Looking to book Jewel of the Seas for British Aisle Cruise 2022. They sail in Jun-Aug. Is there a particular month that is better for weather and port calls? Thanks, this cruise sails 12 nights roundtrip out of Amsterdam and goes to Scotland, Ireland, and England. Thanks for any info
HiÂ
Here is a piece on Cruise Critic with British Isles Cruise Tips:Â https://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/articles.cfm?ID=1352
I hope you find it useful.
Happy cruising!

Hi everyone - are you on this first cruise right now? We would absolutely love to see your pix and hear your stories. We are following Costa's return to cruising with great interest and we wrote this yesterday:Â https://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/news/5576/
But we would love to hear it in YOUR words. Please do respond to this thread
Thank you

Hi VitaminSea53!
There's a great website called Cruise Critic where you can find out all this info and more. This piece will hopefully answer your question:Â https://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/news/5023/
Â
(Note this was written pre-Covid, but the features are still the same).

Thank you for following up. Accurate travel information really is a moving target at the moment. Are you mainly working from home and/or many staff furloughed?
Â
I can't go into the specifics, but yeah we've been hit pretty hard. There are just three of us now and trying to keep on top of all the news ain't easy.

Thank you for all your helpful comments. Unfortunately, it is proving impossible to keep this piece up to date with a skeleton staff, so we have elected to concentrate on specific regions. As one poster said: How is this useful when no lines are sailing? it isn't. So please feel free to check Cruise Critic (it's the drop down tab at the top that says "More" then drop down to News) where you will find all the latest updates on when the lines will return to service as well as pieces on regions including the Caribbean: https://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/news/5356/ Canada and New England: https://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/news/5358/ and -- as one poster pointed out where is Alaska? – right here: https://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/news/5298/
I hope this is useful to you

Is it the same as the Grandiosa? I cannot find any word of the ship on these boards/reviews. We are looking in to a 2021 cruise on her, so just checking. Perhaps because she is so new, there is such little information. 🙂

Â
Hi
You can always take a look at Cruise Critic:Â https://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/reviews/review.cfm?ShipID=1227Â we have some basic info there.

Thanks Portolan.  That is really helpful.  I seem to remember that at one time, the NCL ship  that circles Hawaii was registered in the US but I could be mistaken.
Â
Â
SusieQft - Sorry - I wasn't suggesting that the ports open up before it is safe too do so. Â There are huge differences of opinion as to when that could occur. Â I feel that it will be this summer while others believe that it will be next year. Â Time will tell.
Cruise Critic has a detailed explanation which you will find here: https://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/articles.cfm?ID=3363

I love this! Nice to see some good things happening in the industry, despite the current state of things.
Â
I don't see how they'd be able to socially distance themselves on a ship with it being such a confined space. Plus it's all the same people with nobody new coming or going. If they haven't found coronavirus onboard by now, it seems unlikely they will.
I agree Ashley. It's so hopeful! hopefully we will be able to get onboard soon!

Â
Today 4th March, both the Jewel of the Seas and Costa Diadema are scheduled to be docked in Doha
The Costa Diadema is docked in Abu Dhabi and the Jewel of the Seas is at sea between Doha and Dubai
Â
Also The MSC Bellissima and Aida Prima are scheduled to be docked at Mina Salman
The MSC Bellissima is at sea and the Aida Prima is docked in Abu Dhabi
Â
We are booked on the Azamara Quest on the 17th March for 11 nights Dubai to Dubai
Both these ports are on our schedule
Â
Its about time Azamara updated guests regarding docking facilities being refused at ports on this cruise
Â
Â
Hi Peter – are you asking if they are closed? Or have you heard they are closed?

South Korea bans cruise ships: Meanwhile, South Korea will temporarily suspend entry to cruise ships amid the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak, Vice Health Minister Kim Gang-lip said during a briefing Monday.
Cruise ships docking for purposes without people getting off, such as refueling and stocking up supplies, will still be allowed.
Two cruise ships scheduled to arrive in Busan tomorrow and on Wednesday have been canceled, as well as two others scheduled to arrive later in February.
Thank you!

I have just read that South Korea has closed its ports to all cruise ships to stop the virus spreading. I wonder how many more Asian countries will do the same over the next few weeks?Â

Hi
Thanks for pointing out this ommission. We have since added the link to P&O Cruises and also what little detail we have about Aurora:Â https://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/articles.cfm?ID=521#p&ocruises
It will take you straight there now and we will add detail as it becomes available,
Thanks

Thank you! Little to no action on the US site!
Â
If you have any specific questions, please drop me a line at editor@cruisecritic.co.uk. I have been with the line several times and know the ships well.
Happy to help!

You'll find a lot of information about the line and its two ships on CruiseCritic.com: https://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/reviews/cruiseline.cfm?CruiseLineID=108

How does the UK version differ?
It seems to have the same posts (except that I can't "see" the Roll Calls without creating another login).
Â
But the posts on, say, travel insurance seem to be the same as the non-UK (USA?) forum.
Â
I guess the main question is: What, if anything, are we missing by not reading/participating in the UK site?
(If nothing, why are there two different forums, requiring separate logins?)
Â
Thanks!

Hi!
Apologies for not responding sooner, for some reason I did not get an alert.
So your question - how do the sites differ/what are we missing by not participating in the UK site? – the answer is you are not missing anything on the Boards as the Boards are global, they are not by geo (although, clearly, more Brits post in P&O forums than non-Brits, for example). Same with Roll Calls – exactly the same wherever in the world you read them.
The differences are on the Editorial side of things – I/we (my small UK team) write UK-specific stories about lines such as P&O, Fred. Olsen, Saga, Marella etc. that are not really of interest to the US (the same thing happens in AU). The only way you can read them is if you click on the little flag on the bottom right, then you get to the site specific geo. It's the same with Features – the content is largely the same, but we make it relevant to UK readers. So you'll find all the content is there, it's just tailored to wherever you are in the world! Hope that helps. Any queries, drop me a line: editor@cruisecritic.co.uk

best wishes

We are working on plans to see Norway, and are reconsidering Hurtigruten. Initially we had ruled it out for a fjords cruise, since we thought they just do multiple short mailstops up and down the coast, without the longer port-stops featured by the typical cruiselines that facilitate the kind of shoreside exploration we like.
Â
Recently I have learned that some of their ships DO feature various excursions, perhaps depending on the time of year, so I thought I would re-evaluate the possibilities. But I was frustrated when I tried to check the company website for the kind of itinerary that most cruiselines feature, indicating the time of arrival and departure for each port. And sadly, my trusty northern European cruise guidebook is silent on Hurtigruten.
Â
Where might I find a current and reliable overview summary of what the Hurtigruten ships do and when, with shoreside explorations in mind?
Â
You might also want to try Cruise Critic, which is an objective and comprehensive source of information. It's just next door to these Boards, or try this link: https://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/reviews/cruiseline.cfm?CruiseLineID=73

There are regular direct trains from London Waterloo station to Southampton. Trains take around an hour and 15 minutes.
But I'm not sure if you are on the right Boards? This is for Celestyal Cruises, which are Greece-based and sail out of Athens.
