  1. Can you tell me more about the horse back ride?,..we are avid trail riders and are considering this on our cruise in March. We have never been here and have not done a cave tubing experience either? We are in our early 50s, which excursion do you recommend the most... Thanks!

You'll be riding in a the Savanna area at one of the little Villages. Depending on how far you want to venture off into the Forest there are several trails for you to go on at the site. The one we went on took us a bit deep in the jungle near the river side and exited us onto a dirt road. We got to see several birds and butterflies as well as Iguanas, and a group of wild coati running across the trail while we were there. Pretty cool!

The Cave Tubing is unique and you cannot do it anywhere else,, you walk in the jungle for about 20 minutes until you arrive at the entrance of the caves. You're then strapped up to your group members and begin floating through the cave for about 40 minutes then the cave ends and you'll be river tubing from there.

Its all up to you, if you love the forest you'd enjoy both tours ! Maybe you can try two of them in one day and get the best of both worlds.

  2. With a group of that size you might want to look into booking with companies that are family friendly, those that can give you a group rate for a desired excursion that you may have in mind. There's cave tubing .com and bz and the one im more fond of way to go tours belize. they can give you good family rate discounts.

  3. I will be doing the Horse Back riding through Way To Go Tours Belize next week. Im cruising on the Carnival Glory , I have looked into doing it with either them or Bacab Eco Park. Bacab limits you to about an hour while the other Company lets you ride until its near time to return to Port.

A close friend of mine with a family of 4 booked with them last month. She said their son was an inexperienced rider but did quite fine and kept up with the rest of them throughout the day. I have little riding experience but that made me feel a bit more encouraged. Good Luck

  4. The Tour can be done in conjunction with either Altun Ha, The Belize Zoo or Horse Back riding. You would definitely need to arrange it privately as i don't believe the CruiseLine Would offer a combo tour of both. Here are some options, Ecological Tours Belize, Way To Go Tours Belize, Belize Fun Tours.

Those company I have used before and very reputable. Good Luck on your adventure.

  5. Last month while sailing on the Freedom my family of 5 decided to pass on the Cave Tubing and wanted to do something different. After browsing the web we found out about these guys and decided to do their Horse Back riding adventure.

We had a great time with them!. We passed through the countryside along the way where our guide informed us about the history and traditions of the Belizean people. The area was beautiful and the drive to the site was considerably short ( 35-40 minutes). Once we got to the site our horses were there waiting for us. They were well groomed and well kept, we were briefed shortly on how to control the Horses (not that we were amateur riders) before taking off into the Jungle where we got to saw many birds, different insects and animals including the Howler Monkeys!

After we were done trekking through the Jungle we were given time to explore areas on our own and race the Horses. A delicious Belizean style lunch was then served before we went back to the Port area.

We made reservations on their site http://www.waytogotoursbelize.com . I highly recommend trying it if you folks are up for some adventure!:D

  6. Has anyone used Way To Go Tours? We're thinking about booking them for a private tour to go see the Howler Monkeys and ziplining. Anyone have any feedback?

I've used them several times, the first was for Cave Tubing back in June and the other time we did Horse Back Riding in October. Both adventures were great, their vehicles are well kept, nice, clean and fully air conditioned. I recommend going with them, you won't be disappointed!

  7. Belize is a Beautiful Place, I'm thinking about finding a teaching job and living down there. It's unbelievable to think that you have Paradise at your disposal. The Beaches, The Islands, The Jungles, The Caves, Maya Ruins, Waterfalls, Nature Parks, Protected areas and all of that just a short drive away no matter where you live in the Country.

  8. blueasthesea,

Thanks for the information. Did you enjoy Goff's Caye? I've looked at pictures online and some look so beautiful and others look like so, so many people all around. Since this is my first time ever to Belize, would this be a good first time excursion(I do love swimming in the ocean and snorkling)?

I had tons of fun on the beach. Depending on your stay -if you decide to catch the last boat back to the Port area, the crowd will be gone by then and you'll have about an hour to 90 minutes of beach time with very little people, that's what we did. I recommend taking this excursion, you get to do both swimming and snorkeling and the water is crystal clear with lots of fishes. :)

  9. I've used Exotic Tours before and that price is unbeatable for their tour of Goff's Caye. Other companies have it for fifty us dollars. As per the tour of Belize city i'd say 30 is a bit too much , i've done it for as little as 20 dollars through other companies at the port.

  10. We've done the tour of the Zoo last year with a local tour guide, he was very friendly and sociable and made sure that we had a good time. After the Zoo he gave us a tour of the city and took us to eat at a local Belizean Restaurant called Birds Isle. He gave me his card with email address wtg_792@hotmail.com.

You are usually more flexible dealing with someone local because they are not tied to any large companies and have their own personal vehicle which allow them not to rush. Wish you luck!

  11. When speaking about a local and private tour company I usually book with mrbelizecavetubing.com . They offer more than just what their company name is. You can easily arrange something with them and am sure they will assist you :)

  12. I just visited Xunantunich last month, I must say it was an amazing adventure. It took about 2 hours to get there but there was much scenery along the way so I wasn't bored. I must say it is large in comparison to Altun Ha and has much higher structures. We booked through mrbelizeacavetubing.com. Either of the ruins you take Im sure you wont regret! :D

  13. Altun Ha is surely not a bad choice of excursion to do in Belize especially at this time of the year where the weather is relatively cool. It's the closest ruin to the port of Belize so you don't have to worry about time! I'd recommend checking out http://www.mrbelizecavetubing.com as they are a local touring company and can surely make any necessary to accommodate you to your destination !

  14. Wow, that's like 90 minutes driving to get there and 90 minutes to get back! Hmmm, I'd recommend catching the Plane via TropicAir or Maya orrr...get off tender really early and rent a vehicle :D
