When you ride the camels the handler is in the front camel leading the guest on a second camel at a fast pace.  The collision occurred when the handlers did not yield to each other and the guest camels collided injuring the gentleman’s leg.

Wow, interesting. I would like to try that someday but was told I'm over the weight limit for a mule ride. Perhaps a camel can endure larger loads.

Make sure your insurance covers you for these forms of transportation.   Did not see any golf carts.  Did see a visitor have his leg injured by two camels passing with no regard for each other.

Did the camel bite their leg or were the 2 camels in a fight and the visitor intervened?

If Princess has not redeployed the Grand Princess and Covid hadn't happened, we would have been 4 days out of Singapore today sailing toward the Suez!  Sometimes cancellation clouds have a silver lining!  We are booked on Azamara for May 2022.  Just have to see Petra and the Suez canal.

True! But it would've made for some interesting stories.

I doubt that you'd have to climb down a ladder to debark.  Probably just use the tender doors, those are closer to the water line and you just go down a set of stairs to board a small boat that takes you to shore.

I'm probably overthinking that part but am genuinely curious what would happen in that scenario if it's a passenger ship. Not just in the Suez canal but I can think of many other tight spots a cruise ship could get lodged in between.

  5. After closely following what is transpiring in the Suez Canal with the Ever Given, it has me wondering what would happen if this was a Princess ship. In the passenger contract what would be the responsibility of Princess? Would passengers be allowed to disembark? Ladders or tenders? Could we stay onboard and wait for the situation to be resolved?

I have the March 13 itinerary booked and have been looking forward to the Suez transit aboard the Island Princess. If I can get a few others interested I might consider a land transfer to avoid that situation entirely, but would that even be allowed or do you think Princess might start offering that as an option? I think it would be more impressive to see the ship from the side and have located a few spots like Al Arish Road in Ismailia Egypt bordering the canal we could see it.

Interested in hearing what others think about this. I know the odds are small but I'm terrified of having to climb off a ladder from the ship in case we get stuck!!

  6. As a plus-sized person myself, I have tried the mini-suite on Princess and appreciate the extra space in front of the basin and being able to bend down. I don't like to have to climb into the bathtub but it's better than having that extremely close relationship with the shower curtain in a standard balcony.

We spent 12 nights earlier this year in a mini-suite on the newest NCL ship the Norwegian Bliss and it WAS bliss - a walk-in shower with sliding doors the length of a bath with multiple body jets and a bathroom with masses of space. Now that's what Princess needs to invest in!

That's some good intel Dides, I don't have NCL on my radar as I'm a die-hard Princess cruiser, but may have to take a look next time around.

  7. Entire cabin, including the bathroom are prefabbed off site and slipped into the ship's superstructure at the shipbuilders dock. What you suggest would require the cutting of several double layers fiberglass walls. I would think this would weaken the stability of the unit. The main point, they have no reason to do it. Ships sail at capacity and have no reason to attract ANY special interest group.

Couldn't they design a few prefab units of different dimensions? They do it already for suites. And I'd be willing to pay a bit more as I'm sure others would too.

I don't think we're a special interest group, rather ordinary folk that would appreciate a little breathing room getting to the commode.

  8. There are locker rooms in the spa area. They can be used by anyone' date=' whether using the spa, fitness center, or just coming in to shower. THe set up is a little different on the various ships, but the showers are always bigger than the standard stateroom showers. You just walk into the spa area and if anyone says anything, tell them you are going to shower. There are lockers to store your stuff, towels, etc. The set up is nicer on some ships than on others.[/quote']

Great idea! I will try that next time. One of the few places on the ship I haven't been to, crew or passenger. Maybe with some motivation I'll go on one of those machines in the fitness center while I'm there and shave off a pound or hundred

  9. Unfortunately the only way to obtain a larger bathroom on Princess is to book a full suite.

Even the mini suites offer pretty much the same size bathroom and unless you qualify for a handicapped room there's not much else available.

