I wonder how many people besides those who follow cruise critic were able to take advantage of the error or even knew it was an error.
It was all over all of the FB cruising groups I am in, some RC and some not. It was also all over Instagram and Twitter.

I am not sure of the order of things.... But I knew a woman who took a cruise and was going to get off at the last port for her daughter's wedding in the Bahamas. Unfortunately we missed that port, NCL said it was because the port messed up the paperwork. The woman missed her daughter's wedding.

Correct, so it is at least a day each direction that they could lose outside deck access because it is too cold if they sail in March. In October or September, that is not the case. I have sailed Anthem in September, November, January and February and even though we went through the leftovers of a hurricane, September was the warmest cruise.
He asked for opinions, I gave mine based on my experience. You gave yours based on your experience. It's ok that they differ. Everyone is different and likes or dislikes different things. That's why these forums are great, different perspectives. Have a good day.

September is hurricane season but March is still winter. March out of Bayonne is not going to be warm and could still have snow. September could be 50s to 90s, never know at that time of year.
That's not always the case. I have cruised out of Bayonne several times in March and it wasn't an issue. Once you get to Florida, it won't matter anyway.

March would be better than September from NJ?
Isn't September hurricane season?

Looking to narrow down some choices for our cruise next year. We're looking at the same itinerary but different dates on different ships
Itinerary: 7 night Orlando/Perfect Day/Nassau out of New Jersey.
1) Oasis (will be amplified) - Sept or Oct 2020
2) Anthem - March 2020
We've cruised 3 times:
1) 2014 on Allure - loved it, but memory isn't completely clear
2) 2018 on Grandeur - loved it
3) 2019 on Independence - had a good time, but had some issues with the ship, some over crowding (which we learned to handle as the cruise went on) and layout issues. Wouldn't completely prevent us from doing a Freedom class again
Things that appeal to us about Anthem
- new class of ship for us
- we want to try wonderland
- skydiving sounds fun
- seems like it's very different from other classes, and would be a fun to try something new
Things that appeal to us about Oasis
- newly renovated
- huge ship, lots of space and things to do
- want to try 150 Central Park (didn't manage to on our 2014 allure cruise)
- new BBQ place might be interesting
- would be interesting to try an Oasis class again now that we have more RCCL experience under our belt
We would just like some thoughts to help us narrow down which ship we would want to take. We would have a great time on either. We're a couple in our 30's without kids and the port is in driving distance.
I love Anthem and have been on her three times in the last year. I will be going on the Oasis next Aug. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Weather wise, Mar would be better.

Seems they decided to honor the mistake, np, then it should apply to everyone.
I plan to call tomorrow an demand I get the $18 price and everyone else who paid the full price should as well.
This isn't like an airline mis-pricing some odd route that maybe 10 people might get.
It's cute that they're 'owning' their mistake, but they're just screwing over anyone who missed the deal.
The drink package prices change all the time. On my last cruise I watched the prices almost daily, the lowest price I ever saw was $42. I got it for that, I am certain there are others who paid more. Should they call and demand they get it for $42? No they shouldn't, they missed that price just like you missed the $18. Please stop.

Thread should not have been merged, that's a bad on the Mods.
For those getting so sanctimonious about my semi-serious post griping on RCI honoring the mistake, y'all need to follow the travel industry on a wider basis. There are norms on how this is handled and RCI blew it, big time.
They had two options:
1. Confirm that was the published price and all sales stand, with or without admitting the mistake.
2. Announce it was an error and refund all purchases.
Instead, it's a back-n-forth PR scramble.
For perspective, when airlines make pricing mistakes, it almost always limited to certain city pairs and dates, making the mistake viable to literally a handful of travelers. Broadly available mistakes, like the UA/Krone thing, are immediately reversed.
So, if the error was limited to one sailing of Grandeur, fine, most wouldn't qualify anyway. That's the difference and RCI's screw up.
Someone get boatseller a rock.

It was my experience that my TA was not told about my upgrade.

Do you mean you received a confirmation that they received your bid the Friday of the same week or do you mean the accepted your bid and let you know that Friday?
They let me know that Friday I won the bid.

Thanks for the input.
Was wavering over which categories to bid on. You helped me drill in on it. Did you find out just before the cruise? Since we usually don't know our cabin assignment on GTYs till just before sailing, that isn't an issue for us.
Our cruise was in late April. I got the email on Presidents Day, I only know this because I was off work that day. I got thrle confirm email the Friday of the same week.

I don't agree. They are literally saying that they don't know what happened, while non-technical people people will understand that they do. This could also be understood as "we're not telling you". Of course you write a lighthearted e-mail when it is to bring good news, but I think the average member of the public doesn't like to be lied to, or to be told that it's none of their business. I would have chosen not to mention a list of possible reasons at all.
ANYONE and I mean ANYONE who can find ANY fault with that letter needs to crawl under a rock and stay there for eternity.

Received our RoyalUp for the Anthem 9 night sailing to NE on 9/12.
We have a Jr Ste gty booked, and the minimum bids are as follows:
Grand Suite, from $350 pp
Owners Suite, from $550 pp
Sky Loft Suite, from $800 pp
Would love to hear opinions from those who've sailed Anthem. We are definitely bidding on the Grand Suite.
Sailed anthem in April of this year. Won our bid for a sky loft suite from a Jr suite. We agressively bid about $1000 because we wanted in. I believe the minimum bid was about $850 then. From the service to the room itself, it was excellent and would gladly do it again.

Does anyone have any info regarding the South Beach Cabanas? I rented one for our stop at CocoCay next year but see very little discussed about these type and don't see many showing those as an option to rent.
They don't actually become available until Dec. 2019.

How does OBC become refundable?

Thanks you both

Has anyone purchased one? What is the good, the bad and the ugly? Is it beach front, no other chairs in front of you?

It is not the problem of the guests to worry about the payscale of the multi billion dollar company that RCI is! 👍
Do you tip at restaurants, bars or hotels? It's a common practice.

I wonder if everyone knows the tips cover a variety of people and remove removing them becuase 1 person got you upset impacts a lot more people?

No they won’t. The daughter is over 18 (in her 20’s).
They did it for me, worth a try. We were in the same room, not sure if that matters.

happy easter everyone!
I know there have been old posts on this topic, can't find any recent ones. If I am travelling alone with my daughter (in her twenties) and I am diamond and she is not quite there yet, will they let her in lounge? what about celebrity?
thanks!
Go to the loyalty desk and tell him she's your daughter. He will change her status to match yours....she's diamond now.

I have never removed gratuities but I tip cash directly to the staff member that went above and beyond. Just returned from the anthem. The suite concierge didn't get an additional tip but my cabin steward and one bartender in the sweet longer got handsome additional tips, they went above and beyond.

So I saw this as we were getting back on - one security guy people eat their pastries, but the other lines were letting them right on. I really don't think there is a rule about bringing food from the US onto the boat - my daughter is a T1D and we brought candy and stuff all the time. I think the one security person was just wrong. Or hungry.
They are not supposed allow any food, that isn't prepackaged on the ship from any port. If they let anyone do it, they were wrong.

So they were the pay per view movies selection but were free? Was there a DVD player in your cabin?
They were on demand. It's on Royals channel, where you can check your account, order room service etc. It said order movies, and the cost was free. It was available 24 hours but they were free the entire time so that didn't really matter. No DVD player.
$18 drink pkg follow up
in Royal Caribbean International

Why would anyone do that? The refreshment package is more expensive than the $18/day alcohol package? Even if you don't drink any alcohol it's still cheaper.
