  1. We are 4 friends in our late sixties who will be debarking from the American Queen River boat in New Orleans. We are booked into the Intercontinental Hotel and I would like to know whether we could walk from the cruise port to our hotel ?

We will each have one trolley suitcase.

What are our other options to get to this hotel ?

    Sincere thanks.

  2. We will be flying with Delta from Johannesburg to Miami via Atlanta. Will we have to collect our checked luggage on landing at Atlanta International before clearing passport control and check it in again for our flight with Delta to Miami ?

I heard from someone that the luggage would be taken from one flight to the other if it is the same airline, but I read on some website that we have to pass through passport control with ALL our luggage...??

We will have three and a half hours on Atlanta airport...I hope it will be enough for all we have to do...?

    Sincere Thanks !

  3. How do I post a question on Disboards.com....I have registered but I cannot seem to find the place to ask a question'''

PLEASE HELP ME : Are there any rides that one can reserve prior to arriving at the parks...or do we just do the Fastpass + once we are in the Park...??

    Excuse my ignorance....

    THANX.

  4. Thanx Surrocruiser... I guess I actually meant "dining package"...

My kids, that live in the USA now, made all the reservations and bought the "meals"...I suppose they will be able to tell me more....but they are so busy 'setting up house' that I don't want to bother them too much...

We will catch up with them at WDW in June for a weeklong stay in Orlando...

    Looking forward so much...

    Sincerely.

    Jasjas.

  5. Dear Linda....Thank you SO much for all the valuable info...I will surely follow up on everything !!

Nastasja, my granddaughter is a Disney fanatic and I am so excited to see all her reactions at WDW...we have never been to anything like a Disney park as we live in South Africa which is more than 15 hours by air from Orlando.... But she lives for her Disney Movies...

    Sincere thanks...

  6. Could anyone please tell me more about Character Breakfasts...? I will be visiting WDW with my granddaughter in June of this year, staying at the Disney Boardwalk Inn...

She will have her 10th birthday while we are there. I read about Character Breakfasts and wondered what it is all about...It would just make her day to have breakfast with Elsa from FROZEN...??

    Please tell me more...

    Thanks

    Jasjas.

  7. We will be spending a week in Walt Disney World after our Caribbean Cruise in June of this year. We are a group of 12 people spanning 3 generations ranging in age from 10 years to 68 years.... I was chosen to to be the Entertainment Manager...!!!

As the oldest in the group, I have to do the research and come up with suggestions for a program of important things 'not to miss' during the day and dinner shows for the evenings...

The 10 year old will also celebrate her birthday during that week.

We will be staying at the Disney Boardwalk Inn.

    PLEASE HELP ME !

On my list I have requests for :

    Medieval Times Dinner Show

    Hoop Dee Doo Dinner Show

Discovery Cove - Swim with the Dolphins.

Celebrate The Magic Fireworks @ Cinderella Castle

Hardly enough to keep us busy for 6 days...

The "Things to do in Disney World" website is a maze in which I got completely lost...

    Sincere thanks.

  8. Thanks to everyone for participating in this discussion...

We returned from our Alaska Cruise 2 weeks ago and this was our experience :

My friend and I , 2 ladies in our mid-sixties, were on Norwegian Sun from Seward to Vancouver for 7 nights and both of us took 2 pairs of jeans and a pair of black trousers.

We wore the black trousers to all the evening meals in the MDRs with nice blouses and maybe a scarf and a light jacket.

We found most ladies similarly dressed, maybe alternating with a skirt...

We never saw anyone really formally dressed.

What a wonderfully relaxed time we had !!

  9. Dear Mapleleaves,

I have travelled quite extensively ...but never in that part of the world and wanted it to be perfect, as I took the organising part of the complete holiday on my shoulders,,,I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it without a Travel agent...

I will really do my best to post a review asap...

Thanks again for all your advise...

    Thanks again for everybody;\'s input...

We had a GREAT vacation of 3 days in NYC, 2 days in Anchorage, 2 days in Seward, our 7 day Cruise to Vancouver and 3 glorious days in Vancouver before returning via San Francisco and New York to our home in Pretoria, South Africa.... !!

An UNFORGETTABLE 3 weeks.... Our first in USA and Canada.
