  1. The passes are only available at the Pharmasave or 7-Eleven at the airport. You can't get them on the station platform - the machines there are only set up to sell individual tickets.

Thanks Ell! Is it easy to get to the domestic terminal from the international terminal? Or is there a Pharmasave or 7 -Eleven in the domestic terminal?

    Thank you!!

  2. PoohX2, if you are going to purchase any quantity of chocolate likely the best spot would be London Drugs at the corner of Georgia Granville or Shoppers Drugmart at 586 Granville.

Thank you Putterdude for the information. I also want to thank you for all the advice and information you give to everyone on the boards. It is greatly appreciated.

  3. They will be happier with straight cash.

I agree with you. I always tip above the recommended and when I add chocolate it is like a dollars worth and they always appreciate it. I have sailed on the Disney Cruiseline several times and if you drop something off at guest services such as a pillowcase, picture frame etc. they will get it signed by the "characters". When I do this, I have enclosed cash as a thank you. Last time I did this I was told that they appreciate the cash but it has to be shared with many people, they recommended a couple of bags of chocolate. I don't want to have to carry them from home. That is why I ask about the stores.

I have read this whole thread and I want to thank you and all the vancouverites for all the help and advice you have given me and everyone. It is so valuable to be able to get information from people who know and I know that you have made my trip planning easier.

  4. I am about 99% certain that the Pan Pacific bellman do not share their tips with the dockside porters. If you really feel bad you could give one of them a tip as you go thru the Canada Place terminal, however these porters are members of the ILWU and already earn a very high wage...so the loss of a few dollars by way of a tip is not a huge issue.

    Hi,

Thank you so much for your reply.

  5. Hi,

We are staying at the Pan Pacific and we have been told that you call for bellhops and they bring your luggage to the port. Here are my questions, obviously you tip the bellhop then they bring the luggage to the port and give it to the porters but do they tip the porters with money from their tips? Do I give them extra and ask them to give the porters the money? (I know, I am stupidly trusting) I just feel bad that the porters are going to get the bags but no tips. I know I could bring the bags myself too but others in my party want to do this. Thanks again.

  6. Hi,

I have read all the posts but that was about 4 months ago, so I am so sorry if my questions are going to be redundant ( I should know better to try to rely on my memory)

We will be flying into Vancouver Airport and staying at the Pan Pacific before our cruise. We will be 18 people with one being in a wheelchair. We would like to go to Stanley Park, Capilano Bridge, Gastown, ChinaTown, plus some mall nearby that my sister says is huge. We would also need to get from Canada Place to the airport. We would like to do all this using mass transit. The wheelchair is collapsible and my mom is able to walk up the couple of steps on and off the bus. We will be there for 2 days. Should we buy daypasses? Will that be good enough to get to all these places or will we be crossing zones? Also where in the airport could we buy the day passes? Also someone said that there are luggage carts that you can use in the airport and Canada Place for free and you can take them to the train station, that just doesn't seem likely. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

  7. Will the seniors have any trouble with these? I would like to know how much there will be to do if walking is a problem since I, too, have trouble with distances.

    Hi Linda,

I contacted Capilano Bridge and below is the email they sent me about what people with mobility issues could do.

Yes unfortunately the bridge and the west side of the park are not assessible for guests with mobility issues. Due to the bridge being suspended, causing the bridge to sway a little, walking aids are also not permitted on the bridge. For this reason we do offer complimentary admission for guests in wheelchairs and/or requiring walking aids. On the east side of the park (where the entrance is located), all of the paths are paved. We offer history tours on this side of the park, on the hour, every hour preformed by our knowledgeable team members! We have pretty gardens, our story centre, our totem poles, our Kia'palano replica big house with First Nation Artists, the Trading Post gift store, Loggers Grill and Canyon Cafe. There are also some great lookout and photo advantage spots of the canyon, bridge and on clear days the spectacular mountains. Seating and benches are located throughout the park. During the month of August we also have daily entertainment in the form of live music which takes place just outside the Trading Post gift store, on the half hour, every hour beginning at 09:30am. Patio seating is also located at the Logger's Grill and Canyon Cafe.

So the seniors will have to decide if they are going to come to Capilano Bridge. I hope this helps.

  8. Hi,

I need some advice. We are going to be in Vancouver in August before we leave for our Alaska cruise. We are a group of 18 that include 3 children under 10 yrs. old and 6 seniors over 76 yrs. old. Several of the seniors have problems walking distances with one who needs a wheelchair (she can get in and out of it). We know that Alaska will be a busy cruise so we don't want to tire out the seniors getting to the transportation in Vancouver. We would like to to go to Capilano Bridge, Stanley Park and take the trolley around Vancouver. We currently have Pan Pacific booked. I have found out that we could get the Coal Coast Harbour for about $80 less a night. How are both of these hotels in relation to bus or train stations? I am looking for the one that is closest/easiest to transportation. We are staying for 2 nights so that makes a $160 price difference but if we have to hop into a cab just to get to the public transportation it may not be such a big difference. I hope I am explaining myself clearly.

Also how are the restaurants around each hotel? They have to be family friendly but I am not talking about an Applebees or Fridays.

If you read all this , thanks so much. I really appreciate any advice.

  9. Hi,

I have another question, surprise right? How is the public transportation near the Coast Coal Hotel? Some of us would like to do Grouse Mpuntain and the Cap (I forget how to spell it) Bridge. Also any suggestions on what we can do with my Mom, who is in a wheelchair and 5 other senior citizens who don't walk very well. Thanks for any info.

  10. Hi,

I have some questions.....Does anyone know what a taxi from Vancouver airport to Coast Coal Harbour Hotel costs? Is the Coal Coast a good hotel in a good area? Then how much from Coast Coal Harbour Hotel to Cananda Place? Also what would it cost from Canada Pier to Vancouver airport? We are 18 people with a wheelchair and stroller. Should we do individual taxis or mini vans? Thanks so much for any information you can give me!

  11. There are a number of hotels close to the airport. Fairmont have a hotel which is part of the the airport, Delta would be the next closest, there is a Hilton not far away, however you would need to check with the hotel to see if they operate a 24 hour shuttle.

    Hi,

Thank you for the information. We have actually decided against the overnight flights. We think it may be too much for the older people in our group.
