  1. This is a really hot looking ship. If it looked anything like that I would be pretty impressed. However, it just doesn't look like a Carnival ship to me... I mean look at them, they all look the same. To me it looks like a RCL or Norwegian ship more than Carnival. However, for Carnival's sake I hope they surprise me! Can't wait to sail the Vista.

  2. If you tell someone you cruised MSC, the standard reply is " never heard of them.

Which is extremely sad. They look like they have an awesome product and a great cruising itinerary.

Would I be wrong if I was to say that there main competition is Carnival and Royal? I think that they could easily take them on if they become more "fun and American." I look forward to trying them one day!

  3. I think they should have tried basing her over the summer at a North American port that is cheap and easy to reach for their European customer base. From New York, e.g. they could have done routes north to New England and Canada alternating with routes south along the coast and to Bermuda. This would have given them a base load of European passengers and they could have topped it up with Americans.

Aida has three ships in North America over the summer, that they apparently manage to fill with a product that exclusively appeals to German speaking passengers. Since MSC has a much broader appeal, I'm sure they could have easily filled the Divina.

Take what I say with a grain of salt but I don't think coming to New York would happen. For one, no cruise lines do New England/ Canada anymore until the later summer like August/September/October. I don't know why... just no one does it, unless you count Holland America on the Maasdam and Veendam. Also Bermuda has a space problem unfortunately. From what I understand there are only two main berthing areas that can handle massive ships at Kings Wharf. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the Breakaway and Summit are in, on Sunday Monday Tuesday the Dawn and either Explorer or Granduer are in. Leaving not that much room for the Divina unless she plans it accordingly to have a berthing space and do longer cruises to the Caribbean also like the Explorer does.

  4. Anyone know with the Legend gone, what ship will be in Tampa offering 7 day cruises?

Hi as of right now only the Carnival Pride will be doing 7 Nights from January to March of 2015. There aren’t much options when it comes to Tampa due to the bridge height and such. Basically it’s the Pride which is going back to Baltimore, the Legend which will be in Australia, Spirit which as been in Australia a while and then Miracle which is currently based on the West Coast.

  5. But most importantly are they moving it to Galveston as rumored. For those of us already booked for Jan thru Mar 2015 sure would like to know for flights and hotels

What the… why would they move it to Galveston? They have the Magic almost brand new and the Triumph just recently redone. No those ships don’t have 2.0 features but I don’t see them moving it there. Where has this rumor been said? I assume Freedom would replace Triumph so Triumph is going to Everglades? Actually… now that I think about it with the Dream going to NOLA and doing basically the same routes I could maybe see the Magic moving. I just don’t think the Magic would move to Everglades. Maybe the Liberty to Everglades and the Magic to Port Canaveral? Would be smart having two of the “newest" ships in Port Canaveral especially since Royal is suppose to announce a third and Norwegian coming back.

  6. on the Miracle~ They brought him back out of retirement and I can see why! He was the best we have had in atleast my last 5 or 6 cruises!!Really great!:D

Troy was great, he was funny and informed us well of various ports and conditions. I loved his little sign offs at the end of announcements. According to my mom he was also hot… so I guess for the ladies that can be why some enjoy him.

  7. I am taking my mother-in-law June 24, 2014. Wondering if there are wheelchairs in case she's too worn out to walk? Also, is it a long walk from the airport shuttle to board? Any other tips for us? Thanks!

Hi, we went in August and I’ll give my take. I am sure there are wheelchairs, you must go upstairs once in the port and there was an elevator to use if you guys don’t want to use the escalator. The airport is pretty big. Depending on your airline and terminal you can have a nice walk. We took Delta, had to hop on a tram which involved going downstairs, then to the baggage claim and then grab our luggage. After you grab the luggage there is a sign showing transportation. Make sure you drop off your luggage to the guys there. It is a little chaotic but works. You are then shown to the check-in area for the bus. WARNING: this area is pretty small and can take a while. We had to wait 2 buses outside, before finally boarding. Once at the port you are right there. Check-in was smooth, we had FTTF but they where letting everyone onboard. You enter near Yellow Brick road I am pretty sure. Just enjoy your cruise!

  8. If Epic does the Canary run in the winter, its going to be a very empty ship. There isn't the demand out of Barcelona......most of the passengers are from the UK.

Now if they homeported out of Southampton or Dover, they would have a chance of filling the ship.

Seems interesting but I don't think year round from England will happen. Europe does have cheap flight options and with some good advertising and work with holiday companies I am sure they can full the epic.

  9. Anyone can put anything on Wikipedia. I could go on there and write the the Fantasy will be doing all nude cruises to mars, and if you read it on the Internet, it must be true. I just hope it's a closed loop and falls under the WHTI.

