  1. We love Sunset Verandas and you can't beat Summits.  They are very spacious....practically as big as the interior of the cabin.  Having said that, I would choose Equinox.  Our last 3 cruises have been on Summit and I'm starting to find her kinda boring.  Not that I need nonstop activity.   I do like to walk and explore the ship and there's just not enough to see anymore on Summit.  I also really like World Class Bar and more restaurant options on Equinox.

  2. I also just got off the Summit this am.  On the whole, enjoyed the cruise, but one of the biggest issues I had was the lack of drink selection.  I have 2 main drinks of choice.  Tanqueray Gin and pretty much any Sav Blanc from New Zealand,  I couldn’t find either one anywhere on this cruise.  We upgraded as soon as we got on the ship but soon started to question whether it was worth it.  I always have an Aperol Spritz at lunch, and they ran out of Aperol on like day 8 I think.  Yesterday I ordered one if the MDR for lunch just to see, figuring they would come back and tell me they were out.  NOPE they brought one, but made it with Campari…thinking I wouldn’t taste the difference?   Or notice the slightly more red in color?  It’s more of the deception that bothers me…..just be honest.

  3. I'm on the June 2 sailing.  I'm fine with the $40  ETA.  I think it's going to be here for a while.  Bermuda has been ultra conservative when it comes to COVID protocols.  Understandable given there's one hospital for the whole island supposedly.  I personally think it's a little too strict given that very few vaccinated people are getting really sick, but it's not my call.  And let's be honest, it doesn't cost $40 to process each one, so there is some money to be made here.

I"m more concerned about a possible itinerary change, becoming a 3rd ship in Bermuda that needs to tender.  I have electric vehicle booked which I'll lose because I doubt it will be available on the changed dates should that happen.  I guess we'll have to make it work if that's the case.

If the itinerary stays the same, there's also potential problems with the requirement for another test onboard before we get to Bermuda.  Is there a chance that a decent number of passengers could test positive and Bermuda decides to not let us dock?    that would really suck.

  4. We've rented a Tazzari for 2 of the 3 days in Bermuda.  We pick it up at the Dockyard location.  I was wondering since we pick it up there, is there a guaranteed parking/charging spot there?  Or do others that rent from other locations park and charge there overnight?

  5. We've been on several Celebrity cruises and always meet a nice group of gays.  We often keep in touch with some of them.  One couple we met 9 years ago on a Mediterranean cruise, and we meet up a couple of times a year.  (not on cruises).  The last few cruises we've done had LGBTQ+ meetings every night at around 8pm at the Martini Bar.   We'd go before dinner since we had 8:30 sitting and then often arrange to meet up at other times, go to a show.  It's fun.

  6. We always try to book a SV.  The last 5 celebrity cruises we've taken have all been SV and we love it.  Don't think about it for too long.  They are a coveted cabin on all ships but especially on the Edge class since they have a real standard balcony which many people (myself included) prefer.  There are very few standard balconies on Edge class ships so they book up fairly quickly.

  7. I thought I’d resurrect this thread as POA is restarting very soon.  Does anyone know if the closest rental car offices (Enterprise and Hertz) used to be open Sundays?  If so I wonder if they’ll start to open again given the ship will be docked there every Sunday now.  If not, any updated info on rental car shuttles etc. Perhaps the restart of POA justifies a new thread, but we’ll see how this goes.

Beautiful cabin, large balcony, some  noise from Sunset Bar at Sail Away time but not unpleasant. Shade or sun depending on ship direction.

Just booked this cabin on the Summit for June 2 to Bermuda.  This will be our third cruise on the summit in one of these aft cabins with extra large balconies.  The first two times these were C1 cabins.  Now they are SV.  Did anyone else notice the change?  I wonder why.  The only thing that bothers me  (it's not like the price is lower) is on a 10 day cruise, I'll be getting 20 less points.  🙂

  9. We always book aft cabins if we can get them for the same reasons already stated above.  They are getting more difficult to book especially on the Edge class ships most likely due to them being the few cabins with real balconies.

  10. I wish I was there!!  I’m curious if there’s anything at all different with Apex compared to Edge.  I feel like they are practically identical (I imagine the artwork is probably different) but would be interested to hear any differences you notice throughout your cruise.

