  1. This will be our first river boat cruise, but we have taken ship cruises to the British Isles and Mediterranean with our dad. I have traveled with my family several times throughout Europe on our own.  I tend to like long days and warmer weather usually going early June, but we will likely only be able to go either mid august or sept into oct for this trip due to scheduling.  Most likely it would be Sept 27 to Oct 11.

  2. Now that you've answered my other questions (thank you!) And, since I over analyze every detail (ugh!) I'm considering what month to take our Budapest to Amsterdam river boat cruise.  My thoughts mostly are weather/crowds/length of days/daylight, and how all those things effect the overall trip.  I'd love to know your thoughts and experiences!  Thanks!

  3. So, my dad (95 years old) is sending my sister and I on a Viking River Cruise that he took years ago and loved- Budapest to Amsterdam.

I have heard a couple of negative things that I want to address before I book.

One person told me they were very disappointed because at each port they were a couple feet from a boat next to them.  They had no view except of another boat.

Someone else told me the water levels where so low it ended up to be a bus trip and not a river cruise at all.

Question: is there a month to cruise where these issues would be less likely to happen?

    Thank you!

  4. We are cruising to the Mediterranean in July with dear old 92 year old dad. He wanted a balcony and on the port side which will take in more port views. We now were upgraded to the Aft at the back of the ship- Princess Royal Baja 738. I'm trying to figure out if that will compromise our view of land as we come into port? Will we be missing anything or will that be a true upgrade for us?

    Thank you for any feedback!

  5. Thanks for the input! Ok, I think we won't worry about it and plan to go. If they cancel some ports then it's fine. I'm sure they are up on the latest and won't take us if any dangerous areas.

What did they put in as replacements for the Turkey stops?

I'm a bit worried about the heat of July/August, but those are the only dates we can go. We'll just make sure dad drinks a lot of water!

  6. My dear old dad, age 91, invited my sister and I on a mediterranean cruise next summer.

We will be going on the Royal Princess, Barcelona to Athens. We will have stops in Spain, Gibraltar, France, several in Italy, Malta, and then to Crete (Heraklion) Greece, Kusadasi Turkey, Istanbul, Turkey, Mykonos, Greece, and then ending in Athens.

My sisters neighbor (who cruises a lot) told her that is a poor choice for a cruise because of the political climate (dangerous in Turkey) and Greece stops are very limited due to refugee problems.

Is this true or false information?

I asked the cruise line and the person I talked with said they didn't know anything about it.

Should we find a different cruise?
