  1. I will go to the slot pull even though I'm not a gambler although sometimes I do play the penny slots.  There is a meet & greet and I definitely will go to that.  I do appreciate all the encouragement and hopefully by the time I get on the cruise the worst of the nerves will be ovet.

  2. Sorry for your loss as well. This will be my second cruise on Conquest too, that cruise the ship was almost brand new.  I have joined the roll call and already found some interesting people.  I will go to the Meet & Greet, think it's like a shot glass exchange.  I will try to participate in as many activities as I can but when I want to relax I booked a balcony as I find being near the sea always makes me feel so serene.  Thanks for all the good advise and wish me luck on my new adventure!

  3. Thanks so much, a lot of my friends and family think I'm crazy for doing this alone but I'm determined to start doing things on my own and not always wait to see what everybody else wants to do. I look at it as another adventure I wouldn't have if I don't just do it!!

  4. Thanks and I know about the super bowl so booked an early flight out the same day.  Usually come in a day before but went into sticker shock when I saw the prices.  I'm flying in from the Florida panhandle so not a long flight but still nervous about delayed flights.  Fingers crossed.

  5. Booked my first solo cruise for February 1st  on the Carnival Conquest. Really nervous but excited at the same time. Even though I've been on almost 30 cruise, I've done most of them on Carnival and never had a bad cruise, excluding rare weather issues. I've done a couple of cruises with John Heald as the cruise director and those were some of the best so I choose a cruise he would be on again.  Hope to touch base with anyone else who will be on board as well.  I've been thinking of this for the past few months but always cruised with my husband and family but my husband passed away almost a year ago so have to start a new chapter and get on with my journey.

  6. Lost my husband 9 months ago and still not sure about doing a solo cruise since I've always gone with my husband and family for many years.  I did a family cruise in February and we buried my husband's ashes at sea as he wanted.  Carnival did a wonderful job and having so many family there made the memorial so much more meaningful. Now I need to rethink cruising and start a new chapter in my life, just need to lose my fears and go for it!!

  7. the both have the same view. But 4197 will get you closer to everything. Food/ Pools/ Dining room and the only time you need to travel is to the show lounge

Thanks so much, I just moved my sister to 4197 from 4141 and I know she wanted some kind of view since the last cruise she was right in front of a lifeboat. I moved her because the rest of the family all have aft cabins.

  8. I have only been in an interior spa room on the Dream, but I can describe two nice benefits besides all of the good ones everyone here has discussed so far.

    A) There are very few children in the spa cabins. I don't mind children being on my cruise, but it is kind of nice that they won't be running around in my hallway. In other words, it is a bit quieter in general.

    B) If you are very close enough to the spa, it can be a time saver getting ready for dinner. When my wife and I are showering, dressing, getting ready for dinner, it can get kind of tough with only one shower. So she will use the one in the cabin, and I just grab my things and go down to the spa to do so. Sometimes the shower in the spa can be a lot nicer than in the cabin anyway. :D

Most of the time A is probably true but on our February cruise on the Magic we were in a balcony spa cabin and right next door to us was a family with 2 children under 5 so you never know.

  9. We were in the spa balcony cabin on the Magic in February and agree with all the previous posters, you will love the spa cabins. There was a private elevator I remember to get to the spa and I really loved the heated loungers, so relaxing. Also, had my hair done a couple to times and the hair products they use and sell were wonderful. Just enjoy your cruise and take advantage of all the wonderful perks of a spa cabin.

  10. Yes our sign and sail cards were our key to enter the thallasues pool area. You can bypass the front desk by taking the back elevator all the way up from the very front of the ship to deck 14. From there you just turn right and it’s literally a few feet away. If you are going to for a spa treatment you need to check in on deck 12...they keep your sign and sail card until you are done and then you get it back when you check out.

My husband booked the spa treatments during the Valentine’s Day 20% sale. There was a promo code he had to enter online during checkout. If you book 3 services (only specific ones) you get 10% off the first, 20% off the second and 30% off the third I believe. Although I will mention in my review later the fiasco of pre-booking and paying for the spa ahead of time. What a nightmare. This was the only hesitation that I have about booking a spa appointment ahead of time and pre-paying. What a nightmare when they chrarge you for the treatment again and what a hassle to get them to refund your money. I will talk about all that later.

I agree, awful system when you already pay and then they charge you again and try to explain why they have to do it that way. Still don't understand that concept. Even with the laundry when you're platinum they put all the laundry charges on your bill and hopefully it comes off at the end. Horrible and confusing book keeping.
