  1. All true what timtrek says about the Vista Suite.

If the ship has Window Suites, they boast all of the above - just minus the balcony. PLUS the closet space and storage is greater than in a Vista Suite, and the price is about that of a mini-suite.

We found this an amazing value proposition on the Caribbean Princess, having splurged on a Vista Suite previously but wanting to economize (relatively, LOL) to be able to cruise more.

    Suite Perks rock!

  2. Wondering if formal attire is required in Crown Grill on formal nights? Trying to avoid all that extra clothing.....but one thread said they are starting to require it on formal nights as well. That would be very disappointing!

I saw that thread, and even the poster said that it was something they saw once, "last fall," and no one has confirmed seeing a similar incident. Princess currently still asks passengers to observe the dress code "in Anytime and Traditional dining rooms."

  3. I don't even know what a "push notification" is. Yeah, I know! DOH!!!

Can one of you savvy folks explain that term in simple enough language that a non-savvy person can understand?

This may help, pictures! (from an iPhone, don't have a Droid to play with)

Go to Settings. Find the "Notifications" setting.

Choose Messenger (in the Ms, not the Ps :)

    Turn 'em all ON (green).

This allows you to be notified in real time when Princess "pushes" new info to you. Push is an active notification. The other kind, non-Push, is simply info that is passively waiting for you to go looking for it.

  4. I was considering that, but I think it will look odd to hand to the bartender my juice to make my cocktail.

Well... We handed the International Cafe barista a cup with my wife's sugar free coffee-flavoring. They made frozen coffee drinks that she could enjoy!

Twice a day, for two weeks. We packed five or six different flavors.

OK to bring such flavorings/ingredients on board in unopened sealed bottles.

  5. The ship's photographer is only there for a few minutes to take a couple of pictures as one is included with the dinner.

The waiters come and go to serve each course. They do not stand there watching you eat.

And that photographer was probably dressed that morning as a Pirate or maybe a Mayan in tasteful loincloth for the gangway photo ops.

They will have suggestions about how to best pose the couple for the shot. And if asked, will tell the OP how many dozens of couples have had their UBD in their PJs on the Love Boat.

A sense of playfulness is a plus for a relationship (arguably a necessity) and if I hear of such shenanigans I'd be compelled to donate a Coffee Card or a Princess Cookbook to such a cute couple's cruise fund.

  6. Club Fusion shuts down too early at night to be an issue for very long. (The action moves to Skywalker's.)

Those minis at the back, E730 and 731, are the best minis with extra-sized balconies.

I loved that area on Emerald on three cruises (Crown and Caribbean) for the relative quiet, as well as convenience to the stairs/elevators to get to Promenade and everywhere else.

    Noooo smells.

  7. When in an Aft suite, during sailing we felt much less motion than in a mid-forward cabin (Window Suite). "Back there" the propellors kind of pin the aft down steady in the water and the fore part will be up and down and up and down bouncing off the swells.

Docking and pulling out sideways of course, at the aft end you feel the Thrusters but that's short-lived.

Advantage: Aft. Bonus points for a Suite.

  8. With that age range of kids I would recommend Little French Key, no question. They will bring you back with time to do the zip-line right by the port if you want. I think they offer a package with a zip-line as well.

    There are definitely monkeys.
