I know no one can read Disney's corporate mind, but I was wondering if anyone had heard some reliable (or not reliable) rumors about when Disney would release 2018 cruise schedules, particularly for cruises out of NYC. My family is trying to plan a group vacation for next September, but the only Magic cruise at currently on the books is a New England trip. Not exactly the warm vacation everyone is hoping for.
Also I booked a cruise for late spring 2019 on NCL about 4 months ago. It feels like Disney is really leaving it to the pay minute. If anyone has heard rumors, please post. Particularly if you have heard rumors of Disney pulling out of New York.
Perhaps we'll end up with a land trip to DW instead. That would be fun too.

Our favorite 2 bedroom haven suite (H4) is 16120. Open your door and straight across is the door to the Haven Lounge. Your college sons will love it. We were on Deck 15 last time and it was okay but much better to be on the same deck with the haven lounge, restaurant and pool area. :)
This is the cabin I have booked for my next NCL cruise. I'm so glad someone else liked it.

Paint the bottoms of her feet with latex. You need many layers to built up one inch. Make sure the latex is tinted to her skin tone.
Tell the slide attendants they are calluses from long distance barefoot running.

The easiest way to think about it is to know that Haven is a cabin class. Everyone who is booked into a haven suite (up to 6 people depending on the suite) has access to the Haven, all Haven amenities, the services of the butler and concierge, etc.
FREE AT SEA is a promotion NCL has been running on various forms for... well, years at this point. Only the first two people in each cabin get the Free At Sea package - Gratuities, UBP/UDP (for those over 21), and SDP. The exceptions to this rule are the Internet minutes, where you can share your password with anyone you like, but only one device can connect at a time, shore ex credits, which are per cabin, per port, and 3rd/4th sail free, which obviously only applies to the third and fourth passengers in each cabin.
The Free At Sea promotion applies to cabins that are not Haven as well as Haven cabins.
If you are not in a Haven suite, you do not get Haven benefits.
If everyone in your cabin are heavy drinkers, you could purchase a UBP for your sister so you are all on the same "package" as it were.
If one, or all of you isn't a big drinker, you could shuffle the order of passengers in the room so the biggest drinkers get the UBP and the last person uses their card to buy drinks as they go along. Depending on how much people drink this could save you a lot of money.
I'm cruising with my mom next year and even though my husband and I are receiving the UBP, we're not getting one for my mom. My husband and I drink rarely (we're actually working on a dry year, which has been a fun experiment) and my mom really only drinks at special occasions. Buying the third UBP for her would be a waste of money, so we'll get her drinks as we go along and be grateful we're in a suite and not paying gratuities on the "free" UBPs we're probably going to barely use.

I found the shore ex credit was not showing in my NCL account for my AK cruise last summer. I called and my pcc confirmed it was still on my account. I received the credit when I booked excursions via the phone number BirdTravels posted.

My first cruise was on the Sky. We were invited to the Captain's cocktail party and were escorted up by the concierge. When we arrived, the concierge told the Captain it was my birthday (actually the date I was born) and right in front of everybody, the Captain sang happy birthday to me.
It was rather special.

Yes the carnival sunshine and the breakaway are both leaving out of NY a day apart. I'm new to cruising so I have no idea which is even carnival vs ncl.
If you want to learn more about each ship, I recommend checking out the Carnival boards here as well.
I personally have disliked some of the business decisions made by Carnival's parent company, so I vote with my wallet and won't spend money on any cruise from their lines.
That said, Carnival Corp is the largest cruise corporation in the world, so I'm clearly not in the majority.
Research your ships, pick the one that looks the most fun to you, and have a great cruise!

I think Carnival Sunshine is sailing from NY in the fall.
That's certainly makes more sense than trying to decide between the BA and the Sun which are on different coasts.

Do you mean the Norwegian Sun, or is the Sunshine a ship on another line?

The Breakaway has never been updated in dry dock, so except for menus and the like, nothing will be out-of-date, yet.

