We are two seniors aged 82 and 84. We also booked the tour on your own Oia and Fira with cable car tickets. Three ships in port when we decided to go back. The line was beyond belief and we made the decision to walk down. It was hot, slippery, smelly and in some places, wet. My husband slipped early on but decided to continue even after reachy the donkey station. That was definitely not an option as far as he was concerned. We had sun lotion and water and took our time. We were not alone, many made this decision. With a sore ankle and determination, we made the trip down in about 45 careful minutes. We feel a certificate of completion was in order. We did it and have a tail to tell.