You don’t think we know that? Not to be rude but the reason I posted it on a CRUISE forum is for others to post there input and share any possible information they have. Sorry for asking a question. :roll eyes:

In all seriousness I doubt it would be a cruise to go over, probably just send it off to a dry dock.

  10. We always decorated our doors and the majority of the time we received compliments on them. We even heard parents telling their kids to look for our door and then count so many doors down so they could find their cabin.

But on our last cruise I noticed that our door was one of two cabins on our deck that was decorated. So I think it is time to hang up my scissors and paste and just not decorate anymore.

Hey if it makes you happy then you should do it! On our Carnival Cruise to Alaska this pervious August we where the only ones that decorated our door. Everyone said they love it and even our room steward said it was an awesome idea.

  11. I just saw it last night and I can't find it anymore. It basically said that due to Costa losing two ships that they were going to put Splendor through a 3-4 month drydock in 2016 and rename the ship Costa Hermosa. After the refit it said that the ship would go to Asia.

I'm still looking to see if I can find it.

Makes sense… so many Carnival ships in the USA, I mean truly how many can Carnival support? Not only support but the ports also, I mean Nassau and Freeport can only hold so many ships.

http://cruiseforums.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=38496162- Thread you where talking about?

  12. Wikipedia also says that Splendor is going back to Costa in 2016. I take anything on Wikipedia with a grain of salt - anyone can add info.

Where does it say that? on the Carnival Splendor page it only says that the ship was made for Costa but transferred to Carnival.

Carnival Corp (Princess?) now has a homeport in Japan and a number of offices opened in China along with South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. Think they expect biz to double next year from the region.

Like I said, I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened just don’t think it will happen that soon. Carnival and Princess to me are like totally different cruise lines. Carnival is focused on low coast cruising and I don’t know if that will be big in Asia.

  13. I wouldn't be surprised to see Carnival send a ship to Asia. The market is exploding. Currently Europe is still soft.

Don’t think it will happen so soon. The Carnival type I just don’t think is right for Asia. However, I can be wrong. On our Alaskan cruise there was a nice proportion of Asians on the cruise.

I think for 2016 we can see the following:

    Ecstasy- Miami

    Sensation- Charleston? Canaveral?

    Fascination- Jacksonville

    Imagination- Long Beach

    Inspiration- Long Beach

    Elation- New Orleans

    Paradise- Tampa

    Sunshine- Port Canaveral

    Triumph- Galveston

    Victory- Miami

    Spirit- Australia

    Pride- Tampa

    Legend- Australia

    Miracle- Long Beach

    Conquest- Miami

    Glory- Miami

    Valor- San Juan

    Liberty- Port Canaveral

    Freedom- Everglades

    Splendor- Miami

    Dream- New Orleans

    Magic- Galveston

    Breeze- Miami

    Vista- Port Canaveral? New York?

  14. We shall see but given that they now will have two ships the better part of a year in Australia kind of surprised at this.

Only way I see this happening is if they move another ship back to Charleston. Possibly another Fantasy class ship and move things around. I don’t know, it’s been rumored before and she is one of Carnival’s oldest ships. Maybe we can see the Sensation leaving PC and have three big ships in PC or something like that. I honestly have no idea.

  15. I don’t know if this has been discussed and I apologize if it has, I did a quick search of the forums and didn’t see anything. I know Wikipedia isn’t reliable but I just saw that the Carnival Fantasy is going to be leaving the Carnival fleet and go join Ibero Cruises. Is this true? I doubt the Vista will take over out of Charleston. Is this the end of Charleston?

  16. Boston renovated their cruise terminal (if you can call it that) and they already were locked into a 10 year contract which was renewed by NCL. The new terminal is basically the same gutted out old building used back in yesteryear to take goods off of sailing ships. It still has the pulleys to do that on the building! Somehow this year we had Carnival cruises originating from here as well doing short stints to Halifax.

I can understand what you mean when there's a new facility built that sits empty. Cruise lines say they bring in a lot of revenue for the city's they are based out of. For hotels, that's quite possibly true and the city could recover the money in hotel taxes for the people who like to fly in the day before to make sure they get on the boat. However, those flying in same day spend little to no money in the embarkation city so there's no recovery for incentives - especially that large.

If Miami and Port Everglades were to withdraw the incentives to their respective cruise companies then where would all the ships leave from? The same places! None of the other ports in the area could handle all the capacity some of these ships hold. They're not designed for it mega ships (having two gangways for one ship). If NCL didn't put Escape in Miami I'm not sure where they would have put her. Port Canaveral could have handled her perhaps but getting to there is an issue because of the distance from the airport.

Apparently the Star is going to Port Canaveral so I don’t think you’ll see her there.
