  1. We are sailing into new york 1st October and staying in manhatton for a couple of days. Advice how to get from port to hotel please . Do royal caribbean do trasfred as it seems quite a way and I can only see airport transfers listed thanks

Without more information, no one on this Board can help you. RC disembarks in Bayonne, New Jersey and not in any New York ports. If you are coming into Bayonne, there are no direct transfers offered to hotels in Manhattan.

  2. OK, so having got over the disappointment of having the Oasis 10th Sept sailing delayed and the issues of flying in to Orlando we have decided to take the option of the 100% Future Certificate. However all I want to do is re-book for the 24th Sept sailing and apply this certificate.

    Couldnt be simpler right??? WRONG!!

For some unknown reason RC are unable to cancel the reservation as their system isnt showing the option of cancelling (even though their updates say you can) Without being able to cancel first I cant rebook with the certificate. My worry is that by the time RC sort themselves out there will either be no availability or prices will have risen to higher rate.

Based on their update I have managed to reschedule my flights around this so need to get this sorted out. Any advice on how to progress this as their CS dept are saying they cant help because their computer cant do it.

    How crazy is that eh??

Ask to speak to a Resolutions Supervisor. I can tell you that when the Anthem of the Seas inaugural bookings were first released, the pricing for the solo balconies was wrong (more than 2x the price of a D1). The supervisor agreed that there had to be an IT mistake and pulled the cabin I wanted from inventory. If I remember correctly, it took almost a week to fix the pricing, but when they did, I received a call from a C&A rep. and was able to finally book that cabin. Now true, this is not the situation that you are in, however it does verify that the Resolutions Supervisors can pull cabins from inventory. In the event a cabin hold can't be done or will not last until your sailing is "officially" cancelled in the system, a Resolutions Supervisor may be able to help. Good luck!

  3. Thank you for the heads-up. We are booked on this sailing and have not yet heard from our TA or Royal. We were looking forward to B2B transatlantic crossings: FLL to Copenhagen, then Barcelona to Miami. So very disappointed!

I feel so sorry for those affected by this. I am starting out in NY and flying to Seattle to do the B2B Sept. 29, 2017 Pacific Northwest and Oct 6, 2017 Transpacific on Explorer and then flying to Barcelona from there to do the B2B Nov. 5 Rhapsody Transatlantic followed by a 7 night western caribbean- if I had to cancel my plans for one or the other ocean sailings, it would be a logistical nightmare and from what I have heard of the comps being offered, they would no where near cover prepaid hotels, tours, and new flights. For me, this is a once-in- a- lifetime trip and aside from the financial loss, I would be so disappointed. I hope all affected can rework their plans so they don't feel as I would under the circumstances.

  4. I know that some of the people on the roll call for this sailing have been notified already, but this is for those who may not visit it---

This was sent to a travel agent last night -we have to cancel your clients’ May 7 – 20, 2018 sailing onboard Mariner of the Seas to allow for her upcoming modernization. While planning, it became apparent that logistics will require us to arrive at the shipyard sooner than previously thought. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

  5. Confirming, no bottles of water for sale in our MJ stateroom this week.

Glad to hear it. I once spent an entire 8 night cruise having the charges removed from my bill for my Crown and Anchor water amenity. The charges would be removed by the end of the day, and the next day they would reappear with yet another bottle added to the original mischarge. Finally, right before disembarking, I went to Guest Services, had them adjust, print my bill and required that the supervisor sign it with a statement that it was my final bill. It wasn't a lot of money, but rather the principle of being repeatedly charged. Even using the priority line at Guest Services, I still wasted my vacation time trying to repeatedly fix something that should never have occured in the first place.

  6. That is the case on every ship in the fleet and has been as long as I can remember! There is usually at least one food venue that will be open until 1:00 am or so. If you need something after 1:00 am then room service is available (for a service fee).

    Agree

On the Quantum inaugural out of Bayonne, the Windjammer was advertised as being open 24 hrs. I visited it after midnight a few times and apart from the access to coffee and the fountain drinks, the only other food was a few very dried-out-looking trays of pizza and one hot dish that contained meat (which I don't eat) so I didn't pay much attention to what "dish" it was. I can't remember if that was the case as well on the Anthem inaugural out of Bayonne. I never saw anyone else in there which is probably why it was stopped.

