Same. We will be going in November for the first time. One idea I have saved is Tecolote Beach. Has restaurants and at least one beach club - but looks a bit nicer and less crowded than Medano beach in Cabo. I have posted on the Trip Advisor La Paz forum but no replies yet.

We will be in La Paz for the first time - it says we will arrive in port at 8am and leave at 5pm (not sure if that is ship time or local time). We have activities planned on other port days and really want to go freestyle for La Paz. Specifically, we are looking for a beach day and a nice lunch. BEACH - Any recommendations on a nice beach with good sand/water? Any recommendations on how to get there? LUNCH - Any recommendations for a place to have lunch that would be easily accessible? Maybe near the beach we might go to or on the way back, etc. Looking for standard non seafood Mexican fare but good quality and taste. Bonus if there is a nice atmosphere but mainly need to make sure the location is doable based on where we go to the beach, where the ship is docked, etc.

Thanks. Normally I'm okay with freestyling but I really want to handpick this tour since it is for whale watching and we want a certain type of experience. I think I need to contact the cruise line directly to find out about the local time vs. ship time. I have been reading up on it and it seems like it is variable - meaning the difference between ship vis local time can depend on the time of year, whether the ship is in port 1 or 2 days (we are) and maybe even Captain's choice. I really just need Carnival to tell me whether the excursion time is based on ship time or local time. If it is ship time, we will go with the external tour and save $100. If they can't tell us for sure, we will just book the cruise tour and be done with it. 🙂

This is confusing! We are going to stay away from the 11am off ship excursion. We are now trying to decide between a local whale watching excursion at 12:30 vs. the 11:45am ship excursion. The ship one is $100 more which we would pay if it meant getting done with the tour earlier in the day so we have time for other stuff. However, if the 11:45am ship excursion is really 12:45 local time, then we could save $100 and leave 15 minutes earlier than the ship. Tours will be between 2 to 2 1/2 hours, so, not a real difference there. Also, the local tour leaves right near the cruise port. Thanks for any advice!

We are going on a 5 day cruise starting March 28 and will have 2 days in Cabo San Lucas. On 3/30, we are trying to plan a whale watch tour and the pricing is way better if we book local. The tour company has an 11am tour but we are unsure if we will be able to make it. The cruise itinerary shows that we arrive at port at 10am. However, maybe when we arrive at port it is 10am ship time but 11am local time? I don't know why this is so confusing. Ha. I guess we could book their 2pm tour instead but I really prefer the 11am if we can make it so we could hang at the beach after.

A bit confused on which zipline tour to choose for Cabo... On our Carnival Cruise there is a 6 hour zipline tour to Boca de la Sierra Natural Reserve named SUPERMAN AND CAYNON ZIPLINE WITH LUNCH. On the other hand, Cabo Adventures has a 3.5 OUTDOOR ZIPLINE AND UTV ADVENTURE COMBO tour including zipline and UTVs also to Boca de la Sierra Natural Reserve. I know it is a long shot but has anyone done both tours and know what the difference is? Seems like the CV tour is shorter but includes 2 activities vs. the Cruise excursion is longer with 1 activity. CV is of course less expensive but if the excursion is a better tour, I'd pay for it. Not sure if this is the right board for this question.

Silly question but... I was going to buy these magnetic hooks for the room to hang lanyards or whatever. I was also going to but a few magnets for the cabin door (to put on the outside). I have read that some ships do not have magnetic surfaces and some do. What is the word for Panorama?
