  1. Although not from the Noordam, here is a link to the current menus (Lunch, dinner, and late snack for both MDR and Lido Market Place) on the Nieuw Amsterdam to let you see the changes:

    Hi

Do you happen to have any for Koningsdam? Breakfast and lunch.

    Thanks!

  2. Someone needs to tell either NCL or Cruise Critic's editorial staff that Copenhagen is in Denmark, not Germany.

Apparently the Getaway will be cruising from Copenhagen, but the article says it will be based in Germany.

Thank you pointing that out. There was a bit of confusion as there were two announcements – one in Germany and one in the UK the following day, and I have now amended this error.

    Many thanks

  3. Hi everyone

we're very excited to announce that the Vice President of Marketing at P&O Cruises Christopher Edgington will be joining us for a live online chat on Wednesday December 2.

He will be talking about all things P&O Cruises, looking ahead to 2016 and answering any questions you have about the line.

The chat starts at 4pm on Wednesday, but you can post your questions now here: http://live.cruisecritic.com/Event/Cruise_Critic_Live_PO_Cruises_2016_and_Beyond

We look forward to you joining us next Wednesday!

  4. Booked for November, but I would appreciate your opinion about how similar the Escape is to the Getaway/Breakaway. I understand it is improved, but how so?

    Thanks!

    Hi

I am going to direct you to my just published piece which looks at what I felt worked, and what doesn't so well: http://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=2043

But in a nutshell, I'd say it is an improvement on the previous two: food, entertainment and bars are all up a notch.

  5. I'd like to know

when is Margaritaville open - is it for breakfast, lunch or dinner or any combination?

what is internet like, wondering if we will be able to use in our cabin?

Just over 3 weeks until we go and getting excited.

    Hi

Margaritaville was open for lunch, but not dinner on my cruise (s) – but these were two shakedown cruises and won't be indicative necessarily of when it will be open on your cruise.

Internet, as I posted above, is still patchy. It drops and sometimes you can't get on. I'll post the prices here for you. And yes, the ship is wi fi enabled so you can use it in your cabin.

  6. How will the new a'la carte approach in the restaurants that will be implementing it be handled for those with UDP and SDP?

Also, what kind of WiFi speeds are your Cruise Critic personnel experiencing on-board?

    Thanks :)

    Hi

So I asked the question about dining packages and moving to a la carte to VP International Operations Francis Riley and he assured me that all those pre-purchased would be honored. In terms of going forward, he said guests would be able to choose three-, four-, five-, six- or seven night Dining Packages as part of their rethink on food choice, as people simply weren't using the full 7-day package.

In terms of Wi Fi - very patchy still, despite doubling the bandwith. Also, impossible to get on my iPhone. It's better, but nowhere near Royal Caribbean's new high speed wi fi.

  7. Would love to know how long After Midnight and Million Dollar Quartet shows run respectively.

    Thanks!

    Hi

Can't help you with After Midnight, but I can tell you Million Dollar Quartet was one hour and 38 minutes – I know that because I took a photo (attached), and that's the time stamp – however, I feel that they may well have gone on a bit longer (perhaps 15 or 20 minutes) for encores and the fact it was an inaugural night, so I would say it would be more like an hour and 15 minutes or so.

  8. I am most curious about:

    • menu pictures of the restaurants/bars, particularly the new ones
    • the affect the new pool deck layout has on crowds
    • some rope course pics, that zip line that goes over the edge looks awesome
    • the new two person racing slide
    • Spice Grotto, how usable is it vs. just being a water feature
    • entertainment plans for brewhouse and 5 o'clock somewhere bar
    • Ala carte pricing

    Hi

    I already posted some menus.

Not sure about the pooldeck and crowds, I think that will have to wait till the ship gets to Miami – it was too cold and rainy in the UK!

I'm afraid I didn't get any ropes course pix as I was so busy taking pix of menus! But I heard it first hand that the zip line that goes over the edge of the ship is very scary. The two person racing slide looks awesome.

Can't help you with Spice Grotto.

In terms of entertainment – Brewhouse has a resident pianist Tom Wolf, who is sometimes joined by the cast of Million Dollar Quartet. And 5 o' Clock Somewhere has a resident band, Starlight Band.

  9. Are the Guppies age group (6 mo - 3 years) free in splash academy or is there an hourly fee for drop off?

    Hi

Guppies are near Splash Academy, but in a completely separate room and the hourly fee is $10. You can leave your kids for a maximum of 4 hours consecutively and you need to pre-book. Worth noting that there is only space for 10 kids at once, but there is a stay and play area. The drop off times are from 4.30 p.m. on Port Days and from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on Sea Days.

  10. Seeing menus for the Escape-only restaurants are top on my list.

    Hi

I've just got off Escape and have taken a bunch of pix of almost every venue, as well as some menus.

What is interesting, is that although there are a few new restaurants (Food Republic, Pincho, Bayamo, Maragaritaville), with some interesting menus, Norwegian has changed out ALL the menus onboard – even in restaurants like O'Sheehan's and Cagney's. Here's a story I wrote on it: http://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/news/news.cfm?ID=6617.

I'll post a few for you here, plus the new ones.

As you may be aware, Food Republic's menus are all on an iPad so hard to capture, but I attach one here.

Any further qs, please just ask.

  11. I did managed to post a question on the second link that Hattie posted from 'Laura'

Hopefully my question ( relating to the dress code for the QM2 voyage on the 29th October) will be put forward to the two Gentlemen.

    Bell Boy :)

    Hi Bell Boy

Your question is indeed in moderation, and we will be answering it shortly - make sure you tune in.

    Sorry about log in complications!

    Adam

  12. We’re very excited to announce we have lined up two senior Carnival execs – UK boss David Noyes and Cunard director Angus Struthers – for an exclusive Cruise Critic Live! chat tomorrow (Wednesday September 16) at 10.30 a.m. GMT (sorry U.S. folks – it was the only time they were available; but the good news is you can post questions now and look at the chat in your leisure after it's finished!).

The pair will be answering all your burning questions about Cunard and Carnival UK in an hour-and-a-half long chat.

Whether it’s next year’s refit of Queen Mary 2, or more details on next year’s World Cruises or anything on this year’s momentous 175th Anniversary – ask away.

    The link is here: https://client.scribblelive.com/Event/Cruise_Critic_Live_Cunard_A_Look_Ahead_to_2016_--_And_Beyond

    Please join us tomorrow!

  13. We are onboard right now. Lots of precautions in place. Library books removed, hand gel stations everywhere, served in buffet etc and no ice on martini bar. Had not spoilt our trip in any way, just giving ourselves more time to do things like breakfast being served. Not heard of any delay onboard for next cruise

    Hey Tiggertastic

How are you? Hope all is well.

I'm just trying to find out how long the departure is delayed for, whether it'll be just a few hours or overnight?

Any info, please send it my way.

    Thanks!

  14. On our May cruise on the Equinox, brunch was served from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm on sea days. The menu was the same each day, and included breakfast items such as omelets, pancakes, and waffles, and lunch items such as soup, grilled salmon and a crab cake burger. Lunch was served from noon to 1:00 pm on port days, and there was only one or two different menus. We only saw one menu since we only went once, but I recall hearing there were two menus. Lunch included items such as a hamburger, and I believe a pasta dish and soup, among other items (which I cannot remember specifically.)

Hi cruiserchuck – jumping in here as I'm trying to update our Eclipse review, and I'm missing some information on Luminae (it had only just opened when I was on it).

You mention about lunch on port days being served from 1-2 pm – seems really short, is there a reason for that? Also, was it open on Sea Days?

    Thanks!
