Well, the simple answer is that "deposits are cheap and refundable, prices often go up and rooms often book up."  My counter question is "why not??"

If you want to tie up money on multiple cruises with deposits then by all means do it.  And NCL has your money.  Like the cruise next program.  Just not my style.  But I do purchase cruise next because I know I will cruise NCL again.  Two max in case I book a balcony.  I'm a shot from the hip person.  Not loyal to any cruise line.  Already looking past Panama Canal.  Lots of cruises on the west coast.

Guess it depends on where you are looking! But since I have multiple cruises booked, very little waiting to cruise. Just reduced a May cruise in Alaska by over $1k because they lowered the supplement (ov only).

I never have understood "multiple cruises booked".  That is one long waited appointment.  And then someone to say they have three or four in the next two years.   WHY!   You can only take one cruise at a time.  My next cruise is December 2 on the Bliss.  I rarely book more than a month out.  I have never made a final payment because I pay full the day I book.  Your May cruise is still six months out.  And then you wait on another planned cruise.  I plan on doing at least three more cruises before May and then Alaska again.  I did five weeks in Alaska last season on three different cruise lines.   I was on the Sun when the ship hit the iceberg entering Hubbard Glacier.  Using that FCC on the Bliss through the Panama Canal.

But still all my cruises cost me money.  Cruising is an expensive hobby if you cruise more than four times a year.   I'm glad I have the time, finances and no kids or pets (they need attention when you are gone too) at home to come and go as I please.   I am addicted to cruising.

Good to know you saved $1K.

  3. Why did you choose NCL?  And then the Prima.  New ship and not much info.  All depends on your interest.   Shows, tours, dining, comedians, line dancing, lions , tigers and bears OH MY.   Do you like to make reservations or are you a shoot from the hip person?  I myself tend to change my mind and do not like to be tied down with appointments.  And if you wait for the end of the cruise for that special dinner, well you may be to full to enjoy it.  My suggestion is do what you did for enjoyment on CCL.  All cruises are the same but with a little difference.  njsmom,  you have asked many questions on the NCL form.  Hope you are getting the answers you need to cruise NCL

Hopefully, you're not suggesting that somebody who pays twice as much for their cruise has twice as much fun as the peasant in steerage (i.e. @ChiefMateJRK)  That would just be plain crazy talk.  I have just as much fun as anyone on the ship and I can PROVE IT!! 🤣

(I also have reason to believe that I have a lot more fun on CC than many)

No   I am not suggesting but you just did.  Why did you think this?  And why "hopefully"?  Taking my 11th cruise since the restart next month on the Bliss to the Panama Canal.  Cruises cost money.  They are not cheap.  But there are ways to minimize costs.  And I can have just as much fun as you.  I can PROVE IT.........Not

Well, maybe I am but indirectly. If you want to smoke, have at it, and I (hopefully obviously) don’t care that the ship has a designated place for that. If they want to allow smoking in the casino, that’s totally fine with me, I just won’t go in there, but it’s frustrating that even walking to the shops or enjoying a trivia game means I have to smell it. So while I’m not complaining about passengers’ being allowed to smoke in the casino, I’m complaining about the fact that there’s no containment whatsoever so the rest of us who don’t want to be around smoke are subjected to it.

    The truth comes out.

NCL is losing money by allowing this.

    Smokers make up the difference.

Probably 15-20 feet.  Which I've found on many of the ship to improve performance by about 50% with a poor signal strength.   It also allows one to select a different channel that is not as busy.  I usually bring a wifi extender  and  place is directly on the wall as the door  closest to the direction of the hallway router.

I learn something every day.  I'm not that tech savvy but a gadget geek.   I always bring my Sirius Stiletto portable on every cruise.  Thanks
