I honestly will be / am more worried about the norovirus on a cruise ship than coronavirus.
Just my opinion.
Not cancelling cruise in August to Alaska unless Princess does.

I am concerned that we would or could loose our OBC if we take the BSE.
Am I understanding that correctly?
It seems that getting the OBC as a stockholder and my husbands military OBC going away if we take this package would be a no brainer.

I find that if I refresh the page the information comes up.
Princess web site lately has been challenging. They need to upgrade.

Every time we book a cruise, I have a notebook folder which contains: airfare, cruise fare, itineraries and any hotel/car rentals for the trip. I like to keep those so I can compare costs. I also keep the daily patters and the final tally of the cruise miles and such. We take one photo when we board and that is our memorabilia (they are on the side of our refrigerator with magnets we have gotten <grin>).
I am currently going through the "cruise room" which holds all the special stuff required that we would not want or need for a land trip. Wow! Boy do I keep everything! They say that the spring cleaning is good for the soul. I am about to toss a lot and just keep the notebooks from every cruise.
Great subject!

2 or more PER CABIN and pay for 2
simple, really
Unfortunately I believe this is what BSE entails. Does not matter if only 1 is an adult, it is that 2 people have to pay for the BSE per cabin. Yes, I agree, give Princess a call and see if there is anything they can do to work around the automatic program that I am sure is the issue. Good luck!

After reading this vlog for several days and listening to the Dr.'s video that is a specialist in managing infectious diseases, I think this is why most of the countries that have received the passengers have added 14 more days. To do more testing and manage the possibilities of an outbreak of the virus among those there.
This is for their own benefit. What I gathered was that even though Japan and other officials tried to manage this
outbreak of the virus, it possibly was not done with the correct procedures.
I am praying that we hear that most of the passengers are doing okay. What has been done is done. Lets all hope that something good can from this bad situation.

Excellent explanation. If I had to guess, I'd bet that handrails on a cruise ship are cleaner than your average grocery store cart handle.
It makes me shudder when a woman leaves a public toilet stall and exits the bathroom without washing up. She's spreading germs everywhere she goes. Hopefully she washes those hands before prepping the next meal.
I think cruise ships should have an automatic sensor by the door saying, "Wash your hands please".

Yikes, I bet the medication thing could get out of control. I never thought about bringing an extra month supply in case of quarantine.
Also, why can't they bring you booze or pringles? Seems like a no brainer easy thing to do.
I usually take 2 weeks extra just in case. Now after seeing what's going on I am glad I do.
I would imagine that somehow they could get refills brought to the ship if it is mandatory medication. I am just guessing on this.

We have both book and card. We have given the card to customs when disembarking and had no issues. If they want to see the passport book well then no problem there either.
We leave the passport book on the ship and take the card with us basically for ID. This is when we got to Mexico, Caribbean, Alaska and Panama Canal.
I think the OP most likely just needs to use the passport book and not the card for Ocean Ready.
Like others have said the
card is almost useless.

We are again going on the Golden to Alaska this August.
That ship was our first experience with Princess and it was a lasting impression. We wanted to sail on her
one more time before she goes away.

Piggy Back question. We have PBP and also two free $32 bottles of wine. I hear that you can pay the difference over $32 for a more expensive bottle. So, can you apply the $32 token AND get 25% discount via PBP - feels like double dipping 🙂
I am wondering the same thing.
We did like the one wine we got on the last cruise but there was only one of its kind (Moscato) on the menu. We both have the PBP.

Oh sheesh! Again, the subject line went sideways. To add to it, I have no problem with them separating the peanut butter cookies from the rest, however please let us know where to get them. Put up a sign somewhere!
So, cookies on a Princess cruise ship ~ I vote for the Oatmeal cookies! (I do not want to hear about gluten allergies please).

We just got our OBC check from our cruise that ended on Jan. 2nd. so about 3 weeks.
I'm sorry yours took soooooo looooong to get back and the amount of effort on your part to get your monies back.
In comparison, that was not a small amount either so I can see why waiting that long was uncalled for.
I agree that Princess need to work on a faster way to give their customer the monies owed much faster than
by the old school way of cutting a check. In this day and age, this should not be how they do it.
Time for Princess to find a better accounting system.

