  1. There are options other than through cruise lines. Allianz and Starr Companies work worldwide and have attractive policies at a reasonable cost. If you travel alot Starr even has an annual plan.

I found out about them after I booked cruises and will try them on next sailing.

    Hopefully, never needs it.

I did have to cancel a cruise due to death in the family. Glad I had the coverage!

  2. 9/11/2001 was a day in our history that was as atrocious as 12/07/1941. It is so sad so many innocent people lost their lives that day. We, as a planet, need to be able to accept each other as humans, and not let culture drive hate. Sorry if I am going down a different channel with this reply.

Anyhow, its great to see all these photos from a place where many nationalities and cultures work together to give people a great vacation. Maybe everyone should work on a cruise to get to know that we are all humans.

Thanks, seems a good portion of society has perhaps forgotten. I lost 4 in my family that day, one NYFD plus a lot of friends.

    Thanks for remembering!

  3. AWESOME! Wish I knew how to post pictures! Thanks for sharing everyone! (y)

I tried so many deal but found TapaTalk Pro work best for me . Most intuitive phot app, it even asks the size of the photo you want to post. Many forums restrict to a pretty tiny size but this app made it easy!

  4. I paid off the cruise already. I have not booked flights nor hotel yet.

I wonder how a pending sale will infulence the attitude of the crew?

I will hold for now. Next week onboard the Oasis i can check with our concierge on other sailings that month and maybe flip the reservation over.

We are kind of done with eastern Carribean and saw our next and Rhapsody as a change of scenery.

  5. Here is a more serious situation. Lets just say the OP was booked on a Trans Atlantic Cruise and had non refundable airfare to continue their flights Abroad with five nights booked at a hotel that is also non-refundable. Plus they have tours booked at all the ports not booked through Royal Caribbean.

My point is if you book the cruise early then you should not be bumped off. I can see if you book last minute under a special rate and you are a local you could potentially be bumped off but like airlines cruise ships want the business so they should work with the OP.

If I were bumped off a cruise the first thing I would ask for is to get the exact same itinerary or a better one in an upgraded cabin, the cost to stay at the port until the next ship departs, the cost to change my airfare and compensate me for lost days at work.

Then I would ask for my meals to be covered at the port city waiting for the next cruise plus any other incidentals like transportation. I would ask for at least 3 $500 AMEX or Visa Gift Cards or a check that I can deposit right away.

I do understand that Royal Caribbean can overbook a cruise but has to let the customer know in advance and be prepared to negotiate. Once the Final Payment has been processed you have entered into a contract. Its not fair that the passenger would lose part of the fare if they cancel during the Cancellation Period and has Travel Insurance but won't cover everything but Royal can just overbook the cruise ad tell the passenger so sad too bad.

What if this family cannot afford a vacation and saved up a lot of money and drove for even 4 hours to reach the port? What if the family flew in would they now have to fly home?

What if the passenger showed up at the port and tried to force their way on showing they have a valid booking? I mean if I were in the OP's shoes I would still show up at the port and ask to be taken care of.

I don't take no for an answer and would find the right person to take charge even if it means showing up at the pier at 5 AM I would just to get what I paid for.

If is a contract of adhesion.

    They are foreign flagged.

    Subject to Martitime law.

So, unless you were a significant customer with clout, what they do is up to them.

  6. Great news! We got a room! Its on Deck 8 and not obstructed. God is good!

I didn't really hear the details about the $400 onboard credit because my mind was about to explode.

I just called and asked if they were able to assign us a room yet and she said yes.

Glad I stood my ground and said no.

They definitely need to fix this though.

Thanks for your comments and support. :D

Awesome! We were pulling for you!

I wonder if they stranded any of the 14 others they overbooked?

    Have a great cruise!

  7. After reading this thread I would never take a guarantee gamble if I had to travel far to port.

Airfare, hotel, parking all at risk if you do get bumped and cannot take any other option at the time.

I know for some it is a budget issue. I would rather hold off and save for when I can book a cabin sans the "guarantee" carrot.

We pay it off very far in advance as we dont like bills hanging around. Our next two are paid off so it done and over with.

If you book a guarantee and then decide not to take the risk of being located somewhere less ideal or not get on the ship at all, could you just pay the difference at some point in advance and turn your "guarantee" into a hard and fixed confirmation?

  8. Nice features we will enjoy but we dock so early when the cruise is over:loudcry:

How long before we have to face the dreadful march off the ship for our cruise this month.

  9. I think Gift Certificates are a pain no matter what the brand.

Folks can buy AmEx or Visa cards in lieu of a specific retailer.

The Amex or Visa prepaid cards less restrictive.

Of course gettung one as a gift, you are stuck with that person's good intentions.

Just more folks need to know about the AmEx/Visa options i reckon.

You can buy those cards in drug stores around me i.e.

  10. What ships will get the axe will depend on the overall ROI of the business of running a ship. Lower fuel costs now is significant but could get unbalanced if they rise too high/too fast as it relates to the engine efficency. More people packed on a larger ship with newer engines and technology may make the delta on the ROI too big to ignore older ships vs. newer. "Progress" meets resistance initally but porgress wins over time.

  11. AMEN~ I wish they would just get rid of the not very majestic Majesty. It's such an inferior ship to all the other RCI ships with no specialty restaurants, no CL or DL, no solarium. Just stupid to get rid of the Rhapsody and keep the out dated Majesty.

Maybe is it wahat they think they can sell in a lower tier marker vs. just selling a a breaker for scrap?

  12. At the very least, they will give you the option for a full refund. Additionally, they could give you some choices of similar sailings (if there are any) on other ships at the same price you had on Rhapsody. They would also throw in some OBC if you chose one of the other sailings.

I wonder at what date ROS will leave the RCL fleet. We are going on a very large ship this month but our first cruise was EOS and that seemed large enough for us. I hope OOS is not too big!

  13. Once on Indy, while enjoying our suite loungers on the pool deck (first time in a suite), an older woman looked at us shortly after claiming our spot and said "these chairs are reserved for suite guests" I told her I was aware. She asked to see my seapass, so instead of speaking my mind I ignored her. She then left to talk to a pool deck employee who immediately came up to us and asked to see our seapass. I showed him and all was well. He then asked the woman who raised the fuss to check her card also and she said" I left mine in the cabin". The staff member asked her what cabin she was in so he could verify the information. She and her husband left in a huff. I smiled and told her to have a nice day. We never saw them in the suite loungers for the remainder of the cruise.

    Justice!:')
