  1. Thank you I may call for a switch! Does anyone know if it is still possible to receive a Royal Up bid after a GTY cabin assignment?
  2. It’s me again….son and I are going on Symphony of the Seas May 10-13th. We received our cabin assignment today 14211 preferred an OV so I did 2 Royal Up bids! If you are familiar with this cabin can you share? Also can your Royal Up bid be accepted after cabin assignment? Is it possible to call RCCL and ask for a change within same category as I heard deck 14 is very loud? Thank you!
  3. Thanks everyone I realize food is very subjective and we truly enjoy all types of cuisine! I have looked at all the menus, but have not dined in RCCL specialty restaurants and that is why I needed some advice! It has been 12 years since we sailed on RCCL ( please don’t flame me for saying this) but the food offered in the dining rooms bordered on inedible to unappetizing. It is one of the main reasons we left the cruise line. Thanks again for your thoughts!
  4. Hello, My college son and I will be on Symphony of the Seas May 10-13th; I am considering a specialty dining venue one night because our dining time conflicts with a showtime. The choices are Chops $54.99 p/p, Jaimie O. $45.99 p/p, or Izumi $33.99 p/p. These prices are slightly cheaper today so I would prefer to book now. In your opinion which is the best option based on ambience, food, and price? We have the opportunity to sample these cuisines so curious to your opinion on these specialty restaurants on this ship! Thank you for any insight you can provide!
  5. Hello, We will be on the 3 day May 10th Symphony sailing. I am considering buying the Chops dining package for $54 p/p for 2 adults; is this a good price? Also the coffee card is $31 and covers 15 beverages and does not have to be assigned to everyone in stateroom; can you confirm? Is it possible to get 2 specialty coffees in morning? Thanks for any input!
  6. Hello, My son and I are booked on this short 3 day cruise. I was able to book Hairspray and HIRO. However, someone on our roll call mentioned there would be no shows on this cruise! Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks!
  7. I booked Symphony! We are so excited! Any tips and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
  8. Thank you we sailed on Allure over 10 years ago twice so I would like to try another ship! I tried to put a hold on a cabin, but it didn’t allow before payment. Any insights? Disney will allow a 24 hour hold prior to payment. I was a part time travel agent eons ago so I generally do my own bookings.
  9. Thanks everyone for your informative replies! It really is a “ no-brainer” with a 20 year old! It’s been at least 12 years since we did a RCCL cruise so he doesn’t remember much from the Oasis class….I think he will have a blast. I can escape to the adult areas for some peace and quiet!
  10. Hello, My son and I are considering a 3 day cruise in early May after he gets home from college and begins his summer job. I have narrowed the search down to 3 options in order of preference. Symphony 3 day from FLL, Allure 3 day from PC, AND Celebrity Reflection. My questions are primarily if you have sailed on both lines; will Celebrity be too sedate for him? Also will the RCCL cruises be too “wild” for me? Also I like the fact that Symphony has been refurbished, but Celebrity is cheaper! Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! I am going to book today because the Symphony sailing increased by $300 yesterday! Ouch!
  11. We used Sorrento Limo last week for a driver out of Naples to the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. Our driver was excellent, Michel, he did mention they are a small company. Their prices were extremely reasonable too!
  12. Thank you for these updates! We are leaving from B’ham, AL on Thursday to board on the Dream Saturday and these are so informative!
  13. Thank you for the info you provided it has been most helpful!
  14. My son is a young adult (20) also we have a house at the beach so really more interested in villages not located on the water. Is it relatively easy to get a taxi from La Seyne-sur-Mer, Bandol, Hyeres, La Castellet?
  15. Thank you! That is exactly the tour I was considering on the cruise…it has sold out, but would prefer to DIY! There are so many towns/villages to consider I’m overwhelmed by the choices. I did not particularly want to do a seaside town b/c we have visited Marseille previously.
  16. Thank you I think we will lean toward going to a smaller village that is closer! We have been to Marseille……
  17. Thank you for this info! I am following along on the protests b/c we will be in Paris after our cruise. We have the option to go to Hyeres more directly, but in your opinion is Aix a “not to be missed” destination when in the area?
  18. Hello, We will be on the Disney Dream arriving in Toulon Sunday, May 21st. We would prefer to take a train to Aix to explore, but I am having a hard time determining train schedule! Has anyone gone to the surrounding areas via train and can you provide some insight regarding your specific experiences? Thank you!
  19. Thank you that is why I asked the question because I don’t want to pay excessive exchange rates! We will be in Barcelona and Rome prior to cruise and I will plan on several bank affiliated withdrawals.
  20. Thank you and they specifically said euros cash and we have 2 tours planned so I will withdraw at home.
  21. Our tour guide for Naples requested we pay the remainder of our tour price in Euros so I will need 350 Euros. We will be in Rome the day before should I get the euros from a bank ATM? I am leaning toward getting them from my local bank before I leave home…..what do you suggest? Thanks!
  22. Thank you….why do you think we can’t make first 2 trains? I am curious, but will take your advice and not book anything prior to 10:30.
  23. Hello, We will be docked in Livorno on May 22 (Monday) and all ashore is 7 am. I plan to take the train to Florence train times given are 7:16, 7:30, 7:43, 8:12, etc these are direct trains. It takes 1 hr 40 minutes to arrive. I would like to book our Duomo tickets as close to arrival as possible. Has anyone done this and what time was your timed entry for the duomo? I want to get in as early as possible, but don’t want to miss my timed entry! Thanks!
  24. Thank you for the info! That is what I’m beginning to conclude that the pass isn’t particularly cost saving in Italy. The pass is only slightly higher than what the fast train from Barcelona to Pais is though so I thought that it maybe beneficial to buy and use in Italy. Another question has anyone had any experience making advanced reservations on the Italy trains with a pass? Thanks!
