1992 Sovereign was our first and second. We also cruised on Majesty a couple of times.  I digress, but back then they also published a guest list booklet with the passengers names and towns they were from for a given itinerary.

Nordic Empress was our first. Got me hooked! Went from Sovereign to Majesty to Monarch etc etc. It's been a lot of fun, and I sure do love the perks!

And there was a time pre-beverage packages when there were very few restrictions.  I  recall one cruise years ago out of Puerto Rico in particular where our cab driver stopped at a store en route from the airport to the cruise terminal so I could buy a case of beer, which we carried on with us.  They then restricted all beverages.  Then it was hit or miss on water and soda.

When the beverage packages commenced, they wanted all in the stateroom to buy it. They also at one point then allowed for single purchases, but that reverted back to all rather quickly.  Then the wine was allowed. At times with or without a corkage fee.

It has been an interesting evolution regarding what and how much can and cannot be brought on board over our 32 year cruising history with RCCL!  Making sense of fair or not fair just adds to the confusion.

Back in the early 90's, when we cruised the Sovereign quite a few times, they would allow you to buy a bottle in one of the shops, pay a 10% upcharge, then you could take to the room. I remember getting OJ delivered to the room then sat at the pool all day drinking Screwdrivers. I'm probably one of the reasons they stopped doing that. Lol!

I've redeemed some points for onboard credit about two weeks ago and they still aren't showing in my cruise planner.  Does anyone know how long it takes to show up?  TIA

Just redeemed 40k points for our cruise in November. Got the updated "invoice" the same day and funds added to cruise planner two days later. Already used some for embarkation lunch. I feel I was lucky this time, normally not available that fast. I've called RCCL before with my BOA receipt in hand and asked nicely for them to make it available sooner than later. Sometimes it works, sometimes I still have to wait.

Is it normal for the invoice to show a balance on a comped cruise, I don't think I had one like this before, its showing the full cost of the cruise and the taxes I paid as a deposit

That has never happened to us, and we've taken over twenty comped cruises.

We are a group of 11 (9 adults, 2 toddlers).  Are you all requesting specific table locations and/or being seated together? Haven't cruised in 5 years and only my second time on RC so I kind of feel like a rookie again!  Thanks for your help!

There are three of us, so I usual request a four top by the window.

  6. I sent my request in three weeks ago, got the standard auto response, then got this yesterday, a week from our cruise.

Thank you for contacting the Royal Dining Department. Your request has been forwarded to the ship for processing. Your table assignment will be on your Seapass card. We look forward to welcoming you onboard!

    Thank you and kindest regards,
    Royal Caribbean Dining Administration

We use ear plugs and also have a white noise machine 👍🏻

Unfortunately still can hear the magnetic bathroom doors clunking

if only for that the cabin would be perfect

We leave ours open, but appreciate not everyone will

The ones on Ascent have a very nice night light under sink so no need to have door closed .

1st world problems we know 😎

Our cabin steward set up our bathroom door with a towel. No banging. 🙂

Literally never saw anyone hit a Major.  Not even playing free slots on my phone.

It's nice to know it actually happens (however rare).

Hit the Major on the Wonder this past October. This is with a $1.76 bet.

We both have classic casino tier levels. Never spent a penny in the casino. The only time we go in the casino is to use our free CAS spins.

Which level is "Classic"? I've only heard of Choice, Prime, Signature and Master. We're Prime working on Signature next week on Allure.

Good going, nice bragging. Again, it is your money, you can do whatever you want. Let the six other folk you have noticed in this thread do whatever they want with theirs.

Not bragging, was asked if I did anything with Charity. Yes, agree, people do whatever they want with their money. Thanks again. Enjoy your day.

Wait, my bad, you were talking about the above and beyond tipping. Not really bragging, it's just I've been blessed and want to share with others. No harm there, but, I'm not going to try and convince anyone to do what I do, just enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Cool?

  11. Yes, after rereading the posts, around six folks are considering removing the auto grats, but, how many "silent" folks, like me (until now, ha) will continue to leave the auto grats in place AND tip above and beyond the auto grats? Like I've stated on many of these tipping threads, I've collected quite a bit of singles when the cruise industry was shut down and I plan on giving those out to the crew members who didn't have an income during that time. Lastly, as I've stated before, I can't take it with me, and my son already has more money than me, so I'll take care of the crew that takes care of me.
