Man, this is quite entertaining listening to the comments/justifications, etc.  I should have loaded up on popcorn first.

Not sure if the restriction to buying package for everyone is waived because of location, NCL norm, or that only two per cabin get Free at Sea?

At any rate, this is clearly intended to skirt the rules; how could it be interpreted any other way?  If they want to drink wine they should buy a package or pay as they go.  Very simple.

I drink and my wife does not, so buying a package does not make sense.  We also were offered free packages if we pay the gratuity, and simple math indicates even then it is not a good deal for us.  If I were by myself it would be a no brainer to purchase it.  I'm cheap too, and will maybe get the credit card to build up some OBC for my drinks.  Everyone's situation is different and while I wish cruise lines had more flexibility, I would never try to justify breaking the rule with some BS like dumping drinks or throwing up a mocktail red herring when in reality I intend to drink wine.

Putting a crew member in an awkward position with a customer is also not cool.

By the way, I am traveling with a party of 10 who all have packages and I would never even think of asking them to order me a drink.

But will you take one if it is offered to you?

We are on that cruise too (it’s my school break), and I noticed that most rooms are now unavailable or if available, only offered as the guarantee stateroom only. I expect a cruise over capacity with lots of kids, but like you am prepared for it. I do hope some of the issues

we had last February with a few challenging older kids will not be as prevalent, but it’s a risk traveling during school break! See you

    on the ship!

Oh no!! When in Feb. are you booked!!

The refund for our TAs for the Nov. 12 Joy hit our credit card on Nov. 18.  I recall their saying 6-8 weeks, but I think it's crazy that you haven't received yours yet, and I wonder if things may have slipped through the cracks.

Is this the number you've called?   833-570-2594

You can always try the direct web submission contact form, here:

    https://www.gov.bm/contact

    Good luck!

    I tried this e mail..fingers crossed!!!

We visited Bermuda on Nov. 14, the 1st day of the end of the TA requirement. We had our refund on our credit card Nov. 18. No forms, no emails needed. It was just credited back.

I was on that cruise...no refund yet!  the phone number goes dead, no return of e mails...should  i dispute the charges on my credit card

  5. Wondering if anyone is still waiting for their refund from Bermuda for the $40 we paid for our cruise but didn't need. It says those on the Nov. 12 NCL Joy would be refunded in 6-8 weeks. I know some have already but we haven't. I tried calling, says my call cannot be transferred. Tried emailing with no return.

The Taino Bay port schedule web site that I've found, link below, doesn't have any info for 2023 yet.  Do you have another site?

    https://www.porttainobay.com/es/arrivals

As for Amber Cove, not only is the Getaway not shown for Feb. 15, but the port schedule lists two Carnival ships there that day, which means there's no other docking space.

    https://ambercove.com/Port-Schedule.aspx

    https://cruisedig.com/ports/puerto-plata-dominican-republic/arrivals. thought I looked @ 2022 @ first. but did find it.

Educate yourselves! There are so many great vacations out there right now outside of the cruise space. I am typing this from a land based resort where we just spent three nights. Live entertainment every night including comedy, dealing pianos, singers. Christmas decorations everywhere. Indoor pool and hot tubs. No surcharges, surcharges, etc. It is wonderful and compares very favorably from a pricing perspective.

We have enjoyed cruising in the past. I can't see us booking a cruise on any cruise ship in the near term. Someone else will have to subsidize their COVID losses. It ain't going to be us.

feel like I am losing the love I had for cruising. We usually do both cruises and all inclusive in the winter months to beat the cold. Our 30 day stay in an all inclusive in Puerto Vallarta for March costs the same as our 12 day cruise for Feb. with NCL, plus they fly you there. we have been disappointed in the service, food, and entertainment this past November cruise that I am hoping our Feb. NCL helps change my thoughts!

  8. Just to follow up. I was having trouble with the website and unable to find my reservation. I called MSC and got a really nice lady. I was expressing my frustrations with having to call so many times. She asked me about my calls. She got me checked in, sent me the edocs and lo and behold..I am now a Gold Member, rec'd the confirmation email with the edocs.

