  1. I would do that, too. Even Vancouver. Never been north. Wish it were an option!

I'm with you on this. There is a 10 day r/t out of Vancouver that goes as far south as Los Angeles. I truly wish they would do a similar one out of Los Angeles going to Vancouver and back.

  2. I totally see your point. But, on the other hand, it has been to my benefit that the cabin steward had that key. One time I had my hands full and my son was in the shower with the deadbolt on and I could not get in the room without creating a mess. Our wonderful CS swooped in to save the day with his master key.

We keep the do not disturb sign in place at all times unless we are out because sometimes we just like to kick back and watch movies and don't want the room serviced. We are super low maintenance cruisers.

  3. I realize that. I was responding to an earlier posting that suggested that the OP should get it renewed now. It's too late to send a passport away and hope that it gets renewed in time for a January cruise.

I was in a similar situation before I went to Alaska in late August and waited to renew when I got back. However, I sent my renewal right before the government shutdown and had it back in two weeks to the day I sent it out. The ace in the hole for the OP is that they could always travel with just the BC if they didn't get it back in time. I had no idea where my BC was so went the safest route.

  4. I can hear just fine and I love having the CC on along with the audio.

I wish they would have it on MUTS and in the gym all the time. It would be nice to have the option of using it in the cabins, as well.

That other poster was correct about catering to the demographic. Most cruisers are older and a majority have some sort of hearing impairment. This would be a small fix for Princess. Let's hope they are reading this board like the others and implement a change soon. Something so simple could really help a lot of people.

  5. We are considering this cruise in 2014 and could drive from the L.A. area. Where did you park in San Francisco and how much did it cost? Did any hotels have a park and sail package?

    Hi Susan,

We come from the same area and have done this two ways. Once we drove and parked in the lot a block away. IMHO big bucks for parking is money thrown in the toilet. Last summer(#2) we took the Megabus from downtown LA and paid as much for our round trip tickets as two days of parking. Bus drops you off a couple of miles away and you grab a cab or walk like we did. Just a suggestion to consider. Of course this may not be a good option for those with mobility issues. We are pretty adventurous so we loved it.

  6. I don't like hearing this. :( Had always thought it was a convenient way to keep protected from getting the noro virus. Thanks for this information.

The active ingredient that is in the widely used hand sanitizer does not kill the norovirus. The only hand sanitizer that I have found that has the active ingredient(benzethonium chloride) to kill noro is Gold Bond Hand Sanitizer moisturizer. The Purell stuff is almost useless in application, but it does prompt your brain to be more aware of hand washing for those that may not be of that mindset. Once again, a bigger advertising budget and market presence does not mean a better product.

  7. I was on the Golden October 24-28 and dropped my form in the box midway through the cruise. I just got the email on Monday, November 4 with my FCC confirmation. Give it a week, you will get it.

When I was on longer cruises I would get the confirmation in my cabin before I got off the ship. I think with these shorter cruises and especially with this last promotion they are fairly back up.

  8. We got off the Golden on the 28th. I asked the purser's desk to put us in the first group so my son could get to school in Torrance on time at 8:10am. He was about 15 minutes late. The people at the front desk could not have been more understanding. The 11th is holiday for many folks so the freeway traffic will be lighter.

  9. This special comes up on my Princess front page every time. It is a bit ambiguous, however. There are three boxes at the bottom of the page one says "Save up to $2000" next one says "3-Day Getaways from $199" and the third says "Support out Troops". You want the second box because if you read the rest of the verbiage it states "100% Princess Getaways, 100% off"

I attached a picture I took of my screen, but I have not been successful at uploading pictures to CC in the past. Crossing my fingers.
