  1. Last year, it was in the 80's in June in Alaska. We went in July and it was still quite warm, 60's and 70's. Never needed more than a fleece jacket. I actually got a better tan last year on our Alaskan cruise, than we did on our Med cruise....strange...Don't forget to pack a good hat and sunglasses. The sun can be intense when it dances off of the water and glaciers...

  2. There is a special line of the vaporetta that goes to the cruise terminal. It allows for all of your luggage. It was not expensive at all and not nearly as crowded as the regular water busses. Once you get to the cruise area, there are very clearly marked signs everywhere. Also, it will be easy to visually spot your ship. Make sure you are all the way aft to sail away. We had an aft facing cabin and it was worth every penny. Sail away from Venice is breathtaking!!

  3. Thanks so much for all of your posts. We have 339. Last time we sailed on Hal we had a huge corner suite, but this is a last minute trip for us that we squeezed into our schedule, so we would be happy with most anything. Hope we get a door that functions properly, because we love to walk. Happy cruising everyone :)

  4. Cabin assignments usually happen less than 14 days prior to sailing.

I had an unusual thing just happen. We booked an Inside Guarantee on a South Pacific cruise departing this Tuesday. We received our Cabin assignment 10 days ago. Today we just got another notice that we received another Cabin upgrade three days prior to sailing.

    Has anyone experienced this ?

    That's awesome! Congrats

  5. The ship excursions may be great options, nit sure where they go. Any details available? Do you have your own snorkel gear?

Patouche, Kuralu, White Squall and Aristocat are all great catamaran snorkel sails, all are out of the RT area except Kuralu which is out of the West End.

For off the beach snorkeling you can just taxi to Brewers Bay for $12 - 16pp roundtrip, or to Smuggler's Cove for a little more.

I don't know where the ship's excursions go. We do have our own snorkel equipment.

Thanks very much for the info.

  6. We would like to snorkel during our visit, since it will be our first time there. Our ship offers a catamaran or a speed boat. They are between 60 to 80 $$ per person. Are there other ways or charters you would suggest please? I would like to go to the baths, but I need to see Tortola first.

  7. My first cruise was an 11 day Caribbean on the Norwegian Sky. We had a porthole and could not believe how tiny the room was. However, we were hooked and have continued to prefer cruise vacations.

By the way, we went from a port hole on the first cruise to the Owner's Suite of Norway on the second cruise. Our first cabin was the size of the bathroom on the second cabin. I think I enjoyed the first one more. Maybe because it was my honeymoon:)
