I am going to be sailing on the Horizon in a couple of weeks and this is the first time I will be traveling with someone in a power wheelchair. I was hoping to find out from someone what time assisted debarkation begins. It is usually written in the debarkation instruction sheet left in the cabin a day or two before debarkation.
Thank you so much!

Has anyone done dinner at the teppanyaki recently? I am trying to figure out if it is wheelchair friendly? Do they have any spaces lower for a wheelchair diner? It would not be feasible for the person to transfer to a hightop chair.

Keep checking daily. I need a fully accessible room for a wheelchair cruiser and they do pop up occasionally. Another hack that I've used is to figure out what cruise is 89 days out and see who didn't pay their balance which is due 90 days out.

My teenagers loved walking around Lincoln Road. Tons of shops & restaurants.

I just had my first denial on a casino rate. My cabin wasn't even free, just discounted. :(

I am trying to figure out what time to have a car service pick up from the port after disembarking. Has anyone sailed recently? I am Diamond but also in a wheelchair so I was trying to figure out priority timing.
Thank you -
I would highly recommend going to the dining room when you board the ship. It is usually open from 1-3pm so you can speak with the matrie'd and ask for a table/booth for 2. I would explain your reason and they will do their best to accommodate you. I usually have to change tables to accommodate a wheelchair. It may not happen on the first night but usually by the 2nd, we are good to go.

Have you tried the SeaBand bracelet? I have used them on my daughter for years and it has been a game changer. They sell them in the drug stores or Amazon.

They have lines outside according to your check-in appointment. When I went in June, they didn't enforce the times and I had the first available as a diamond passenger. Once you are inside, then they have a separate line for diamond & platinum. It was very disorganized and the outside port employees were very rude. Good Luck!

I just sailed on the Sunshine last week and Carnival does NOT have the airport shuttles to the port. I actually got a referral from the Embassy Suites van driver. We had 4 people with a ton of luggage and 1 person in a wheelchair. We used Peter Li with Nandu Cab (his company) 843-330-6021. He was on time and a very clean 8 passenger van & he also has a minivan for smaller parties. I HIGHLY recommend him. He was easy to communicate with by phone & text.

My daughter did this over the summer and they charged her for both trips at the beginning.

The family member can transfer to a seat and I can collapse the wheelchair to be stored in the trunk. I am looking for a vehicle that will hold 5 adults, luggage & wheelchair from a hotel near the airport to the port.
Thank you!

I am coming to Charleston in November with a wheelchair family member. Does anyone know of a shuttle company that is ADA or has minivans? I am staying near the airport and looking for drop-off & pick up.
Thank you so much for any recommendations.

I have been using Girlie Transportation. She was featured on Channel 5 earlier this year and has been wonderful. I would reach out to her to see if she has any availability. Her name is LaKeeMora Orphe and her email is girlietransportation@gmail.com

Was on the June 19th sailing. Once you get thru security, they do have a section for Diamond & Suites right by the door to go onboard. It was extremely disorganized from the beginning. They weren't checking appointment times and when I asked because I had a noon appointment, the lady told me "everyone sails at the same time" and "diamond doesn't mean crap to carnival out here". When I asked about what the point of the appointment time was she told me she didn't care and "no one is going to fire me". Very welcoming!

I just disembarked on Saturday (June 25th). I didn't see any taxis waiting in the pick up area. Plenty of people were waiting on ubers. I did see 2 Academy buses that honestly I thought was from Carnival. I did notice KD Elite Transportation had a couple of vans picking up people. I had arranged a private shuttle but I was going back to Montgomery County not the airport. Uber would be my recommendation especially since it is so difficult to plan your time.

Is there a casino onboard?

If you are being dropped off, will they let you into the area early? Trying to figure out what time to be picked up by the shuttle. Last time, I drove (June 2019) it was an absolute disaster. They made us leave the area because of delays and by the time I returned at the time they said, the line was an hour and half to get into the parking lot. So I am trying to avoid that drama.

We just stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn after disembarking the Vista last Saturday. What a wonderful surprise of a hotel!! It was very clean and spacious. We had 2 different rooms (1 handicap accessible & 1 with 2 Queen beds). The handicap accessible room had a roll-in shower, grab bars and a bench in the shower. Perfect for a family member in a wheelchair. They have a free shuttle to the airport running every half hour. There is a small restaurant & bar in the lobby serving hot food for breakfast & dinner for an additional fee.
I highly recommend this hotel.

I am looking for a restaurant recommendation within walking distance of Harbor House that is handicap friendly. We have a someone in our group in a wheelchair. Bonus if it was barbeque or seafood.
Thank you!

I used them back in August 2021 and have them scheduled again for March 2022. They were wonderful!!! On time, clean vehicles, great communication even when I switched the pick up time last minute. I would highly recommend them without any hesitation.

I have a 6pm flight after the cruise on Saturday. Any suggestions on what to do for the 5+ hours to kill before going to the airport? The biggest issue is the luggage.
Thank you!

Looking forward to your review. I’m sailing next month and still have doubts because of covid.

Has anyone used them before? I am hoping to rent a wheelchair for someone going on a back to back cruise. I didn't know if anyone had any issues/suggestions for me. I will be on the 2nd leg of the cruises so I am trying to cover any situation that may happen for them. I am hoping to be able to have it delivered to the cabin and picked up from the cabin at the end of the cruise.
Happy Thanksgiving!

I used them last year for our cruise and they were terrific! Clean vehicles, on-time and great communication. I would highly recommend them.
