  1. bellebud - thanks for reading and your reply. I tried to get a cabana but the are terribly difficult to obtain both on the Family Beach and at Serenity Bay. This is especially true if this is your first Disney Cruise. That said; we had a ton of fun without one and didn't feel like we missed out at all. We're beach people too and this was one of the best beach days we've ever experienced.

As you'll discover in your research there is no shortage of activities on CC if that's what you're interested in doing. CC is very much an extension of the ship so all the amenities you enjoy on the ship are essentially on the island as well. Here are some other fun things you can do during your visit to CC when you need a beach break.

    - rent bikes and ride around the island

    - walk around the island (you can walk down the old runway and be sure to do the loop which takes you to the look out tower OR Minnie's Castle as my daughter calls it)

    - snorkel (Disney has hidden treasures in the water that make this very enjoyable)

    - rent one of the water toys (hobie's, jet skies...)

    - stingray experience

    - run the CC 5k (this was a great way to start the day and see the island before settling on the beach)

There are many many more activities and these are just a few you can enjoy. I highly recommend either walking or biking around the island and checking out the lookout tower. If you don't want to be away from the beach for too long go with the bikes. They have a ton of bikes for all ages plus they offer helmets as well.

    Disney does it right.

  2. Smoothest and most relaxed debark process I've ever experienced. That said, I was on Magic which is a bit smaller than Dream. The a la carte breakfast in the morning is a beautiful Disney touch.

Not sure about Pelican Plunge as my 2.5 yr old defiantly couldn't swim out to it.

  3. Someone more experienced with Disney can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe ticketing events is a way to best accommodate all on board. As an example I believe Anna and Elsa only do meet n greets on 7-nt or longer so everyone has a chance to meet them. Same for apply for Disney Jr Breakfast and Princess Gathering.

The Tea with Alice was not offered on our sailing but that event may go by different rules since it's more event than just meet n greet. Others on this board such as mokismom would one to ask for better clarification.

I would take your SLR for the scheduled meet n greets but perhaps wouldn't carry it all day everyday. The handlers do a great job helping take photos on guest cameras.

  4. Thanks to those who have clicked on the link above and read my review. We've cruised a total of three times and our DD was 8-months (Celebrity), 20-months (Royal) and 2.5+ (Disney) on those respective cruises.

I am more than happy to answer any questions relating to traveling with an infant and toddler as well as about traveling on those particular lines.

  5. Hey mividajp - DW, DD and I are just off Magic (three weeks ago). DD is 2.5 and fully potty trained. We thought she'd be better off in OC vs. nursery but when we got there we realized that at home we wouldn't want her in daycare with 12 yr olds so why all of a sudden were we comfortable with her being in OC with 12 yr olds. We put her in the nursery which she loved despite being one of the oldest in that room. As a bonus we still got to enjoy OC during the many Open House hours they have throughout the cruise. Didn't think we'd take advantage of the open houses but some of our best times with our DD were during those times. We had a blast. Disney Difference makes a difference for parents.

  6. Hi Tigerman4LSU - this is a great question I really had to think a lot about before answering.

There is honestly nothing I would choose not to do if we were on Magic again. That said, there are a few things I might do differently.

    - our first day at sea was too busy for our daughter with the Disney Jr. Breakfast, Princess Gathering and Meet n Greet with Anna and Elsa: if we could do it again I would request that we do at least one of those on the second sea day to spread it out

    - Cabanas is understandably packed on embarkation day: I believe one of Lumiere's or Carioca's is open as well so going there after boarding may be a better option if you want something a little less busy

Here are some things we didn't do that I can't wait to go back and do.

    - we all got dressed up for pirate night but unfortunately our daughter couldn't stay awake for the fireworks: we heard them from our room and the show sounded like it was a blast

    - we had every intention of catching a movie at the Buena Vista Theatre as our daughter has never been to the movies (she's 2.5) so we really wanted to take her especially knowing that there was no additional cost so if we left half way through a movie it would be no big deal

    - we love room service, perhaps too much: because we got room service every morning we didn't venture to Cabanas much which really was great when we did venture there: good quality and quantity of offerings

    - D-Lounge looked like it had a lot of great activities going on but given the age of my daughter we only got there once for a Wake Up with Disney Jr event (which was awesome)

    - would have loved to have caught more shows in Walt Disney Theatre: extremely high quality productions but was only able to see Villains Tonight, Twice Charmed and the magic show with Mike Super (who was better than Super)

Honestly; you'll have a great time. You won't have the time to do everything which means you'll have to book again at the Future Cruise Desk...which I did.

    Cheers

  7. Hey Tigerman4LSU - you know from my review thread I am just off Magic. I kept my Navigators and can tell you what they were playing while we were on board.

    Maleficent

    Guardians of the Galaxy

    Strange Magic

    The Hundred Foot Journey

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible No Good Very Bad Day

    Big Hero 6

    Frozen

    Into the Woods

    Hope that helps.

  8. Tigerman4LSU - I unfortunately do not have pics of the menus. I like good food but I'm not a foodie so snapping those types of pics wasn't something I did. I thought the menu offerings in all three dining rooms were very strong. Good variety of options, something for everyone not matter whether you're adventurous or picky. Kids options were very good also.

They did have a Disney Jr. Character breakfast on our first sea day. Four characters were Jake, Sophia, DocMcStuffins and Goofy. Lots of fun and very well done. Each character comes to your table for a personal visit and photo opp.

  9. cocacola86 - you and significant other without kids? If so I'd say yes because the adult only venues are very good. Quiet Cove, Cove Cafe are nice during the day and at night the shows are very well done. The non-Broadway style shows are good too. Plus you have Keys, Fathoms and my favourite O'Gills. You won't be able to avoid kiddies altogether but you will get quiet time if and when you want it.

  10. I was there two weeks ago and we had a fantastic beach day. It was roughly 26c mix of sun and cloud. This was cooler than what we've normally experienced but we cruised late Jan vs. our regular time which is mid to late Feb.

We were in bathing suits all day lounging on the beach and hoping into the ocean to cool down when it was required.

  11. Two years ago we went to Carlos n Charlies and we had a great day. I don't remember and entry fee but we certainly bought food and beverages.

Two weeks ago we went to Nachi. Fantastic day. Great facilities, great food well worth the AI price you pay.

  12. Do you know if Monteo bay is a tender port? (I know wrong thread)

Montego is not a tender port. We docked there two weeks ago today but it wasn't planned. We were supposed to dock in Falmouth but weather conditions didn't allow for that so we docked in Montego. Two ships ported in Montego that day that weren't originally supposed to and they still had space to accommodate us.

  13. Two years ago we did dolphin cove through Celebrity. It was well worth the money. We enjoyed the nature walk (which is short) from the bus to the faculty after we were dropped off. After the swim you dry off and have the opportunity to see their other aquatic life such as lobsters, crabs, urchins, etc. The bus then picked us up and took us to 7-mile for some beach time.
