  1. Thank you so much. I just printed it and will make sure to take with us. How did you like Tribal? Anything you recommend?

They do take requests as far as preference of booze/beer/refreshments within reason (will up-charge if you want something really special). They took us to two snorkeling spots and while I'm not an avid snorkeler it was the best I've done... tons of fish, very brave turtles and stingrays that you could get within a few feet of.

Take sunblock... ride in the netting on the side of the boat if you like an adventure. Probably would suggest eating a decent breakfast as it will be a couple of hours before they break out the snacks. Bring some sort of zipped bag to keep your belongings, they will be put below deck and you don't want things spilling all over the place.

Follow the map... we had no map and DW was freaking out a little because it looked like we were walking to an abandoned industrial area. But we found it!

I might be able to pm or email you a larger version of that map. It shows up really small on here.

  2. I've emailed them, but haven't heard back yet. Do you know what the cost is for 3 and 5 hour sails?

    Thanks.

Pretty sure price was around ~$110 each for a 5 hour, we didn't have any special request (other than a suggestion for the type of vodka we preferred :D). Well worth it. Bring some extra for a tip.. you will want to tip these guys when it's all said and done they provided an awesome day and worked hard.

  3. Does anyone know how to get to Tribal? I rec'd an email from them and it says they pick up in Krum Bay. Any idea if that is walking distance from Havensight or how much a taxi would be?

Not walking distance from Havensight. It is walking distance from Crown bay. Apparently no one who lives there has a clue what Krum bay is.

After our adventure of finding it I made a map from Crown bay and shared it with Tribal so they could give it to future passengers.

  4. Not extra, luggage delivery is a standard service of the cruise. They also take your bags off the ship at the end if you like. The porters would not be unhappy if you gave them a few dollars as a tip.

Tip the porters! Through my own "hunch" investigation, every time I've tipped we receive our luggage immediately upon our room being ready. The few times I've tested my "hunch" and did not tip we were lucky to receive our luggage by 5pm or so.

Maybe coincidence but I will continue to throw them a few $$ for our bags. :)

  5. We booked a day pass at the Sheraton beach resort. Nice well kept pool with very comfortable loungers... bar and decent food. Only time I've been there and will probably do the same thing if we ever return there. We called ahead but it wasn't necessary as we hooked up with another couple who just paid their way when we arrived at the hotel.

  6. I think Riclop is being very biased. I did the liberty this month during Oklahoma and Texas Spring break. There were a lot of college students but absolutely none were disruptive in any way.

To OP, The stuff you see of college kids at the beach on spring break, a cruise will not be like that. Those kids sleep 20 people to a shack and pay $200 a person to be there. A SB cruise that costs easily over $1000 will not attract the craziness.

I was thinking either sarcasm or just joking... My wife and I began cruising for spring break while she was in grad school... we like to have fun but have never witnessed anything like Riclop has suggested. However, we do usually cruise with Princess, and for 7 nights so I would not have experience on the shorter "party" trips.

That being said... We did cruise out of Baltimore once on the Pride and there was a decent "spring break" crowd onboard but the crazy activity was limited to the club for the most part.

  7. We've been there 3 times and usually just spend the day walking through the downtown Charlotte Amalie area, grab lunch and a drink outside somewhere and enjoy the atmosphere. There is a little Dutch chocolate store tucked back in an alleyway that you must visit!

We will be heading there this week and we are booking a sail through Tribal Day Sails, they have awesome reviews and offer 3 1/2 hr, 5hr and full day sailings.

I know paradise point is a popular spot to check out. A lot of people take the trip over to St. Johns as well.

  8. 1.14 is terrible. As we are often in the Eurozone I regularly check the rate. We always buy ours from Thomas Exchange Global and I can't find anywhere to beat it. We go to one of their offices, but you can order online.

Anyway, the lowest it has been was 1.20. Today it is 1.27, so on the up.

I would take some Euros and a card with no foreign transaction fees. Halifax Clarity card is considered the best.

From what I remember, our Discover / Diners Club card was the best rate with only a $5 fee to withdraw euro from an ATM. Look into that.

  9. When we were there I felt the need to have a heightened sense of my surroundings... which is typical when I'm in an unfamiliar place. However, I grew up in a not so safe neighborhood so looking over my shoulder and anticipating target areas is something that comes natural. I never felt "unsafe" in Barcelona, actually we had a really good time exploring Las Ramblas, having dinner and a wine in the square later in the evening... I would go back and do it all again.

Maybe we were naive to the the supposed rampant petty crime? It didn't seem any different than walking around my own home city for the most part.

Have some Paella at Restaurante Ambos Mundos in Plaça Reial square. Our first taste of true Spanish food and we loved it.

  10. Don't blame you for skipping the MDR on the Regal because we had terrible SLOWWWWW service, after 1 1/2 hrs all they served us was the appetizer so we got up and went elsewhere and never returned.

Our assigned table for 2 on our honeymoon cruise we had a similar experience. Our server wasn't very friendly and service was pretty slow. We were changed to anytime dining and had a good experience the rest of the two weeks.

  11. When we were on the Regal we found ourselves hitting the HC a few nights either because we didn't like the main dining selection or in a rush to get to a show. And they have a taco bar, who doesn't love tacos? I also found out that they now serve Greek gyro style lamb off the spit... now I'll just have to find some pita and tzatziki sauce :p

  12. I liked the sideways cabin. I thought there was more room just easier to get around inside the cabin. But my husband didn't like it. He felt vulnerable, someone could walk right in and he'll be laying in bed. We had stayed in the regular inside rooms before and a balcony. Of course I like the balcony better but sometimes finances just does not allow it.

I'd have to agree with him. DW would order room service after a night out around 1am and I felt like I needed to hide under the sheets when she answered the door :p

  13. As others have said, if you can go without the physical activities that RCCL offers then you will enjoy Princess. DW and I are in our late 20's and while we did enjoy the pool games and such on our one and only RCCL cruise, we prefer the food and service on Princess. We enjoy the relaxation and making our own fun when we feel like it.

We don't have children and Princess certainly gives you a little more "peace and quite".... in my experience the children on board are young teenagers or older most of the time and typically well behaved.

Can't wait to do Alaska, maybe our 5 year anniversary. Have fun!
