  1. Have stayed at the Embassy Suites pre-cruise every January for the past couple of years. No complaints. Beds are fine, probably not spectacular but they are ok. Breakfast in the morning is great. Grocery store and restaurants within walking distance. Yes it is dated and could probably use some updating, but we are only there for one night. Staff is friendly. We already have it booked for January 2019.

Thank you for the feedback. I agree, it is only for ONE night for us pre-cruise, so not as big a deal. I believe the Hyatt Place is booked so we'll probably stick with Embassy. Like you said, it's close to grocery so we can pick up sunblock, bug spray, bottled water before we head to the ship, and a decent breakfast is a plus.

  2. We are staying there next month and picked it for the size of the rooms and heard the location is good! We stayed last year at Hyatt Place not the convention center one nothing walking distance

Please report back on your thoughts of Embassy Suites. I have a reservation there, and have attempted one with Hyatt Place convention center although haven't heard back from the website for travel.com - when I called the Hyatt they are full for the night we will be there in October.

  3. Thanks everyone. When I called to order bottled water for our cabin, it was $81 total for 24 bottles. That's insane. I do prefer bottled water, but at that price I'd keep empty water bottles and refill.

We were flying in the day of the cruise, but with a recent notification from Delta of later time change to the flight, we opted to change to flying in the night before (which I'd wanted to do in the first place lol). Now that we'll be in FLL the night before the cruise, I'd love to be able to stop at a CVS or someplace to pick up bottled water.

Does anyone know of the closest store to pick up bottled water on the way to the port?

  4. We will be doing the tour on our May 25th cruise and can report back after.

That would be great, thank you! We are not going on Adventure of the Seas until Oct 27th. Like I said, I've done one tour on Princess. It was a lot of fun, but not sure I'd spend the $$ again. My friend has never been on a cruise, and is interested but not sure either. I will wait to see your thoughts!

  5. UPDATE:

Segways are back on boardwalk now. New vendor started renting last week.

So do you have to wait until you dock and then hope to find the vendor on the boardwalk? Any details on the name/website of the segway co? I'd rather book in advance.

  6. Hi, my friend and I will be on RCL Adventure of the Seas this Oct-Nov, stopping in St. Maarten, St. Kitts, and San Juan. We'd like to do a segway tour at one of these ports. I have high recommendations of a segway tour in San Juan, but they need a minimum of 4 people or may cancel and I hate to book it only to have it canceled at last minute.

Any suggestions for St. Kitts or St. Maarten segway tour? Currently we're booked for kayaking in St. Maarten and stand-up paddle boarding in St. Kitts, but would cancel one of those to do a segway tour.

    thanks!

  7. I just turned 56. I don't feel it and don't think I look like it. I love Dr. Denese skin care products which I get on QVC. I use her face wash and I also love her SPF30 Defense Day Cream. Another product I found recently which I really like is Color Science daily protector whipped mineral sunscreen which has a light tint to it.

I'm also a daily runner and workout regularly at Orange Theory Fitness. If there is a studio near you, try it! I'm in love and think it's totally worth the cost. I believe staying fit and drinking plenty of water makes a huge difference, as much if not more than products.

  8. I love heels too! But ever since 40, I've decided that wedges are much more comfortable. I love a good wedge! And I've got some beautiful Michael Kors wedges that are dressy and super comfortable. I'll be bringing one in black and one in gold for my next cruise. Both have 3 3/4 espadrille wedge bottom.

I live for heels ... stilettos, platforms, wedges, doesn't matter - I love heels!!! But I only buy shoes that are comfortable. I won't endure foot pain for fashion.
  9. Thanks everyone. I will check at the airport once we get through TSA/security. I'm sure it will be expensive, maybe about the same as the ship. Also not sure about stopping in the cab at CVS as how much extra $$ that will cost us. Yes, I know I can carry 3oz in my 3-1-1 bag, but that won't be enough. I may see if I can fit two 3oz tubes in my 3-1-1 bag, and can always buy more on the ship.

  10. Whoops, yes flying into FLL. Thanks so much for the tips on where to purchase suncreen.

Assuming you are flying into FLL there is a CVS on the corner of 17th street and S. Fed Hwy. That should be right on the way to the port from the airport and it is open 24 hours. There is a Publix grocery store at 17th and Cordova back in the shopping center opens at 7 am. There is a Walgreens at 17th and Eisenhower open 24 hours. Have a great cruise!
  11. Hi, my friend and I are sailing on Adventure of the Seas this October. We are flying in that Saturday, nonstop flight. Also only bringing carry-ons. B/c we are not bringing checked luggage, not a lot of room for big bottle of sunscreen and bug repellant.

Any suggestions for a place to have taxi stop and get some of these items on the way to the ship? Would the airport sell these items? Not sure if there is a CVS or something on the way to the port.

    Thanks!!

  12. I don't know if you ladies have discovered these already, but I was in Chico's the other day FOR THE FIRST TIME (Yes, I never went there before can you believe it until a friend told me to go) and found a couple of really beautiful scarf-poncho top - are they called ruana scarves?

Anyway, they will transform my basic top I wear during the day into a pretty outfit for the evening, swapping out the shorts for pants or skirt.

    I have always been a Macy's girl, but I think I found a new love in Chico's!!

  13. I agree with Travel Chick 69, but will add that for me, a wedge is super comfortable and you can buy wedge sandals that are very lightweight. I have some in black and gold, and taking black with me on next cruise. I've found that black or gold will go with all my dinner dresses. I have a pair of very comfortable walking sandals too that look cute with dresses if I want to be a little more casual at night. I always wear my running shoes, as these are the heaviest/bulkiest and I usually work out every morning on a cruise unless a super early excursion. I love working out early in the morning looking at the ocean! It's a fantastic way to start the day :-)