Just a real pain.  FWIW, I don't find the loyalty perks for MSC to be all that great.  I have benefitted from the 5% off but it applies to the booking so I didn't worry that DH wasn't status matched.  Unless you have enough points to get you to the highest MSC tier, the trouble outweighs the benefit a lot of the time.  Maybe give them a call?...that could be a hassle as well but might be worth a try.

I called, the agent told me they don't status match...end of conversation!! I did come across a post on here with the link, and summitted the form.  Will wait and see!!!

  10. We are jumping ship, NCL ships. Off the Joy to Bermuda and can say we were very disappointed overall. Food/service was poor, unable to book a specialty resturant once onboard. Tender to St. Georges had people pushing each other. Bar service slow, etc. Cruise next team continued calling us to buy more, but we used our last one and am looking forward to moving on. Will they be better, who knows, but following our week on the joy, we are interested to exploring new options.

Day 3 in Charlottetown was fantastic. Watched the sail in. Breakfast was in the Great Outdoors and the sun came out. Beautiful day. We got off the ship and strolled around. We waited before we got off because we didn't want to be amongst the crowd running to their tour buses. I could live in Charlottetown. There is a nice harbor walk that we did. We brought some souvenirs. Back on board we sat at the Atrium bar and watched football. See was calm when we got in. Apparently, lots of people were seasick the day before due to the rocking and rolling of the ship. We had a nice walk around the promenade. Dinner at Cagney's was wonderful. The food was delicious. I had the jumbo crab cake, the petit fillet mignon with baked potato and steamed broccoli and the raspberry creme brulet for dessert. We went off to Spinnakers to listen to 80's music and then watched the Eagles beat the Cowboys and remain unbeaten!

Overnight, the ship is rocking and rolling again as we head to Sydney.

  12. You are in my beautiful home, Charlottetown, PEI today. We are booked to go on the Joy to Bermuda in Nov. so I went down today to get a closer look. You certainly had a great day weather wise..seen lots of line ups to the seafood restaurants. Our province has so much to offer that a day in Port is not enough to really see its beauty. Perhaps you will come back again sometime!!! Enjoy the rest of your cruise and thanks for all the pics and info!!!

So annoying.  Tested positive Feb 3rd and supposed to sail March 13. NEW CDC guidance says I shouldn’t have to test, but NCL has not changed that policy yet. So I run the risk of not sailing.  It all comes down to the test on March 11.

Tested positive Feb. 5....recommended not to retest x 180 days but needed to be negative to board Monday Feb. 28..gave it a whirl at the clinic today and it was negative...now fingers crossed rapid is still negative Monday...

Disney just announced that they are implementing a new policy for people recently recovered from Covid.  If you've tested positive between 11-90 days before the cruise, you don't have to have a test to get on board.  Hopefully other cruise lines will adopt this policy as well.  Solves my problem!

Wouldn't this be wonderful. I tested positive Saturday, Feb 5, Public Health called me today and suggested I cancel my cruise of Feb 28, 2022 from NYC...says they recommend we do not test for 90 days following a positive PCR and if mandatory negative to get on NCL, can't guarantee it. They did offer me a recovery letter but apparently NCL doesn't accept!

Haven't thought about this in a while. If we bring wine onboard, what is the corkage fee and when do we pay it? We are B2B2B and want to bring on a special bottle for our middle cruise (anniversary). There was a time they would confiscate it and return it at the end of the cruise. Then we would have it in the cabin at the start of the second cruise. Can we still do this, or do they charge you corkage when boarding?

What about if we buy a bottle in the islands on cruise #1, they confiscate it but give it back on last night so we have it for DIY cocktails on the balcony on cruise #2 & 3? We are on the Escape in February and don't have the booze package on any of the cruises.

    Thanks,

    Tony

We celebrated an Anniversary on one of our cruises and we were given a card that gave us a complimentary bottle for our special day. We just added the date when we purchased the cruise.

It may very well be commission that has been paid to the TA.  Depending on the time period of when it was cancelled Royal will wither initiate a commission recall  order or write the commission off.  Either way you will get that back from Royal and you won't have to wait for the TA to pay back the commission, they just have to start the process before they can initiate the payment to you

Looks like that may have happened...thanks so much for the info...