Good info.  Thanks.  Having just booked the Edge, one of the questions I have is what it’s like going to the restaurants….MDR or Speicialty. I know on my NCL cruises, I would walk up to any dining venue, and if they could, they’d seat me immediately.  If they couldn’t, I would just go to another venue.  Is it that easy on Celebrity?

I’ve had good WiFi on NCL on some cruises, and I’ve had dismal WiFi on some…..sometimes depending on the time of day and where I was on the ship.  While it’s not a deal breaker for me, many times I’ll use my iPad to look at activities available to me on a port as a planning tool while on board.   How is streaming on the Edge?

    Thanks in advance!

In theory, yes you can just show up and if they can seat you, they will…..especially in the main dining rooms.  Having said that, reservations are encouraged if you want to try the other dining rooms and its fairly easy to do on the app if I recall.  (I sailed on Edge July 2019 so it’s been a while).   For specialty restaurants I would definitely make reservations.  Eden in particular as it booked up quickly and has limited seating.  We could only get a late reservation at the steakhouse and thought we’d try to go earlier just to see.   We showed up an hour early and they sat us immediately,   I have no idea how Luminae works.  I assume it has the traditional dining times as well as select?

  12. There really is a happy medium between some discomfort of feeling out of place and discomfort of “dressing up”.  It doesn’t take a lot of effort AND women have it sooo much easier than men.  Bare legs, bare shoulders, toes exposed…..all acceptable.  I think people on this thread have given some good advice and ultimately the only thing that matters is that you have a good time,

  13. I like both NCL and Celebrity, but if I had to be loyal to just one, I’d pick Celebrity.  Better food, less kids, nicer cabins and an elevated level of sophistication from decor to clientele.  I really despise formal wear, and agree that while on vacation, comfort is everything.  With that said, you’re outfit in the first picture is inappropriate for any kind of fine dining experience, but to me also looks incredibly uncomfortable for warm weather cruising.  Jeans aren’t the issue.  A nice cotton/linen top does wonders for comfort and style without compromising you doing you.

Agree that NCL’s entertainment is far superior, but I don’t cruise for the live shows.  I live in NYC and have the best live entertainment around (once they open). I still enjoy the shows on Celebrity but don’t need to see them.  I’d make more of an effort to see them on NCL.

You scored a sunset verandah.  Don’t let it go.  They are hard to get given the preference by many (me included) for true balconies and aft views.  That’s where I was on the Edge and loved it.  It’s a beautiful ship and can’t wait to cruise on the Edge class again.

  14. My favorite cabins (SV) sold out yesterday on the main itinerary I wanted.  People seem to be booking the Beyond,.  I’m kinda bummed.  I’ll keep checking as I know some people may cancel.  On another note,  Beyond looks amazing, but does anyone else feel a little bad for Apex?  She’s the middle child who’s younger sister is getting more attention before anyone has even been able to experience her.

  15. If it was a cruise to nowhere in the Caribbean, I'd do it in a heartbeat.  I've seen most of the islands and while I can't wait to go back, 7 days at sea sounds lovely to me.  As for kids, one thing I love about X is it's reduced appeal for young kids.  I can't imagine taking young kids on a X cruise to nowhere.  I think they'd get bored.   There are plenty of more "kid friendly" cruise lines to take them. So yes, fully vaccinated should mean fully vaccinated.  Even more reason to keep the kids away for a while.

  16. I was in a SV cabin on deck 9.  I went back and looked at my picures and I surprisingly didn't take a photo of the balcony.  I always do.  Anyways, I think you will be very happy with the cabin.  Be thankful that you have one booked as they are in high demand on the Edge and Apex given they have true balconies which are in short supply on these ships.   I personally loved the Edge and can't wait to go on her or Apex again.....in a SV cabin.

  17. The show is kinda silly, although I do think it has some potential. It was sort of interactive with a weird tribelike feel.   Some of them reminded me of Game of Thrones.    I sailed in July 2019 and the lunch area didn't open all week.  I'm not really sure why,  Having said that, Eden was one of our favorite places on the ship.  We found it quiet in the day, a relaxing place to sit with a drink and stare out to sea.  Dinner there was also one of our favorite meals on the trip....perhaps of any cruise we've been on.  I believe it was a $60 cover so it should be good.   Can't wait to go back someday.
