  1. Curious, what is the age limit for KSF ?? Got a 9YR going onto 10 for next cruise. Now with a KSF+UBP promo, do you still get an OBC as well ?? I don't know why, but I have always had it, and would feel like I am gambling on giving up the hard cash (credit on account) vs taking something I may or may not make good use of, enough to cover the value of the previous OBC's offered.

Actually KSF (Kids Sail Free) is a misnomer...it is any guests 3-8, age doesn't matter.

  2. Just a little more info.... Especially to Ncl who reads these boards..

This family books NCL based on Price....Dates....Itin....with some obc thrown in lol

In no particular order btw....so free stuff isn't swaying us to book

Fwiw I want to book ba to Bermuda this June and I check your site 3x a day ..... But notice I haven't booked it due to price!!!!!

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

We booked the BA to Bermuda in June a while back at the beginning of February when the promos first started. We were able to get UBP and KSF, but the price has increases dramatically since then. You may have missed your window on this one.....for families, I think the key is to grab it while it is KSF instead of when it moves to KS50% as that shows additional bookings and likelihood of price drops all but disappear.

  3. When I was on the Epic I brought my old card. I did receive a new one in my room the first day. I noticed that there were different numbers, so I only used the new one. I assume each sailing gets a new number, or at least each ship.

  4. I also found the points on the Crap tables are low, in fact roulette is the same. Even though I am GOLDEN, my big issue with NCL is the CAS point system. Players (like me) who play $ 100 to $ 300 in 30 min. or so and leave a crap or roulette table and move to another, get squat for points because you did not stay at the table a long time.

I do not play slots (just not my thing), but I always spend an hour each day on them to get my point level up.

HOW STRANGE...you spend/loose $200 to $400 in 30 min on a table game and get noticeably less points than if you spend/loose $75 to $100 in 1 hour on slots.

Although I like casinos on NCL and RCL, I find that it depends on the host.

CAS can be beneficial, but...what you are offered is NOT always what you receive. It's like "guess what our offer is today".

Anyone else in this boat or do I have and "obstructed view"?

Thnx & looking forward to NCL Breakaway 6/7/15

Hal, I also am looking forward to that sailing.....likely we will be in the casino at the same time.....I'll likely be playing video poker.....good luck! :)

  5. The VP isn't optimal but it works.....last time on Epic had 2 x $1,500 hands (W2G), 2 machines pay out $1,000, and 2 others between $500 and $900. Didn't leave in the positive, but had one heck of a time playing big on their $.......

2 times before that on NCL, nothing major, but quite a few in the $500-$900 range.

  6. How long after a cruise will CAS contact you ( send you a post card) if you qualify for a free cabin and/ or get invited on a free cruise? Or you do have to call them? The last time I got anything was in 2010 so it's been a long time. I put in a lot during my last cruise ( and even won a jackpot) but not sure if it was enough to get me anything. I don't want to be waiting at the mailbox

I got an email/call after my first cruise with NCL from CAS within 1-2 weeks. However, since then, I have always called my rep back asking, rather than waiting for anything.....since its been a while, I would suggest calling and see what they say.....can't hurt. :)

  7. Actually on an 80% payback slot, it would be $14K run through.....$14,000 * 20% expected take = $2,800.....or at $5 a point, 2,800 points

    On a 95% video poker machine, it would be $56K run through.....$56,000 * 5% expected take = $2,800.....or at $10 a point, 5,600 points

My numbers usually fall within this range (4,500 points on last cruise), but was still told my theoretical loss was less than the $2,800 required for an OV.....so she went back one cruise when I complained.....had to have OV to get UBP... :) I will be checking with the host on my next one to make sure I am thinking about this correctly.

  8. vp is like 3% house edge at the $5 level. (8/5 JoB)

    2000/.03 = $66.7k needed through the machine

Do you think they take the optimal house edge here or some sort of modified % based on the fact that less than 5% of the population can play at 100% accuracy against optimal play? I always kind of assumed they took a blended number.....

Also, on the Triple Play and Five Play $0.25 machines, the house edge is actually about 5%......I ran both through my VP app (for Double Double Bonus and Triple Double Bonus)....

  9. When I was just on the Epic, they gave me a hard time in the casino breaking more than one $5 into singles......actually had better luck working with the servers to get it done as the week progressed.......just like a cruise ship to give you a hard time to tip their servers with dollars....but did not hear about any fees there when breaking $100 into $20 bills.......

  10. Norwegian Cruise Line has introduced a new enhanced room service menu that is debuting on board Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Breakaway. The new menu offers an expanded selection for breakfast in addition to a wider variety of options available on the 24 hour menu. Individual items on the menu remain available on a complimentary basis and a convenience charge of up to $7.95 will be added to each order placed. Room service is one of up to 29 dining options offered across the fleet, and guests continue to be able to enjoy a wide array of complimentary choices onboard 24 hours a day.

