Thank you for the help!!!  Didn't realize they had changed.

I cannot find the NCL iConcierge App in the Apple Store.  We are boarding Encore next Sunday and have used the phone/text app very successfully on previous NCL cruises and want to do so again.  Does anyone have any insight as to why I can't find it to download?

My husband and I stayed in an Escape aft balcony on deck 11.  It was AWESOME!!!  No cons whatsoever for us....Enjoy!!

We were in Escape aft balcony 11314 in Feb. There were 2 chairs, 1 lounger and a table. Cabin and balcony were awesome!!!

We took the 'Behind the Scenes' tour while on our Feb '16 Escape cruise. We toured the backstage area of Theatre, galley and environmental services. The cost was $79pp (if I remember correctly). We felt it was very informative and well worth the time and money.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the AFT balcony. This will be our first time in that type of stateroom. We will be in 14304 and we are excited. However, if there is an opportunity for an upsell to the Haven, not sure what we would do (probably take the upsell).

 

Haven't heard much about Bayamo so I was wondering exactly what you didn't like (specific dishes)? We booked it for our first night of the trip with hopes of eating on the waterfront.

We had difficulty finding anything on the menu that even sounded appetizing and that was after being explained by our server. My husband chose a quinoa corn chowder. He almost gagged after first taste. I tried it and it was awful and I am not a picky eater. He ordered steak which was served sliced with an odd sauce on it. Taste and texture was just 'off'.

I had a lobster appy suggested by server. It was ok but not anything i would have expected for fine dining. I also had a lobster dish with a tomato sauce entrée. Lobster was tough and sauce was mediocre.

We were so disappointed we did not stay for dessert. We went to the buffet for dessert!!! That being said, dining on The Waterfront is wonderful and our server Edelyn was excellent. Hope you have a better experience.

We too, were on the 2/20/16 sailing of Escape and I agree with your review. We had a wonderful time, beautiful aft cabin (11314), outstanding service throughout the entire week. While we did feel some ship movement at times it was relaxing with no motion sickness issues whatsoever. The only disappointment for us was our dinner at Bayamo. Food was fair at best. All other dining and entertainment was excellent.

Additionally, we stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel for one night pre-cruise. Lovely hotel, great service and amazing view of port. Highly recommend!

Also used South FL Limo to and from FLL. Price comparable to taxi but much superior in service. Again, highly recommend!

Love Escape and NCL!

We just disembarked Escape yesterday 2/27. We were in aft 11314 and loved it! The balcony was very comfortable with the standard 2 chairs and table plus a lounger. There was plenty of room to maneuver. The sights and sounds from the stern were amazing!

We are sailing on the Escape on 2/20. We have the SPD with reservations at Bayamo. I have read several negative comments about Bayamo and am now questioning whether I want to dine there. That being said, I also read negative comments about Ocean Blu prior to our Getaway cruise and we had a wonderful dinner there. Thoughts, opinions, reviews of Bayamo?? Thanks in advance!!

Thank you for your feedback on the Dawn--Boston to Quebec City cruise. We are booked for this same cruise next September. :)

My DH and I have only been on a few cruises with our first NCL freestyle being on Getaway Feb '14. We LOVED it!!! The ship and all its amenities were exceptional. As a result of our great experience we have booked the Escape for Feb '16 which I am sure will be amazing as well.

My dilemma....I would love to sail the Dawn to Canada-Boston itinerary in the Fall of 2016 but am afraid we will be disappointed in the older Dawn after being on the two new ships. Thoughts from those who have cruised either of the 'Aways' and the Dawn for comparison on overall experience would be appreciated. The Dawn reviews I have read have been very mixed.

We had a mid-ship deck 13 angled balcony on the Getaway Feb, 2014.

After reading comments from other CC posters I chose an aft facing angle to reduce wind exposure while the ship is sailing....very pleased with decision and balcony.

We sailed Getaway in late Feb (3rd sailing from Miami). Walk-off disembarkation was a breeze. We had a 10:30A flight home...took cab and were at Miami airport by 8:45A. That is when things got hairy!!! You feel as though you are in a third world country at Miami International. Very congested and disorganized. Check-in painfully slow!! We did make our flight by the 'skin of our teeth' but will never fly in or out of Miami again if FLL flights are available.

So since you mentioned that you can't tell them how you want your meat cooked, I suppose you can't ask them to substitute the "turf" for the "surf" can you? I don't really care for meat and would rather have just the shrimp. I getting the feeling that these meals are all just pre-made at once and brought out. Correct?

We were on the 2.22.14 Getaway sailing and saw Illusionarium dinner show which was EXCELLENT!!! You absolutely can request your beef cooked to your preference which I did and my request was graciously received and my steak arrived just as I ordered (rare). If no specific request was made the steaks were cooked medium. The couple seated next to us did not eat fish and requested that it be held from their dinners. Their request was also graciously met. Go, enjoy and if you have specific request...just ask!!

Sorry that your trip did not meet your expectations. We were also on the 2.22.14 sailing of the Getaway and we did not experience any of the issues you have listed. From the moment we stepped into the NCL terminal until the time we disembarked the ship every aspect of the Getaway experience was outstanding!!!

We were on the Getaway 2.22.14 sailing and ate at La Cucina on Thursday evening. Really enjoyed our dinner and it certainly was not Olive Garden. Service was great as it was everywhere onboard and we were able to dine outside which made it even better!!!

I'm just off the getaway and found it very useful! After a bit of struggle setting it up on airplane mode allowing wifi I "purchased" it for $0.00, not sure if it was a fluke or not but yes, it said it was free. I was able to use the messaging once when DH had the phone on him and we were continuously messaging each other. Each time I got a message it would ding even if the phone was not in use. I really liked the option to look up what was going on around the ship at that very second, very useful instead of carrying around the daily. I probably didn't use it for all it offered but it was one more reason to love the versatility of my iPhone on the cruise.

I totally agree!! We used it for texting and calling on ship and reviewing activities for the day. Worked great!! Would recommend!

We just got off the Getaway yesterday morning (2.22.14 sailing). I never saw any issues with availability of chairs!! I had read so much about the infamous 'chair hogs' but I guess they must have missed our trip. I never noticed a time when loungers were not available in the sun and/or shade depending on your preference. I'm sure the closer to the pool you are the busier it would be but chairs were everywhere!!!

The entire experience was PERFECT to us!!!! Have fun and enjoy!!!

its all going to vary. I have seen several reviews today from folks from this same sailing that had a fantastic time and excellent service.....so don't let the bad outweigh the good! its going to be all about perception....

I like your attitude Tiffygirl!!! My husband and I are boarding the gorgeous Getaway next Saturday, 2/22 and as much as I love reading all the reviews I will NOT let ANYTHING dampen or color my anticipation of our vacation and celebration of our 40th wedding anniversary!!!! All I need for a great vacation is my sweet husband, great conversation and time together...the Getaway is going to provide the perfect 'backdrop' for our special time!! :D
