Thank you!! I don’t want to pay the price for the cruise if it tenders due to my husband being disabled and cannot climb the stairs while tendering. I do know ahead about GSC being a tender port but don’t want two of them

I read where the Gem is possibly Dock port or tender port. Can someone confirm, please?

Thank you so much for your response.

Port side, near said the tables and chairs.
Thank you! That will make it easier for a scooter to get up to that area.

Where does the elevator on the sports deck stop? Does it stop at the bar area of H20 where the tables and chairs are located?

The ships close the big, heavy fire doors and put big signs out “Stay Out”.
The room stewards, who work for tips, won’t make their first meeting with you saying “What part off ‘Stay Out’ was not clear??? Do you read English????”
You get in the way. If you touch anything in the room, they could fail a supervisor inspection and they should watch that you don’t take anything from other rooms with open doors.
Stay Out.
I agree and think it’s rude to go in the room until it’s clear. I have seen the signs and saw parents with their children disobey the rule. This sets a really bad example to the children and teaches disrespect.

I’m going on the Epic soon and am wondering if there is a ramp to get up to the bar area of Spice H20? My husband will have a scooter and cannot walk up stairs due to a spinal cord injury.

We just returned from our cruise (1/29/22) and I wanted to give a summary of Amber Cove. It is a cruise passenger only (owned by Carnival I believe) stop. We did dock (not tender) and the dock is medium in length - 5-10 minute walk depending on speed. There is not much at the port itself. There are, of course, the usual shops and a couple of bars. There is a large pool with a couple small slides and plenty of free lounge chairs, but not much shade. There is NO beach - not even for walking or snorkeling / swimming. The water is lined on all sides by large boulders with no access. There was even a guard making sure no one tried to climb on or over the boulders. There were some taxis on the road if you exited the protected cruise port area, but nothing within walking distance. It is about a 25 minute ride into the nearest town - Puerto Plata. We however, went on a Carnival excursion and were very happy we did. We usually avoid the ship's excursions, but here you really need to plan something to do if you don't want to sit by a pool all day. We did the Mountain Views and City Sights tour. It was great. It was only $50/pp - it says 3.5 hours, but ours was 5 hours. We were on an open air mini bus that was only half full (14 people on tour). We had a great guide. It is a beautiful, lush, mountainous island and I definitely recommend you try to see some of the island. Our tour went to the top of a mountain where there is a beautiful botanical garden and the famous Christ the Redeemer statue. After about 90 minutes on the mountain, we headed back down and into Puerta Plata where we did a nice drive beside the beach promenade, a walking tour of Plaza Independencia including the cathedral, and walked down Umbrella Street with a stop for local chocolate and homemade ice cream. We also did a drive by of Fort San Felipe. It was a great time. We were back to the ship for lunch (1:00) and then still had time to get back off and walk around the Amber Cove port area before our all aboard at 3:30.
Did the pool at Amber Cove have steps or does it gradually get deeper to get in?

Thanks for your reply. I apologize for using the wrong words. I have heard people bragging about booking a handicapped accessible room that were not handicapped. I guess my frustration was coming through. Sorry!!
-
I’m sure it would to you.

I assume most people just put in for an upgrade and go about their business. Unless you’ve had a spinal cord injury and is quadriplegic, you wouldn’t understand. I apologize for bothering everyone.
-
That doesn’t seem fair to those who are “really” handicapped. I hate to use this word but it feels like discrimination . Thank you so much for you time replying to my question.!

Has anyone been able to upgrade to a handicapped accessible balcony room?
I was told if we have a handicapped accessible room and sign up for an upgrade for a balcony room that there is no guarantee it would be handicapped accessible.??? -
Does the pool at Amber Cove have a slopping entrance into the pool? Or just steps?
Thanks! Carol

Good morning, I forgot to add insurance to my reservation while booking. Can someone advise a good dependable insurance company for me to contact and purchase insurance through?
Thank you so much!

Hello Everyone,
My husband and I are cruising on the Jewel in 2025. This is the Smallest ship we will be cruising on. My husband is handicapped (spinal cord injury) so will need a scooter. In your opinion, is this ship a good ship for a handicapped accessibility? Are there handicapped restrooms on each floor with public access? Also, are the inside accessible rooms large enough for a scooter?
This cruise is 11 days and I want to make sure he will not have problems on the Jewel.
Thank you so much!

We were on the Escape in November and did the other Muster Drill by just checking into the Manhattan. It was easy and took very little time. Throughout the day we heard announcements for people to go to their Muster Drill and check in. This announcement was over and over.
I blame the irresponsible people who disregarded the convenience of doing the Muster Drill that way. Norwegian had no choice for returning to the “old” way. I don’t blame Norwegian for returning back to this. It was the Entitled Irresponsible cruisers that did this to everybody!!!

Scooter on the Mardi Gras
in Carnival Cruise Lines

Hello, my husband has a spinal cord injury and has to have a scooter. Can anyone with experience tell me if the Mardi Gras is easy to navigate with a scooter and does it have sufficient restrooms for a scooter to navigate?
