  1. Hi everyone, we are sailing on the Harmony to St. Maarten, San Juan and Labadee. Does anyone have a cruise compass for this cruise. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could assist us by posting it or steering us to an online copy.

We are really looking forward to sailing this beautiful new ship. We have sailed the Oasis and Allure but would like any information about anything new or different from the other Oasis Class ships.

Also, would enjoy dining info. What did you like or dislike. MDR menu's would be helpful also Costal Kitchen menu's. (yes we are booked in a suite):)

  2. Medicare does NOT pay outside of the US and a secondary insurance does NOT pay for anything if Medicare does not pay primary. I know this from personal experience. My husband had a stroke in Acapulco and had to have a Medivac flight back to the US. To the tune of $24,000. dollars. Called Medicare and told NO payments outside of the US and its territories. Then called our secondary insurance which I knew had emergency evacuation insurance and was told that if Medicare would not pay neither would they. What a learning experience!!

  3. We are just off a 10 days sailing of the Adventure of the Seas. On our first night in the Main Dining Room it was announced that for the following nights for dinner that shorts would not be permitted. This announcement was a first for me on my past 6 sailings with Royal Caribbean.

There is also a Johnny Rockets aboard the Adventure of the Seas that charges $6.95 for a meal. But you can have as much food as you want. Burgers, fries, onion rings, ice cream sunday's. Also, their shakes are very good.

  4. Hi, really need help. Leaving for 10 day cruise in March on the Adventure of the seas. We will be in port from 8 am to 10 pm, our first time in this port. We would like to possibly beach/shop during the day, return to ship, clean up and go back out to dinner.

2 big questions, what beach would you suggest and how to get there, we do not snorkel. And restaurants that are fun, possibly on the beach or beach view, with or without entertainment. Since this is our first time, that aren't to far from the cruise port. Don't want to miss the ship, lol.

  6. Thanks to all especially Coloradogurl. I now have a new perspective on this upcoming cruise.

However, I now need to know where to stay for our first time in San Juan. Thinking of Dorado but want a nice hotel where we can definitely walk to restaurants and nightlife. We are only going 1 day prior to cruise. Not something super expensive but NICE and clean, maybe with breakfast.

Also, am I right in thinking that it will cost about $70. US to get from the airport to the Dorado area?

And does the Adventure leave from the pier in Old San Juan? If not where from and about how much will a cab cost from Dorado or Old San Juan.

Any other additional info would be appreciated

  7. Have only sailed Oasis Class ships. Hoping this will not be a disappointing cruise from San Juan.

Normally once aboard the ship we proceed to the Park Café for a roast beef sandwich. But it is my understanding that there is no Park Café aboard so I am wondering where everyone goes to get a meal once aboard the Adventure. And what would be good to eat. I know that the ship is going to be refurbished in October and am waiting to find out what will be new.

  9. We are cruising from San Juan next March for the first time. We will arrive 1 day prior to sailing. Don't necessarily want to stay in old San Juan but out side possibly.

Thinking of Condado. But want a hotel that you can absolutely walk to restaurants and night life. Don't want to spend a fortune but want something nice. Aside from hotel recommendations please give us a dinner and breakfast suggestion. Also, any fun places for nightlife in Condado near a hotel suggestion.

Also in research I think that a cab ride from airport to Condado would be about $70.00 US. Is this about correct? Also, if staying in Condado where will the Adventure depart from? The pier in Old San Juan or elsewhere? If elsewhere, where, how long and cost to get to it.

    Thanks for your help

  10. ColoradoGurl and Doug S, Your information was really helpful and appreciated your novel. We really weren't sure if we would like visiting islands day after day but we are going to try it.

Is there anything special to do or see on these small islands. We do not snorkel. And we are at most of the islands til 5pm. This is the 7 day cruise on Adventure.

However, yesterday before the sale ended, I booked the 10 day cruise aboard the adventure also. We will decide before November which we will do.

ON one of those islands we will be there until 10pm. Don't know which one as of this writing.

But thank all of you for the responses.

Doug, how did you enjoy the Marriott Solaris, really considering staying there.

  11. We will be sailing out of San Juan Puerto Rico next April. While we were just in San Juan in March for the first and only time I did not notice where we might check in for our cruise in April 2017. Please give me any and all information that you may have. The only port we have sailed out of prior to this is Fort Lauderdale.

Also, I just noticed that we leave San Juan at 8:30 pm. What time will they allow us to board the ship? And what time will the cabins be available to use. What if any restaurants will be open for us to eat at? What restaurants on the Adventure are good to eat at. We have never sailed with Royal on anything other than Oasis Class ships. Will we be disappointed?????

We are really looking forward to these smaller islands but don't want to be disappointed by the ship.

    Opinions PLEASE!

  12. We too are sailing from San Juan in April 2017. This will be the first time sailing out of San Juan and we need some help in deciding on a hotel and area. We don't want to stay in Old San Juan but also don't want to be out in the sticks somewhere.

We are looking for an area that we can possibly walk the beach, enjoy hotel pool, shop and have some entertainment. Not at all familiar with anything outside of OSJ. It will be myself and 2 adult daughters.

With hotel and area suggestions please let me know approximately how far from cruise port they are.

    Appreciate the help.:)

  13. Hi, I need your expert advice. Although we visited San Juan for a few hours last month we did not see enough to know where we might like to stay on our next cruise leaving from San Juan.

What airport do you fly into from the US. While we don't want to stay in Old San Juan we don't want to be very far from the cruise port. Please tell me what areas would be nice to stay in, beaches, hotels, shopping and entertainment wise. We don't want to be in a secluded area with only the hotel for entertainment.

Also, how did you get around. Did you rent a car or take cabs everywhere. If you rented a car is the driving easy or difficult.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

  14. Have been there once before, but with Royal Caribbean tour. Would like to do it again on our own. Are there taxi's or shuttles that leave from the cruise port and if so how much do they cost. Also, are there taxi's waiting at Magen's bay to bring you back?

  15. I was thinking of a tour of Old San Juan but this thread makes me think it's really not far from the ship and something we can walk to or take a taxi to. This is our first cruise to San Juan and would really like to do something other than a beach, snorkel or boat tour.

Please, anyone with specific info please give me some ideas of how we can make the most of our day in port. We are there til 11pm