Just checking as only used to Australian rule BUT this year we are going on a half world which is obviously in US$ Can we therefore (as suggested in your message) bring on wine at EACH port if we want to - not permitted on Australian based routes can only bring on at embarkation
We brought 2 bottles on several times and let them know it was wine. They said enjoy. We of course took them to the MDR and was charged the corkage fee as expected.
-
On our last cruise we bought a bottle of wine in the MDR. I was so surprised that they charged an 18% gratuity because they said they got it from Vines. Yeah, right. That's the way the charges were explained to me. I was also told that explanation was on the wine menu in the MDR. I looked. It is not.
I do not remember being charged gratuity on a wine bottle in the last few years (2015 - 2019). Is this something new?
Because of this tacked on charge we went out of our way to go buy wine and bring it on in each port. Even with the corkage fee in the MDR it still was 1/2 the cost of what we paid for from their "wine menu". Since they have changed the wine menu, IMHO, the selections are expensive.

How about something other than food pictures. No Princess Cays-? some venue pictures would be helpful? How about pictures if you go to St Thomas and St Maartin? Dining places, Bars, night club photos, all on the ship. Many people would like to see ship photos and land photos to give them idea of what to expect. Also, patter is hard to read and not very clear on the posts.
Wow! I appreciate what anyone does on their cruise as far as reporting live on CC.

2old4this, I just finished reading your journal. We have cruised to Hawaii from LA twice.
We also lived there for 3 years while my husband was stationed on Oahu. Hawaii has an
ambiance that is so calming and enjoyable.
Thank you for sharing! Aloha!

Start on 1-12: 182 lbs
Goal - Aug.8th (cruise to Alaska) 160#'s
Current weigh in today: 181lbs.
Exercise: have walked at least 4 miles a day for the last week. Sunday is rest day 🙂
Exercise goal: walk 5 miles a day to 7 miles a day
I am lucky that I can walk here in the office. Coworkers know what I am trying to achieve. We discuss in the office how all of us are trying to achieve weight loss and feeling better. Keto diet seems to be what they are doing. I do not think that is my cup of tea. What I told them I am doing (and chanting to myself) is: exercise more and eat less / better.

Well I saw that this was a featured vlog. Read up to this point and I want to join in.
Congrats to all of those who are staying on target.
Couple of years ago I lost 47 lbs. 213 to 163. I have slowly gained some of it back. I now weigh 181. I know what to do (I keep telling myself) as I have done it before. It is not easy. Its a change of mind set with food and actually thinking
about what your are eating, drinking and exercising daily.
We just got back 2 weeks ago today from a 15 day cruise. I refused to get on the scale for 7 days until I felt better. Ya know that always full feeling you get on a cruise? Yep. I was miserable. I was happy to see that I was the same weight as when I had left.
Now, I have 6 months to lose 20 pounds. I know that sounds easy to do. I have health challenges that make it a bit harder. But I know I have done it before and can do it again. Pay attention to the food I eat, drink more water and exercise. I currently have a goal of 4 miles a day walking and get there 70% of the time. I was sick this week but today I feel much better. My goal is to do at least 4 miles a day 6 days a week.
This vlog is good for support and education. Everyone has a weight challenge. Its the way our society has evolved.
Thanks for reading. Here's to making ourselves feel better!!

On our last cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale, I stopped by the wine table, told them I had 3 bottles and he directed me onto the ship
without collecting corkage fee.
Of course, we took those bottle to dinner in the MDR and was charged the corkage fee.
There was twice that we got off the ship, bought wine and brought it back on. Stated it was wine and they let us proceed.
I think it was because my husband was so forth coming that we were bringing bottles on with us they knew
we would be charged in the dining room. I told him later, hey if they don't ask then don't tell! Sheesh <grin>

On the Emerald they were putting paper straws in drinks last Christmas / New Years cruise.
Hubby was not too keen on it while sipping a Pina colada. He is not a fast drinker and the straw lost the fight.
Guess we will bring out own on.. 😞
-
Can't wait to hear the conclusion on this one.
We were just on the Emerald 2 weeks ago and not a peep that I heard.
Like someone else said, someone on CC would be causing a ruckus if this was evident.
She probably brought it on from the beach.
Too many questions..

That is a lot of OBC left over. I know that the only OBC that we get (Veteran's OBC) is the only item in the
OBC list that is marked as refundable. Otherwise we try to use as much as we can on excursions and on board purchases.
Last cruise we had $1600 OBC but only $250 was refundable.
We are currently waiting for a check as well for over $50.00.
Hope you get an answer soon.

Late September Alaskan Cruise
in Princess Cruises
Posted
Last time we went was the last week of August and the weather was wonderful. In the mid 70's. All the shops were open and you could tell it was winding down as far as tourism.
We are going again this year but the first week of August. Crossing fingers its comfortable weather.
