  1. i have not been on the gem yet but from what i can gather there are a few areas:

Deck 13, Bali Hai Bar & Grill

    Deck 6, Casino

    Deck 6, Corona Cigar Bar

Deck 7 aft, Bliss Area promenade deck

Deck 13 both sides of the bar

we are sailing next month, pm me after the 28th and i will let you know what i find out.

Sorry, i meant the 28th of April :D

  2. OP: if your PCC was supposed to get back to you on something, they should have done so. I'd give them one last chance with another call or email. If you don't hear back promptly after that, I'd get another PCC or just use the reps at the main number. You certainly are entitled to have NCL address whatever issue or question you raised with the PCC.

Thank you, i left another message with him today, will give him a couple days to respond and then will call the main number.

  3. Very happy with mine and easy to get in touch with when I have questions![emoji16][emoji106]

So glad that you have had a good experience.

I’m usually in the minority on these boards. I agree with the OP. If information was requested, why can’t it be provided in a timely fashion? Or do we take it for granted in our unproductive, unprofessional society that effort will never exceed compensation?

  5. I thought a lot of the mass market cruise lines have an automated service charge. ETA, apparently DCL has had this charge for years, too.

Tips on Disney Cruise Line are automatically added onto your shipboard account at the beginning of the cruise. These cover your stateroom host and dining room staff. Disney suggests an amount to tip, but this can easily be increased or decreased at Guest Services.

ETA is appears Celebrity also adds them now, too.

    I stand corrected! :D

  6. i really look for the best in people and hate to believe that I have been forgotten about but..

i was told that i had to go through a personal cruise consultant to book and pay because i had credit from a cancelled cruise.

this person was wonderful and helpful the whole way through... until i made my final payment. now i hear nothing but crickets.

is this common for NCL? has anyone else had this happen to them?

  7. The handicapped stateroom has more than just space, it has an accessible bathroom that many people also need. We have been offered up-sells many times but I cannot give up the handicapped stateroom because my husband needs the special shower (roll in and with shower seat) and bars next to the toilet.

I guess it depends on what limitations you have as to whether or not a "regular" mini suite will work for you.

Oohh, wasn't thinking about that! Thank you!

  8. 7 months ago on the breakaway we ate there 3 times. the food was good! all three times the service was sloooooooowwww. the first two times we were there the place was all but empty, so i cannot figure that one out. the last time we went it was packed at breakfast so taking longer is understandable.

going on the gem next month, hoping the service is a bit quicker if we decide to eat there :)

Edited to add: we found the portions to be a bit on the smaller side and our server at breakfast was a HOOT!!!

  9. We are traveling on the GEM on 4/21/18 and we have an obstructed ocean view handicap room already booked.

We received the "bid to upgrade" email and realize that if we bid and get accepted that we will not be guaranteed a handicap room.

My question is, has anyone ever stayed in a Mini Suite with a scooter successfully on the GEM? I would love to have the balcony, but if I can't get the scooter in the room or be comfortable with the scooter in the room then I don't want to try for the upgrade.

    Thank you :)

  10. i brought a nice large "double wall vacuum insulated stainless steel" water bottle with me because i love ice water all day/night. i would fill with ice and water at the buffet and these bottles keep coooooold for at least 24 hours (still had ice in it in the mornings) and hot for 6-12-24 hours (depending on the brand). you do not have to buy the name brand bottles because the cheaper ones work just as well, if not better.

  11. disneynutssss - love the seb description. People like that have no concept of karma, which can also be a b*tch.

It's like the guy who weaves in and out of traffic, cuts you off, weaves in and out some more, and then winds up behind you at the next light. That's karma at work.

    lol!! :')

  12. Unfortunately in this day & age a high % of the world suffers from SEBs (Self Entitled B!tch*s Syndrome). I routinely find myself saying "I hate people" more & more.

I went on the Breakaway in September & it was the most frustrating time of my life when it came to elevators!! My able bodied hubs & son tried their best to get elevators for me before the SEBs barged their way on. We would sit & wait & try forever.. even with 8 elevators there! The fact that not all of the elevators went to the top floors didn't help. We frequently got on elevators going the wrong way just so we could get on.

This was a constant struggle throughout the entire cruise. I never wanted to go off on my own because it would take me at LEAST 15 minutes to get an elevator on my own. The first time I did that, my boys were quite worried about me while I was gone.

We did run into a couple of people who would hold others off/hold the elevator so that I could get in (thank you if it was you), & in turn my hubs and son did the same for others.

For the people who wouldn't move when I was going into the elevators, I said "Watch your toes!! Only got 2 today, much better than the 7 yesterday!" People then moved.

As for helping holding the elevators open... if you are outside the elevator and there is a scooter backing out you can probably let go of the elevator door once the scooter is in between the doors, because like a pp said, the doors will hit the scooter not us. We don't actually WANT to run over peoples toes lol.

I completely understand where the original poster is coming from as they probably encountered the same aggrivating frustration as I. I would have paid for an HC elevator lol. But I realize that Crew Moderation of elevators at peak times would maybe be a better option. It's unreal that a ship that size only had elevators forward and aft.

With that I realized I'm not fond of mega ships & most likely won't cruise one again.

I opted not to go to Disney this year because of SEBs & instead booked Cancun.. but b/c of the bad press Cancun was getting I switched last minute to the Escape out of Miami.... alas Hurricane Irma decided that wasn't going to happen either. So with 2 days left until my vacation, I ended up booking 1 of the last cabins on the Breakaway - I guess there is no getting away from SEBs lol.

I am now booked on a smaller ship in April, with elevators Fwd, Mid & Aft, half the people, and hoping (yn) that we have a better time :p

  13. Believe NCL doesn't show the availability of Accessible Cabins on its website. NCL has to be contacted directly to determine availability.

Usually you can see on the website if an Accessible room is available when you try to book it.

I just went through this trying to book an Accessible Oceanview and after searching the cruise I called my "NCL Agent" (if thats what they're called) and he confirmed what was and wasn't available and it matched what i saw online.
