  1. For those of us who cruise for the itinerary rather than the ship, missing planned ports is always disappointing. However, cruise contracts clearly state that the cruise line can change or cancel ports at any time and for any reason. That is the risk we all take when cruising and one that we have to accept can happen any time we step on board a ship. I don't think calling the cruise line will result in anything other than wasted time. They will just refer you back to the contract you agreed to when you booked. On the bright side, you now have a reason to book another cruise that hits the ports you missed.

This kind of response always makes my blood boil. It`s like-It`s OK, all will be fine.

No I`d be furious with NCL-We sailed that route a couple of years ago and Kotor was our favorite stop as well as the sail in and out-Very sorry that you missed it!

Did NCL know in advance-OF COURSE!!!

  2. Sure that this will get moved, but few look at the ports section and thought that while it`s here some may benefit Greatly.

Tip for all going to London-Get your London Pass and Oyster Card sent to you at home. Its a PIA to collect it in London and you waste valuable time (For us it was about 3/4 of one day!). The Oyster card works like a dream!!! The LP is a toss up on value, but great skipping the lines!

  3. ROME-Hands down! There is soooo much more to see and do in Rome-All the history, Vatican etc. Other than Familia Sagrada, Barcelona was just another Big city-Crowed. The best part was in Rome`s port city(which was extra easy to get to + we did take the free bus) getting on and off was so quick for such a big ship. We also participated in 3 different CC threads and met 3 different groups of peeps-which was kinda neat!

  4. Done it three times. Depends on the number of intl flights arriving at about the same time. Twice took about 1 hour, once about 20 minutes. Yes you get your bags 1st. Then back through security. Things are certainly getting a little tighter, which I suppose is a good thing. I was talking to a customs guy and he said they catch about 20 plus people a day and off to a holding cell they go/ he didn`t say what happened to them then... We`re going to London in September and am curious what we`re going to see coming back.

  5. I don`t think it`s possible to go wrong with anything-But do stay on the island. The most fun is getting lost after a couple glasses of vino! You`ll usually find your way home, but the ole iPhone`ll get you there. We stayed at the Hotel Scandinavia. Fabulous folks at desk, bent over backwards to help. On a great piazza, central to everything! Good free breakfast.

  6. It really is easy from the Termini train station and inexpensive. Pickpockets are all over Europe`s larger cities. I got pinched in Paris 4 years ago and vowed never again. I now use a wallet that hooks on my belt and tucks in on the inside of my shorts. It`s really not that inconvenient and I feel safe with passports, cash, CCs etc.

Also we bought small metal locks for carry-ons and suitcases, as we knew a couple, where the dirtbag pickpocket`s kids unzipped their bags and clothes, iPads, phones, etc. spilled out and of course were "collected".

A few lit`l hacks and we now worry much less and enjoy our trips more.

  7. It`s actually September 3rd out of Southampton. We have a great roll call if you want to drop by.

As to weather...who knows? I`ve spoken to a few Brits in our group and from previous cruzs. The averages are upper 70s F daytime and upper 50s F at night. Oslo is the real wildcard-Could be warm and upper 70s or............Love this iten! Should be fun!

  8. We have a chance to upgrade to a mini suite on deck 11. At first, I Yelled NO WAY, pool, exercise room etc. above on deck 12. However one cabin is under the hair salon/library. Being a light sleeper I usually prefer sandwich cabins (cabins above/cabins below) but it might be nice to have a little extra cabin/and bathroom space.

Does anybody have experience staying in this area. Specifically...Noise? Many thanks in advance!

  9. Unlike Carnival, there is no dedicated pizza stand. You have to find it in the buffet area. Quality-wise it is about the same, but much less selection.

Have lunch at O'sheehan's your 1st day-It`s a great bar-even has a bowling alley. Their Reubin sandwich is great! Wings and nachos are pretty good as well.

We are platinum CCL, but have come to enjoy the NCL product-2 reasons: free booze and the fish always swim towards the bow!

  10. 3 weeks ago on the Escape, we had the Merlot waiting in the room plus a case of water. While unpacking, our steward, knocked and handed me the sparkling wine. My TA has no clue why we got all this as it`s only our 3rd NCL cruz.

Funny thing, we and another couple traveling with us, had some time to kill at Miami International, so we decided to drink the wines instead of pitching them. The Merlot was ok, but when I went to pop the sparkling wine, the cap shot off with a very loud bang!!! Not something that you want to hear at a large airport!!! We figured that a police squad would be there in a flash, but luckily nothing happened! After a while we laughed ourselves silly.
