  1. Whether or not the towel accounting system is accurate is not the question. You weren't charged because the system showed you didn't have any towels but don't think for a minute you wouldn't be charged if the system showed you didn't return them all.

Yes~ my point exactly. Apparently your card was not scanned when you got the towels. I would be extremely diligent in making sure you are on top of where your towels are and make sure you return them and watch them scan your card when you return them.

  2. Reading some posts about people leaving towels on chairs. We have sailed RC before and know the towel on your sea pass drill. Do they really charge if they don't have equal numbers of towels in as out on the same room? I wouldn't want to leave a towel on a chair unattended for hours at risk of being charged for the towel should someone move it, or even take it and turn it in as their own because they misplaced theirs.

I realize it was quite some time ago since we last cruised back in '09 so maybe someone more recent can give their experience but YES to your question. We were charged over $60 for towels not returned when in fact we HAD returned them. Got $40 credited back but they would not take off the last 20. So just be very careful about this and make sure you get a receipt of some kind showing you did return them or watch them scan your card when you return them.

  3. Thank you I wondered how it worked:) Definitely want to miss the very long first night in the MDR[emoji106]

Hi there my friend from our 4/30 thread...just keep in mind the specialty restaurants can be long too. They take their time in between courses and for us that never really bothered us. But hopefully for you it won't be an issue and they will have you in and out in a nice time frame. We never eat in a specialty restaurant the 1st night mainly due to the long day and the fact we can't count on our luggage being there in time for dinner- but it is a great draw for alot of people. :)

  4. Wow I can't believe what you went through. When you are spending the money it costs for the Star Class there is certainly a level of expectations to go with it and so far it seems pretty disappointing.

On a plus, I just saw the news and it seems you may be in record high for weather when we are getting crappy 15 cm of snow with freezing mix.

Please do continue as I am sitting on the edge of me seat with the kleenex box beside me as I got the darn winter cold.

I have to agree with this also.....even though we will never be able to experience a star class suite/experience due to cost, when one spends that much money certain expectations should be met. I can't believe how you were able to hold your tongue. My husband would have totally gone off and asked to speak with a supervisor. But, as you say you get far more being sweet than being sour. Still I would have been as upset as you. I know it all turned out in the end but anxious to hear the rest of your story and hope this is a learning experience of what NOT to ever do to a guest again in a similar situation. I am so very sorry you went through all that.

  5. Do they still charge you for towels if you don't turn them in?? We are bring some extra large towels to take with us when we head off the ship to some of the beaches. But at the pool will stick with the ones they provide. Once they charged us for a towel that was not returned when I know for a fact we had - could not get the charge removed.

  6. We always have the drink package so I can't be a lot of help on prices of drinks but can tell you that drinks like vodka & tonic, gin & tonic, rum & coke, pina colada's, margarita's and on and on are covered by the Classic package.

For the most part the difference between the Classic & Premium package is the brand of alcohol the drink is made with. A vodka & tonic made with Absolute, Stolichnaya or Smirnoff is covered by the Classic package. I you want it made with Ketel One, Grey Goose or Belevedere then it is outside of the Classic package limits. Those alcohols are on the Premium package.

If you go to the Celebrity Site and look at the beverage packages or do a search here you can find a list of the the brands of alcohol covered by the packages and also the beers.

Ok so I know my hubby prefers Ketel One- do they just charge you the difference? And can we upgrade to the premium package from the classic with just difference in cost per day? I know it seems like from what you've stated we will need to do this. Thanks.

  7. We have opted for the beverage package this time as one of our free perks and it allows up to $8 per drink- and $6 for beer- I was wondering if you all could give the approximate cost on board of say a vodka/tonic and drink of day on deck- and beer if Celebrity has this?? We have never sailed with Celebrity before so I am just wondering what the average cost for a drink is?? Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks.

  8. Café was included. Food was nice in appearance, but a bit lacking in flavor. Sanctuary is extra cost but WELL worth it. Real comfy loungers are for use at about $20 a half day. Do check where it's located. We don't like too much sun, so it was a bit of sampling. The staff can move them a bit if necessary. At $40/pp/per day, I thought that was a bargain. They bring nice healthy snacks at lunch & a nice tea service in the mid afternoon. You can get an IPod for music of your choice. You do need to make reservations quickly as it fills up real quickly. Since you've cruised other lines..what's extra on them will likely be what's extra on Princess. If Princess has one true stand out, it was the staff. The nicest & most caring of any line we've been on.

I am quite sure the Sanctuary is quite nice and quiet but for us- we can't justify spending any extra money for those extra's. There is a pool for adults there- The Retreat pool and this will be just fine for us and serve us quite nicely. I know that as long as there are those willing to spend the extra bucks for a service like this, they will continue to exist, but honestly we are very simple people and are not extravagant by any means. To us this is just another way the cruise lines can get more money out of people. We are simply not willing to accommodate them in this regard. But to each their own. This isn't just Princess but there are others that have this on their ships as well. That being said, we are VERY much looking forward to this cruise and anxious to check Princess out as well as what they offer. Thanks so much to all who responded. It is much appreciated.

  9. My goodness...thank you all so much for the awesome feedback and replies. They are so much appreciated. I think I have a better handle on everything now. What was your overall impression of this princess ship and when was her last drydock. Are the areas kept updated from that perspective. I know RCCL does an excellent job at upkeep on all their ships just wondering about Princess. I know we will be very happy as we are very easy going and easy to please. Thanks so much again for all the great feedback!!

also.. how much does it cost for the cabana's at the Retreat pool for the day and how do you go about renting one for the day?

  10. Food in the IC is "free". Drinks are not. If you like lattes, etc. buy a coffee card.

Soft serve ice cream at Scoops is free, shakes & malts cost $2.50. Also, on ships that have gelato in the IC, there is a charge ($3.00 for 3 scoops?), but it's included with a coffee card or one of the drinks stickers (not sure which one, never bought one).

Some of the craft classes (if offered) have a charge.

Some exercise classes in the Fitness Center have a charge.

    The Sanctuary costs $$

Beauty Salon, shops, bingo, casino, photos, "art" auction, internet...ditto.

You can literally take a cruise and not spend an additional penny. We did that our first couple of cruises.

Thanks very much for the reply. Are there any adult only pools one can access during the day that you don't have to pay extra for? Thanks so much.