Keep in mind also, that even with sail free, the booking page still shows the cost per person as the same for all four people. If you look at cruise summary (usually top left on the page) you'll see a breakdown of the actual costs by person.

I've shipped live Maine lobsters as far west as the PA/OH boarder with no ill effects to flavor or texture.
There are several places on the New England coast that will over-night lobsters around the country. Not gonna work for the volume needed on a cruise ship, obviously, but if you just want the lobstah hit for your family, it's available.

We book suites and Haven because we have limited vacation time. If you can't go one more than one cruise a year anyway, you might as well splurge on the good stuff.

I've cruised on the Breakaway and the Sun and Sky. I can't really compare them though, because the BA was the only non-suite cruise and mostly taught us we preferred the suite life.

I'm weighing my options for upgrading to a Haven Suite and need some help.
- Is there a charge for meals served in the cabin?
- What exactly do you get with the "Access to the Haven Garden Courtyard"?
- What exactly do you get with priority access to Mandara Spa and complimentary access to the Thermal Spa Suites?
- We have the ultimate beverage package. What extra things would we need to pay for being in a Haven?
Thanx all for your help to this neophyte!!
Room service doesn't have a delivery charge to suites. You can order from any restaurant although if you order an entree from specialty or a la cart restaurant, you'll be charged for that.
The haven courtyard is the private area of the ship for haven guests only. It has a bar, restaurant, hot tubs, loungers, sun deck and small pool.
Skipping spa question cause I've never used one.
The dsc is higher on suites, so keep that in mind. And you butler and concierge are not included in the dsc, so you'll want to tip them separately.

I've been wondering if it's harder to get booze on in your luggage? (Not looking for anyone to come down on me)...I purchase an Ultimate Bev Package, Tip well, but like having something in our cabin.
If I can purchase a bottle of something that doesn't cost crazy $$ I'm ok doing that. :)
Last summer on the Sun (before the soda/water carry on prohibition) I brought several cans of Canadian coke before boarding. The bartenders at the atrium bar would give me large cups of Malibu (don't judge me [emoji4] ) to take back to my room, so we could sip coconut and cokes on our balcony. All covered by the ubp.

From my experience on these boards, the 2 bedroom suites tend to be used by 2 generation family units, or those with kids as the 3rd generation, so questions about sleeping 3 generations of adults (or in my case, 3rd generation being a baby) don't get a lot of responses.
My suggestion is to call NCL or your TA and as this question. The sooner you ask, the more time to have to make plans in case the answer is no.

Do the thermal spas smell like chlorine? Or rather smell of the byproduct of chlorine reacting with dirty bodies?
It's a migraine trigger for me, and it'd be a shame to spend the money on a pass I can't use.

I like the simplicity of the PAI package. I am excited for it to be offered in the states.

I've seen cirque dreams in our local theater on land. It was a fun show. I felt it was more aimed at kids than cirque du soleil. I didn't realize at the time they were different production houses, but it makes lots of sense.
I love the big sets of CdS. But the acrobatics and performers of cd were very enjoyable.

I think the new internet packages have only been deployed to the Away(+) ships. If that goes well, they'll roll it out fleet wide.

I always come back to my local teppanyaki joint for the good show and the reliably great food.
And even though the show on the Sun last summer was nothing in comparison, we still went twice for lack of a better option. If you enjoy the spectacle, I'd go to Teppanyaki anyway.
But then again, I found the food in the specialty restaurants on the Sun only so-so. Very large portions, but taste wise, nothing I can't get around here or make at home better. Fortunately, we had the dinning package perk back when it was no service charge and unlimited nights.

The wind wasn't bad on the balcony, but we only had one sea day and spent most of it around the ship.
I can say the balcony was great for viewing the glaciers.
There is a forward lounge on the Sun, but I don't know that we ever went in. The balcony was great for photography.

2018 cruises
in Disney Cruise Line
Posted
Yeah, I was afraid that would be the answer. It looks like Disney isn't cruising from NYC to the Bahamas next September at all.
Oh, well. We'll pick another vacation options.
