Thank you for doing this live from! I'll be getting on the Ruby on November 30th so your posts are making me super excited!

My hubby loves a good steam room/sauna but if I am understanding correctly, there is not a free steam room/sauna option any longer? How would we go about using the steam room/sauna; do we buy a daily pass or can we buy a pass for the cruise? Thanks if anyone knows the answer.
Loving this report!!

Drink Vodka. I am also eating lower carb. Fruits have a lot of sugar, be careful with those. The obvious, no breads, buns, tortillas etc....and drink Vodka. :)

We have never been there so I can't give you a personal comparison, but from what I have read, though nice, Princess Cay doesn't compare to Half Moon Cay.
Thank you, I was hoping you had. From what I am reading HMC is superior to Princess Cay.

We are doing the All West Beach Hopping tour with Irie next April. Our friends have done it and said it was by far their favorite excursion and they have done quite a few. I'm looking forward to it. Its the only excursion we have planned for our 4 port days.

Such a fun report, great update.
How does Princess Cay compare to Half Moon Cay?

Interesting and following.

While a goodie bag is a nice gesture, would you tip a server/housekeeping/etc on land with a goodie bag? No. You'd give cash. Cash pays the bills. Candy does not.
-
If you have noon port days it’s certainly possible. Mine are usually more like 9am.
We have 8 am, 9,am, 10 am, and noon port day arrivals. On only one of the days we are doing a planned excursion. Thats on our 10 am Curacao day.
-
Not sure why the "port day" argument even factors in. Pax are still ON the ship a good 8-10 hours daily. The exception maybe being Curaçao. Even then you are awake a good 6 hours before docking.
Thats what I was thinking. We arrive in Grand Turk on one of our port days at noon. Thats plenty of time to enjoy breakfast and a couple of bloody Marys or mimosas or coffee with Bailey's.

I don’t think it’s a matter of people wanting to only break even. I think people want to do the math to see if it makes sense for them so they need to know the break even point. When I get it, I don’t drink more just because I can. But I’m sure some do that.

Exactly. I did the math and figured it makes sense for us to purchase Cheers. Of course I want to know the break even point because how else can I make an educated decision? The break even number is not a goal but it is used in the decision making process; will I save or lose money by purchasing Cheers?
I factored in port days as well and even with 4 on an 8 day cruise, Cheers makes mathematical sense for us. We like to imbibe on vacation. We don't have to drive or take care of children. Its party time!

Praise Patti for taking pictures. I am loving them.
We have a stop in Grand Turk and we are planning on Jack's Shack. Have you spend the day there?

Fantastic update. That sunflower sure is beautiful. The candy shop looks fun.

How is the coffee?

Our CD is Mat Seguin. This may be a newbie question but does the CD make all much difference? I have only taken one cruise where I would have known who the CD was, on Disney, and I had no clue.

There isn't....but there is a vegetarian Indian option on the dinner menu in the MDR every night. It changes a little every night, but it is always delicious. I get it at least once or twice every cruise.
Thank you! I rarely prefer vegetarian anything but Indian is the exception. Vegetarian is every bit as good as with meat options.

To me there are really good burgers: thick, juicy, medium rare. Then there are good flat grill burgers, which is what Guy's are. They are very thin and quickly cooked, so you can't specify medium rare. They are so greasy that the doneness level doesn't matter as much since the high fat content keeps them from being dry (plus many put on a lot of toppings).
I will probably get one burger on my next cruise, but might skip it. I definitely plan to get fries and to try unseasoned as well as the seasoned.
If the bar is open I think you could, and I'd expect at least one bar to be open somewhere on lido deck but I don't think all bars are open that early. I don't remember if you could get hot chocolate outside of breakfast (one per day was plenty for me).
WCMC=Warm Chocolate Melting Cake - I'm going to try it with Peanut Butter:D
Peanut butter and chocolate are deadly and that sounds incredible. They'll add a big spoon of peanut butter?
That makes sense on the burger. Thank you.
I believe there is chocolate as well as vanilla and I seem to recall that some machines had a "twist" where the chocolate and vanilla were combined.Very cool, thanks!

The Hen ala Diovala at the Sea Day Brunch was incredible. Very flavorful, one of the best dishes I had on the cruise. Followed up with the banana cream pie for dessert. Absolutely incredible!
Pizza Pirate and the Tandoor are also must-dos.
I don't think our ship, the Conquest, has a Tandoor but darn because we both enjoy Indian food.
I don't think it is. It is very moist. It is tough to get breast to be that moist. Thanks!

I have to agree. On my last cruise a few weeks ago we ate breakfast or brunch depending on port or sea day in the MDR almost every day. A lot of people don’t realize that it’s even an option and free when they first cruise.
By the way on your question for the 24/7 soft serve. They have frozen yogurt and soft serve ice cream chocolate, vanilla, twist, and sometimes they alternate the vanilla with strawberry.
I’m not sure which ships do this but on the Vista they had homemade ice cream for free in the afternoon on the Lido deck. More specialty flavors vary by day.

Vanilla soft serve is my favorite, thanks.
I think the MDR will be a viable breakfast option on most days. We only have one planned excursion our of 4 port days.
The MDR breakfast is 10 times better than the Lido deck buffet breakfast.Sent from my LG-LS993 using Forums mobile app
Neither one of us love buffets so we will be hitting the MDR.

You will love the Conquest!
So glad you think so! This will be the first of hopefully many more cruises for DH. He isn't convinced he's going to love it; I think otherwise.

First: 313 days!!!

Fantastic update!!! Can't wait to board the Conquest.

Here is a pic of the drink I was being poured all cruise.

$20.00 tip up front.
Captain Morgan
If by the pool he would put a splash of coke.
If I was going up to the balcony he would give me the can of coke and Captain on Ice.
So to answer your question NO :) !
I want this bartender; would eliminate my need for Cheers completely. ;)
