Feel free to dress up formally on any and all of evenings on the ship. The rental tuxedos are actually quite charming.

I read a post on stand by rates and it got me thinking, theoretically speaking, what if princess offered standing room only cruises for deeply discounted rates? Maybe only a limited number per cruise. Where would you sleep? There are usually nice couches near Explorers. I would use showers by the pool.

You have identified one of my inside tips for booking cruises. I like the last minute handicap rooms (of course assuming no handicap person needs the room). As a side note I had a shower stool in my shower all week that I sort of enjoyed.

How can anyone know? It's not starting until October... at the earliest...
Sometimes CC'ers have insider info :D

Does anyone know the 3-4 delectable new creations designed by CS that will be in the AA section in the MDR menu? And which AA items it replaces?

Hi Everyone
My next cruise is coming up and I don't want to pack on the pounds like I did on my last cruise. I know the usual "take the stairs", and "skip the bread bowl, etc. But I am looking for specific dishes in the main dining room that are diet friendly, yet tasty.
How are the Lotus Spa dishes?
I have a few favorites that I must have, like the Eggplant Parm, Escargot and French Onion Soup. I love to try new things and like just about anything, except the cold fruit soups.
Anything you really like for lunch in the MDR?
And please, if you never gain weight on a cruise, skip to the next thread.
Thanks!
Mmmmm the eggplant parm is delicioso.
I gain about 7 pounds/week on average, but think with some better food choices that could be much less.
I sometimes try a dish very unusual thinking I won't eat it all, but then it's either (a) excellent, (b) not too good and then I go to HC, or © I order an extra dessert.

Whenever we do not want to travel with a lot of cash we purchase casino credit which works great for us.
Casino Credit
Available in $25, $50 and $100 increments.
Item #6003 - $25.00
Item #6004 - $50.00
Item #6005 - $100.00
http://www.princess.com/learn/cruise-gifts-celebrations/gifts-and-services/
You can find this on the Princess website under gifts & call them to purchase as many as you desire. Make sure it's the Casino Credit vouchers because I read a post about Princess mistakenly selling OBC & not the Casino Credit vouchers. You simply take the voucher(s) to the casino cage & get USD when desired. If you have any vouchers remaining near the end of your cruise you cash them in & bring the money back home with you.
This casino credit was not displayed on our Cruise Personalizer and our TA emailed the confirmation she received from Princess.
This has worked well for us and it may also be an option for you.
Right this is a great option, not many know about it!

Sorry I contributed to the confusion. But BAGS is the term that some other lines use for their version of what Princess calls.Luggage Valet. (And Luggage Valet is what some lines call their version of EZCheck so confusion reigns supreme unless one is very clear that they are asking about the ship-to-airport disembark day program).
Informative post. Can you create a sticky with these definitions and more? Might be helpful for newbies.

I am considering purchasing a unlimited soda and more package so that dh can have unlimited cocoa on our Alaska cruise on the Coral in September. I am hoping someone can tell me if it is good cocoa or is it just the stuff in a packet that you add water to. I called Princess but the rep could not answer.
The hot cocoa is quite delicious, however it is not specialty by any stretch of the imagination. It hits the spot on cool days on deck. The staff has told me on different occasions when I've asked that it is either Swiss Miss and Carnation.

Thanks, gave them a call. Although I only knew the ship and date of sailing, it didn't matter because no one else has my name and only needed to verify with birthdate. :) Easy!
Also, requested a couple catalogs simply because customer service was the most pleasant I have dealt with on a cruise line. I never take the "1 minute surveys," but felt I needed to recognize how friendly she was. Definitely considering Princess again in the near future!
Excellent! I've had great experiences with customer service over the years.

If you want to dress up then do so. Rather than being out of place you will likely enhance the atmosphere of the ship for many other passengers.
Agreed. Just imagine how nice is would look if everyone dressed up every night! Now that would cause quite a stir on Cruise Critic.

When isn't there a Princess sale? Seems like everyday I get an email or brochure from them.

Starboard has been our preference on that itinerary, but either way you'll have great views!

Here's an article about the updates from June:

It was a nice improvement.

Nice, glad you jumped on that offer!

The root beer floats are the best! Get them at the ice cream place.

I always regard advertising not as an offer to sell but as an invitation to inquire. Because legally speaking that's all an advertisement is no matter how firm the offer may sound (under US laws at least). What company I do choose to inquire with will be decided based on my own information gathering and not the frantically edited media conceived by a twentysomething kid who just finished wasting his education (and his parents' money) as a Marketing major.
My opinion of cruise line adverts? At least they are not as annoying as the insurance companies...yet.
Right on fishy. Those insurance ads can be dreadful!
-
I want to ask you all about this because I have been seeing these new ads for M.S.C. I guess they are O.K. but they seem a little general to me ,I am not sure why I would go with M.S.C. over other lines but I guess it is getting there name out there. It seems to me there is not much rhyme or reason to different lines T.V. buys some have a lot of T.V. (Carnival, Royal Caribbean ) some have almost none (Holland , X, Princess).I have also noticed a lot for the river lines I think more than any M.M.line which seems odd to me. Have you noticed anything about ads and do they sway you to one line over another. Which ads were the best and which were not working for you. I would like to hear others views on this topic .
I agree, the do seem a little general. I'd be interested to see what Princess would put if they would do a TV ad. That being said, I don't think an ad would sway me, since in general I don't get swayed by TV ads.

Big YES for us!

Uh-oh, sorry that this happened to you!
-
Congrats! It's rare that the upgrade fairy strikes twice on the same cruise!

Has anyone enjoyed a Princess floor show so much that they went to multiple showings the same night?
And if so, what was the performance?
-
Our choices for traditional dining times on Ruby (7-night Mexican Riviera) are 5:30 and 6:00. What time do the early shows begin? Can we make the early show with a 6:00 dining time? What time do the later shows begin?
I once witnessed a family of 8 get their desserts "to go" so they could make it to an 8:00 floor show.

When I started cruising in the 1980s I thought I heard something like that with standing room only.