  7. Other websites besides RC are also showing TBA balcony cabin assignments for your particular sailing. It may be that RC is holding off on allowing the booking of a 3 person cabin for 2 in light of the Allure 1/21/18 sailing cancellation. I would say that if and that is only IF there are cabins available they will likely not be put into the system until after August 30th as that is the date, (I believe) that people have to reschedule their Allure sailing. Most will opt, if possible to reschedule during the window for the most compensation and price protection, but some may not and RC has a responsibility to accommodate those people.

  8. So, I took the plunge and bought a Galaxy s8+ yesterday and spent a bit of this morning reading about it. Having read some of the horror stories about outrageous cell phone bills while overseas, and coming from the generation of the black rotary phone that only rang when someone died, I am going to spend as much time as I can learning about how to use this thing correctly. Thanks to all, again, for their advice.

  9. Question for anyone who has recently done a TA or TP before - I am thinking of upgrading my Samsung Galaxy S4 that doesn't have wifi calling to the new Galaxy S8 which does. I am a Verizon customer and want to know if I purchase the surf and stream internet package from RC whether I will be able to use that internet connection to make wifi calls to the States for no additional cost while on the ship. If I can't do that, then I will keep my current phone as at home, I only use it for emergencies. I will be on both the Explorer and the Rhapsody if that matters.

  10. Several of the cruises for February of 2018 around Valentines Day have become charters. Serenade, being one of them - I was booked a b4b and had to change my plans as the charter was my third sailing in that situation. They offered price protection and 200 OBC - and a choice of 3 other sailings, one of which I was already booked on and the other two would have required me flying home and back and another hotel stay. I wound up cancelling my third and fourth sailing, taking a hotel for the night in Lauderdale and then booking a b2b on a different ship out of Lauderdale for the current pricing (no price protection offered as the bookings I made were not part of the offering) - and for 14 nights as opposed to the 21 nights had I been able to remain on the Serenade. As it was too early to have booked flights - no airfare compensation was offered. Unfortunately, with it being spring break and Valentines week - my hotel cost is almost double what I usually pay. It took about three weeks working with redeployment to straighten it all out.

  11. Between my Pacific Coastal &TP on Explorer and my TA and Western Caribbean on Rhapsody, I will be away from home for two months during which the final payments for 4 of my upcoming cruises are due. I called C&A D+ desk and got two different answers from two different people, one a definite yes - pay at next cruise desk; the other a "maybe" - their suggestion is to pay for all four of my upcoming cruises prior to leaving. That's a lot of money to shell out along with my property taxes during the month of Sept

Has anyone ever made a final payment onboard? If so, how?

Bob, I would appreciate your input.

    Sophie.

  12. Considering how much those blocks weigh, probably better off not getting them while on board and just call after cruise to have it mailed out. BTW mine arrived within 2 weeks of calling in.

I tend to overpack, and llike another poster, I find them dustables rather than collectibles so I always give mine away. I find someone celebrating a special event, first cruise, anniversary, marriage, etc. They are always very happy to receive it!

  13. Important lesson to the rest of us, if you are a C&A member go to your profile and set the preference to NO Upgrades. If not C&A then call you TA or RCI directly and ask for this.

This is no different than flying, book an isle seat and then get "an upgrade" to a middle seat in a preferred location. Again if you don't want it to happen you have to set your profile, at least for that flight to NO upgrade.

It pay to either know what your doing or do the research before hand.

My room was "upgraded" once during a 4 consecutive cruise sailing that I was doing despite having my C&A preference state NO upgrade. It took half a day to straighten it out with guest services!

  14. i wish their site worked today. i dont believe it for a minute but at the screen before the final price. it shows at top of my screen a 300 savings cause says includes tax etc. i know its wrong but still would be nice. but site continually crashes. sigh.

but maybe i should call and say i want to rebook with 2 nites free

If you originally booked at the 30% off sale, the 3, 6, 9, 12 night cruises will produce a savings (33% versus 30%) only if the base price of the cabin has not gone up. On other sailings the current promotion will not result in a savings unless the base cabin price has dropped.

  15. The base price means nothing when comparing prices, you need the final figure to see any savings

Actually, it does, if you have other reductions. For example: In my case, I get a reduced solo supplement and a C&A balcony discount - RC calculates it as follows:

Base price of the cabin (without any promotional price)

minus C&A balcony (usually prorated based on the promotion or if you are receiving a reduced solo supplement)

minus reduced solo supplement for more than 340 loyalty points

    minus any promotional offer

The promotional offer is applied only after other discounts are given and will vary in amount based on the preceeding reductions and the order in which they are applied.