Can you please provide a copy of these "enhanced" menus?

  11. The only things to consider, which have not been mentioned, are:

    5. Freestyle Cruise Rewards Deposits are valid for sailings of 6 days or longer.

You can only use it on a 6 day or longer cruise

    6. Limit one (1) Freestyle Cruise Rewards Deposit may be used per stateroom; and may be used as the full deposit for all staterooms except Specialty Suites, The Haven and Garden Villas (staterooms requiring enhanced deposit). One (1) Freestyle Cruise Rewards Deposit may be used as a partial deposit towards the full required deposit for Specialty Suites, Courtyard Villas and Garden Villas.

You can only use 1 per cruise

Technically, you can use more than 1 per cruise. It is per stateroom. If you and your significant other each buy one, then book 2 rooms on another cruise, you could use both at the same time (provided you "book" in separate cabins).

  12. Here is a copy of the review I just submitted:

We had a great time on this ship! The only time(s) it felt crowded was when we had muster, or when coming/going from a port. We stick mainly to the inside activities (casino high on our list). I will try to get as much on here as I can remember:

    Embarkation:

Went smoothly, were through security and on the ship within 30-45 minutes. We went to Taste for our first lunch.

    First Night:

We had made reservations for Taste before we left for the port. We were seated quickly. No major issues with the food or service.

    Sea Day One:

We spent a lot of time in the casino. Drink service was good. Participated in Deal or No Deal, but were not picked to play the main game. Dinner was at Cagney's. Steak was really good! We went to our reserved showing of Blue Man Group on this night. No issues getting super seats by showing up 30 minutes early. More casino action after the show.

    Sea Day Two:

More time in the casino (seeing a theme yet?). Did Deal or No Deal again (held in Atrium, not enough space, needs to be moved to theater or somewhere else). Played bingo....I won, for the first time ever, but had to split with 2 other people (at least I won our entry fee back). Started to do quite well in the casino. A few video poker machines paid out more than $1,000. Went to Legends show. I wish they would have closed with the Jimmy Buffett impersonator, but just personal preference. Ate at La Cucina (my favorite each time). More late night casino action.

    Ocho Rios:

4 members of our group did the zip-line/bobsled excursion. All were fans! My wife and I kept it simple and just walked around/shopped. Ended up at the Old Pub right by the pier. 2 drinks for $10, 2 Red Stripes for $9, and we shared some Jerk Chicken for like $12. They had WIFI, not the best quality, but it worked. :) We ate at Le Bistro this night. Wasn't expecting a bunch since I am not really into that style of cuisine. However, it was really good! I had the Swordfish and many in the group tried Duck for the first time. More late night casino!

    Grand Cayman:

Took a tour to the Turtle Farm and Hell. We had been here before, so we had specific desires on what to see. Was a great time! The other 4 spent the afternoon at the beach, but we headed back to the ship. Pretty uneventful afternoon/evening.

    Cozumel:

We had reserved Mr. Sanchos back in November. We go there pretty much each time we go to Cozumel. Highly enjoyable! We met some great people from our ship, other ships, and the bartender was the same as last time. Many beverages were consumed. I highly recommend to anyone going there for the day! After we were back on the ship, we tried the noodle bar for dinner. The spring rolls were awesome! Went to the late night comedy. The main guy was really good. The first two women catered more to slapstick/television comedy. We were not that impressed with them, but hey, we are on vacation, so no worries. More casino action in the evening!

    Final Sea Day:

You guessed it, more casino action. We had decided to book Moderno as well, so we slipped it into this slot. Had a great time there as well. We didn't get any desserts as they didn't seem that appealing. I had been before, and nothing jumped out at me on that front. Finished the night in the casino, where we got a few machines to heat up again and had a few pay out more than $1,000. Finished strong there.

    Debarkation:

We went to breakfast at Taste and then did self debark. Felt like we flew through the ship and customs and were on our way.

    Other notes:

There were 6 of us. 3 were first time cruisers. 2 people had UBP, 2 people had drinks on us cards, and the other 2 were soda/pay as you go. We met a wonderful server in the casino named Fernando. He took care of us each time he saw us. The other people in our group spent a lot of time at Spice H2O, and had great service from someone they called "Caeser Salad". Sounded like he was a good guy! Overall, it was fun, and we already have 2 more on the books....now just to convince the rest of them to get on board again. :)

  13. I was just looking around in the casino area for info like this.I can get 10% off as well with our citi card and was wondering if they give you a hard time gambling with the e cards ?

We already bought 10 x $100 ecards for $900 and I was going to buy another 10 today, its like having another $200 total in OBC to spend

Has anyone done this and can confirm no problems using in the casino ?

    Thanks

We did this on our last Triumph cruise and experienced no issues. Good luck with the gambling!
