Thanks Cruisemom, couldn't remember the name of it. We used it last year and found it to be super easy. The vaporetta was a zoo.

There is a special line of the vaporetta that goes to the cruise terminal. It allows for all of your luggage. It was not expensive at all and not nearly as crowded as the regular water busses. Once you get to the cruise area, there are very clearly marked signs everywhere. Also, it will be easy to visually spot your ship. Make sure you are all the way aft to sail away. We had an aft facing cabin and it was worth every penny. Sail away from Venice is breathtaking!!

Thanks so much for all of your posts. We have 339. Last time we sailed on Hal we had a huge corner suite, but this is a last minute trip for us that we squeezed into our schedule, so we would be happy with most anything. Hope we get a door that functions properly, because we love to walk. Happy cruising everyone :)

Booked a guarantee and today found out we were given a lanai cabin on lower promenade deck. Has anyone has one of these and how did you like it?
-
We are still waiting for our cabin assignment and we sail Tuesday. I suppose it doesn't really matter what we get. I just don't want to hang my formal gowns over the chairs on the pool deck...

We sail on the 22nd of April and no assignment yet. I suppose this is part of the adventure. I usually book a guarantee and this is the longest I have waited to be assigned a cabin....

My husband needs to make an important phone call the day we are on the private island. We have Verizon as our service provider. Has anyone does this before? Any idea of the fees involved? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Cabin assignments usually happen less than 14 days prior to sailing.
I had an unusual thing just happen. We booked an Inside Guarantee on a South Pacific cruise departing this Tuesday. We received our Cabin assignment 10 days ago. Today we just got another notice that we received another Cabin upgrade three days prior to sailing.
Has anyone experienced this ?
That's awesome! Congrats

We booked an outside guarantee on the Maasdam for the April 22 sailing. Can't wait to see what we get. When did you get your cabin assignments?
-
Thank you so so much for your updates. We leave on the Maasdam on 4-22. Can't wait. Do they still offer cappuccino after dinner, or do they charge for that now? We took a break from Holland and are back to give it another go. We have sailed with them quite a bit, but not in the last 3 years.

The ship excursions may be great options, nit sure where they go. Any details available? Do you have your own snorkel gear?
Patouche, Kuralu, White Squall and Aristocat are all great catamaran snorkel sails, all are out of the RT area except Kuralu which is out of the West End.
For off the beach snorkeling you can just taxi to Brewers Bay for $12 - 16pp roundtrip, or to Smuggler's Cove for a little more.
I don't know where the ship's excursions go. We do have our own snorkel equipment.
Thanks very much for the info.

We would like to snorkel during our visit, since it will be our first time there. Our ship offers a catamaran or a speed boat. They are between 60 to 80 $$ per person. Are there other ways or charters you would suggest please? I would like to go to the baths, but I need to see Tortola first.

We were merged and all was lost. Our 14 day cruise from May hasn't shown up in our points and we decided to cruise in July, so we switched to Princess. Once NCL fixes their glitches, we'll book them again. Didn't have time for their 6-10 week response.

Holland just told me that you can book a table for the entire week with as you wish dining. Just meet up with the Maitre De the first day and arrange it.

My first cruise was an 11 day Caribbean on the Norwegian Sky. We had a porthole and could not believe how tiny the room was. However, we were hooked and have continued to prefer cruise vacations.
By the way, we went from a port hole on the first cruise to the Owner's Suite of Norway on the second cruise. Our first cabin was the size of the bathroom on the second cabin. I think I enjoyed the first one more. Maybe because it was my honeymoon:)

Alaska Dress End of June
in Holland America Line
Posted
Last year, it was in the 80's in June in Alaska. We went in July and it was still quite warm, 60's and 70's. Never needed more than a fleece jacket. I actually got a better tan last year on our Alaskan cruise, than we did on our Med cruise....strange...Don't forget to pack a good hat and sunglasses. The sun can be intense when it dances off of the water and glaciers...