I wonder what qualifies for getting a handicapped stateroom. I don't have a handicap pass yet, and certainly don't want to take a handicap room from someone with a wheelchair or crutches, but if there would happen to be an unbooked handicapped room, would they be willing to switch me?

  10. As a cruiser who is also a person of size, I would like to propose a new concept here in case anyone from Princess is reading. I thoroughly enjoy the cruising lifestyle, but after years of doing such I have put on a handful of pounds. For me and I'm sure many others, having a bathroom of larger proportions and doorway would be a welcome addition. In order to keep costs in line with current rates, these staterooms would not have a larger footprint, but instead would sacrifice a few square feet of bedroom space (which yes, is tight already).

Are there any cruise lines that do this, or any idea of whether Princess will do this?

  11. Curtis Stone has gone from the cover boy on the first new version of the Captain's Circle magazine that began this thread to not being mentioned anywhere in the 3rd magazine that I received yesterday.

It promotes Club Class, Luxury Bed, Majestic and the Sanctuary but not one word about Curtis Stone which is another indication to me that he's on his way out of the Princess door.

I'd wager a bet that the reason for that is the voices of all CC'ers here who chimed in against such propaganda!

  12. We haven't tried any Curtis Stone dishes yet. We will on our next cruise in November but it certainly has to be better than Carnival's clown Priince of the kitchen, Guy Fiere.

While I am not a supporter of CS branding on Princess, I am VERY glad Guy Fieri isn't affiliated with Princess.

Imagine the discussion here on the CC boards about the dress code at a restaurant like this

  13. Of his 6 dishes in the MDRs' date=' I only found one to be edible...and anyone can make a pot pie!

If I don't like his MDR food, why would I spend extra to eat at his upcharge restaurant? Princess made a big mistake on this guy. THey should cut their losses and move on.[/quote']

I agree completely. Although I'm worried who they would choose next. I'd prefer dishes and selections by the Princess culinary staff, not any celebrity chef.

  14. Would you book a cruise just two sailings before the ship goes in to dry dock? I'm concerned because of some of the negatives that have been posted on the condition of this ship.

My policy has been to avoid ships 3 weeks before and after a dry dock. Once the soft serve machine was broken on a cruise just prior to it hitting the dry dock and the workers kept saying that they were waiting to fix it until dry dock since there were other upgrades to that area. Not a big deal but I usually get a soft serve each day before hitting the casino as my good luck charm!

  15. I wasn't debating his popularity anywhere. The PP, WupperAV, said GOSH! I had never before this thread heard of Curtis Stone. But then, I don't care!. My comment was in regards to the PP never hearing about Curtis Stone, nothing more, nothing less.

I won't be surprised if a future Princess ship is named Curtis Princess. Or at least christened by him?!?!?

  16. I remember when DH surprised me by ordering the vol-au-vent à la reine--mushrooms, chicken, and sweetbreads in a puff pastry shell. He did not eat it once I let him know what sweetbreads are (thymus gland of a cow).

Sweetbreads, now I made that mistake once. Never again!

  17. I could probably add 30-40 pictures with descriptions from our PC cruise earlier this year. It looked like to me, they have a pretty standard collection of menus. We were on the 10-day, and in the bottom right corner of the menus, is says day # of 15-day Caribbean.

Could you post this here to share with others? It would be nice to compile a list here so others can look at this thread before their Princess cruise and get an idea of some different meals and work up a good cruise appetite!

  18. A good reference book would be "The Food Lovers Companion". It contains definitions of terms and ingredients so if you review the dinner menu outside the dining room in the afternoon, you'd have an idea of what the dish should be. It may be available in Kindle format as well. Sometimes Princess is a little overzealous in their descriptions to make something basic sound fancier so a particular dish may not be prepared the same way as you've had elsewhere but you can always send it back if you don't like it.

Great find! This would be a nice start to a Princess specific menu guide with pictures that CC'ers take off their meals.
