  1. Thinking about going with them when we are in Cozumel.  Have been there numerous times and have done most the same things...beach, snorkel, a few of the AI's.  Thinking about something different as we are there until 8PM as well.  Someone told me to go with Black Hat Tour Guide and Liz Lopez.  Thoughts on this company?  Same person said $90/PP for 3 hours an additional $25/hr if we wish to do more.  What are some recommendations to do different than what I've listed we have done above?  Sights, out door things, scenery, tequilla distillery, different places to shop than down town, some good local food, etc.... We want to do either 3 or 4hrs max....

      Thanx for any help!

  2. Looking for places to find once we get done with the beach and shopping where we can get some fresh conch (either fritters or even better Ceviche)  Any recommendations either around the port or else where?

      Cheers!

  3. This will be our third trip /stop at the Island on our upcoming cruise.  Rather than doing the normal stuff on the Island for the hours we are there we are thinking about getting someone to take us out to tour the crystal Caves.  Does anyone know of a good tour guide that I can get in touch with about getting us out to see the caves.

      Cheers!

  4. On the Vista and get into port 7/17/2018 I can't seem to figure out if we dock down in the SE in La Romana or up on the N-NW part of the Island at Amber Cove. I seen an article that says Port of Amber Cove

Amber Cove is an $85 million port in the Dominican Republic developed for cruise passengers by Carnival Corporation.

Just trying to figure out where we port as there is a big difference in port locations and what we plan to do.

    Cheers!

  5. I was going to start a new post but seen this one and will ask a fwe questions and hopes that folks can chime in and answer.

    1. We are advanced in swimming/snorkeling and have no problems swimming out far and in heavy current. We are looking for a place that is the best to snorkel waves/current really doesn't matter (to a point)...BLUF: We not looking for places for new or limited experiences swimmers. Where should we go?

    2. After spending some time there we are looking for a place where you can rent chairs/umbrellas that has food and drink. Wive does NOT swim/snorkel so we is good with the rest of us going for a few hours (thus looking for the place in above #1) then we need to find a nice beach with amenities. Where will that be?

    Cheers!

  6. All,

starting the research for our next cruise and we are in port at La Romana for 7 hrs (0939 to 430). Is it even doable to try to get from the port out to Punta Cana to the beaches out there? If so whats the best way to get there.

If not feasible, what are some nice beaches that are doable for a few hours then some shopping?

    Cheers!

  7. Having just returned from our Celebrity Summit cruise yesterday (2 Dec) we were in Barbados 27 Nov. While in port we did a private tour with Sanjay Kini. He picked us up at the port and we toured various locations over the Island both on the Atlantic and Caribbean side. He made a stops at a few local "rum shacks" on the tour for local drinks and eats as well. We toured both the St. Nicholas Abby as well as the Mount Gay distillery's. We ended at Mount Gay and walked a block and caught the local bus back to the port. After we got back to the port I forgot that Cockspur rum was also made on the Island, I would have gone there vs Mount Gay. Both tours were nice but the Abby was much better and you could even see them actually making rum and they would answer all questions, where as the Mount Gay tour was only information only and then a tasting but no seeing the rum being made and they would tell you much information i.e. where they got the oak barrels to age the rum. The folks at the Abby told us they got the barrels from Jack Daniels. All in all it was a great day on the Island and Sanjay was a great tour guide.

  9. Figure that the cabs are back up and running post hurricanes. I was told that before the storms you could get Uber from the air port to the terminal.

Anyone know if that is/was true? If so I assume its still true. Where do you go to get an Uber at SJU? Flying in on Southwest next Sat (25 Nov)

    Cheers

  10. I have heard that a lot of the power is back up and running on the Island. If we decide to take the ferry over to one of the beaches after we're done are any of the bars/restaurants open or should we think just about getting back over to STT? Been to STT many times but never STJ and was hoping for beaches/bars and restaurant while we were over there but not so sure.

  11. Still trying to figure out what to do when we get to Antigua and have heard that Nelson's Dockyard is a nice place to shop and see. I assume we can do that via bus and walk around for a few hours. Is there a niece beach close to the docks that has chairs/umbrella/some shade plus drinks and snacks? If so what is the name of it and how do we get there from the docks?

    Cheers!
