  1. We booked our flights as a package with Princess, Plane Sailing I think they call it for us in the UK.  I can request seats through the cruise personalizer (for the long haul element, not the local connecting flight) but they are not guaranteed - does anyone in the UK have experience of using this and did you get the seats requested?

Hi Colville2002 - on our 2 week B2B on the Seaside - our all inclusive photo package T&Cs says

"THE PACKAGE IS AVAILABLE FOR THE ENTIRE DURATION OF YOUR CRUISE INCLUDING BACK-TO-BACK SAILING AND DOES NOT INCLUDE WEDDING AND PRIVATE PHOTO SESSIONS."

    Cheers...

Thanks Toinoi - is that the MSC Seaside though?  I am asking about the package on Princess ships

The AA website is where the flight is showing now changed to departing at 6:30 a.m. and Princess still shows us leaving on that same flight at 11:50 a.m. Great tips from this board have made me check both sites frequently for changes. Clearly we can't make a flight that leaves before we're scheduled to arrive in port. Thanks to all that replied, I'll be prepared tomorrow with alternatives so we can make this work! Hopefully they'll also let me make the necessary changes to mom's flight too since we're all travelling together. She's close to 80 and easily confused so it would be awful if she ended up on another flight!

Fairly common for the airline or EZ Air to stick you on a different flight - are you sure that this is the same flight number? If the airline moves you more than an hour you can get a different flight at no additional cost (find flights that will work before you call). You might call the airline today and see if they will fix the problem.

Not sure if the UK EZAir is different but we had this happen to us recently (flight changes were over an hour and all four flights changed) but the flights we were changed to weren't impossible to make, just not at the times we wished (and with shorter transfer times in Heathrow than the travel agent originally recommended, to the point of her having to read a statement about it and confirm my agreement to said statement).  We got our travel agent to call Princess and they wanted to charge us the difference in the flight costs between our original booking price and the flights we wanted to change to, even though the flights we had been changed to were currently the same price as the ones we wanted.

Our agent also wanted £50 per person admin fee for making the change (we didn't get our usual agent who I think would have waived that) but this meant we were going to be charged around £400 to change to flights more in keeping with our original booking.  Should we have been able to change to acceptable flights through EZAir with no charge given what you say?

  4. It took over 4 weeks for our confirmation to come through for a one night stay in December 2018 recently (booked on 7 or 8 May, confirmation early June) - by that point I had emailed Hyatt Place directly (email from their Facebook page) and got the confirmation that way

  5. Yeah, we've been told the minimum age for the top bunk is 6 so one of us will be up there.

Should have been booked last night but troubles with the Princess flight booking system, still showing the flights we want but every time the agent tries to complete the booking the flights change to something else. Hopefully they can sort it with Princess this morning and we have another holiday to look forward to

  6. The interior cabins on the Regal can be configured for 4 passengers. Regardless if there are 3 or 4 persons in the room, the configuration is twin beds on the floor and the third or fourth bed from the ceiling. I believe that you can't have a queen and a third bed at the same time. Only twin beds with the third or fourth. The upper berths have guard rails. I think if you go the Princess website and do a Plan a Cruise, go to the voyage you are considering and go through the steps to pick a cabin and the images shown and verbiage indicate twin beds with upper berths.

Additionally, there isn't room for a sofa bed. Hardly enough room to turn around with more than 2 persons in the cabin at the same time.

Thanks Grego, I thought that was the case but just wanted to check. Looks like we're going ahead with the booking but the travel agent believes the minimum age for the top bunk is 6 years old, so our son will have to sleep in one of the lower beds and one of us up above

  7. We're considering a B2B on the Regal in December, we have a few cruises on Princess but this will be the first with our son (4 at the time of the cruise, will be his fourth cruise in total). It appears that all the inside cabins available can only be set up as twin beds and an upper bed - does anyone know if there are any inside cabins on the Regal where it is possible to have the queen set up and an upper? I'm guessing no inside cabins with a sofa bed?

Does anyone know if Princess can provide a bed guard for the upper bunk for when it's younger children or have any experience of younger children in the upper bunks?

  8. Just by way of update, they offered £300 in the end - this is apparently based on the depreciated value of my damaged luggage to reflect the fact it was used and not brand new. I'm still not happy but have accepted the compensation so that things are dealt with.

They also weren't useful with obtaining another of the photo portfolios of the ship that we received with our photo package or copies of the compasses from the trip which were also in the case. Two other places to contact for those

  9. Were there others lined up with you at the pier with soaked luggage?

Biker, who wonders if this was an isolated bag or did the port workers dump a full cart into the water.

As far as I'm aware, mine was the only case. Apparently it bounced on the netting and still went in the water

  10. your belief can easily be wrong, you know. most people in the CS office are not going to know off hand that there are different regs for different nationalities. the default is the US contract and that is the one they will see at their end and may not even realize the UK one is different, let alone how to find any of said differences.

I have acknowledged that now but I don't think it is unreasonable to expect the UK customer service team, who have full access to my booking details and clarified my details each time I called would know that the relevant booking terms were the UK ones. If they don't, I'd lay the blame on the employer for not providing proper training.

  11. Paragraph 3b is not applicable in your case; I erroneously referenced the US contract without realizing the Indepence was cruising in Europe at the time.

I must have missed your noting of completing a report upon discovery of the damage; I only saw you saying you sent the report the next day.

Sorry, the original post was not clear. I completed the report on the pier when they handed me the sodden luggage. I still then had to email a copy to Customer Services even though the agent on the pier kept copies - I would have thought a copy would be forwarded internally but apparently not.
