document my trip. The real fun is not reading my journal for about 6 months after the trip. It's always cool to read about something that you had forgotten about.

I am all for once a day service. I usually travel solo. I don't need much and I keep my room more than tidy. Seriously, I'm so low maintenance that I could probably get through a 7 day cruise without having my room serviced at all.

Years of lurking and reading CC several times per week and I finally feel compelled to try my hand at posting.
My biggest gripe isn't NCL specific. I am totally annoyed by the people on team "the customer (in this case cruiser) is always right". Let's face it, sometimes people are dead wrong. They are rude and/or disrespectful to crew and other guests but they simply do not care. I can respect complaint threads but when your complaint is basically "so and so didn't kiss my butt" it can be irritating.
$50 Deposits

I took advantage of the $50 deposit to book. I didn't want to waste a cruise next deposit on something so far out (2018) and the $50 deposit was the perfect solution.
